OT: Jameis Winston In Legal Trouble For Stealing Crab Legs

Submitted by Sports on

The headline says it all. "Jameis Winston Citation for Shoplifting Crab Legs at Publix."

This has to be one of the strangest offseason arrest notices we'll see.

EDIT: Original headline reported he had been arrested. Following a press release, it's been revealed that he was only issued a citation. Header changed to account for that.

These kids gotta eat! Let's pay them on top of their free school, boarding and food. A kid can't survive on cafeteria food three times a day even if he has thirty six pairs of Nike elite gym shorts!

You would think he would lay low right about now.  Geez.....crab legs??  I'm amazed his meals aren't comped for the rest of his time in Fl.

He wasn't arrested, he was issued a citation. That citation will be cleared from his record if he does all the things he is required to do - an act typically reserved for minors but sometimes applied to minor misdemeonors for adults. This makes more sense, as we're talking about the Tallahasse Police and an important FSU football player.

Thanks, was having a rough morning, this made my day.

I hadn't known about the Burger King incident, stealing soda "in ketchup cups"? Aren't ketchup cups about 1 ounce? Maybe 2? Looking forward to seeing his Wonderlic score.

And I love the link for "Related: Fried soft shell crabs meuniere".

I had to laugh when I saw that the "related story" was a recipe posted on the LSU site at SBNation, but that does bring up an interesting question - if you are going to steal the crab legs, why not also get the makings of a nice white wine or garlic butter sauce to go with them? If nothing else, given his taste in shoplifting, one has to make a full meal of this experience.
