Jadeveon Clowney runs 4.47 40-yard dash

All I can do for my reaction is this pic of Warren Sapp's reaction:

Crazy a guy that big can move that fast.

press won't be that many reps for a guy with his length and height. it was actually a pretty good number the key being he has long arms. I wish they would do squats as well that's a better indicator and I feel like the best gauge of explosiveness is the vert

...the guy is undeniably a freak athlete.  But it doesn't mean much if he doesn't show some effort and heart on the playing field, as SC fans saw in the early part of the season this year. Maybe a few million dollars will give him the spark he needs to be as dominant in the sport as his skillset suggests he has the potential to do.  Speaking of which, to a lesser extent, his athleticism and potential in comparison to his actual lackluster production somewhat reminds me of someone currently on the Michigan basketball team this year...

I know I'm talking about the Lions here.......but can you imagine what it would be like if somehow Detroit drafted Clowney????  Clowney, Fairley, Suh, and Ansah.......holy crap that would be a terrifyingly sick pass rush.

Clowney is going to be a great pro. I couldn't stand the criticism he got this year for his "motivational problems." Would you be motivated if you had just proven you were too good for your current level of play and then had to spend an extra year doing it at severe risk of injury with NO pay? Yeah, I wouldn't either.

How motivated will he be once he does get paid? Great players don't have problems getting motivated. They don't take plays off. Clowney will always find a reason to not be motivated.

Plus, I thought Michigan's OL pretty much dominated him and I saw little reason to believe he will be a good player.

I think its hilarious that he was just barely slower than Deanthony Thomas.  Especially after hearing for 3 years how fast and explosive  DAT was whenever there was an Oregon game on.  Apparently DAT isn't even as fast as one Jeremy Gallon.

I think it's hilarious that you think his 40 time matters.

Here's what matters: 243 career carries, 1890 yards, 7.8 yards/carry, 26 touchdowns. 113 career receptions, 1296 yards, 11.5 yards/catch, 15 touchdowns. 73 kickoff returns, 1885 yards, 25.9 yards/return, 4 touchdowns. 35-5 record.

But yeah, he only ran a 4.5 forty. Joke's on him, I guess.

Wow, someone put up gaudy numbers in Oregon's offense?  Thats hard to believe. Lots of players have amazing stats in college and go on to do jack shit in the NFL.   I'm well aware of what he did in college, i was just commenting on how i had to listen to commentator after commentator go on and on about how lightning fast he was every time they were on tv.   So yes, i find it funny that he ran a slower OFFICIAL time than Gallon.   Maybe he had an off day.  Who knows.

Yes...and his lightning fast-ness helped him score lots of touchdowns and gain lots of yards. I don't get what's so funny. Are you saying it's funny that people said he's fast but really he's not fast? Are you saying that anybody in Oregon's offense can put up those numbers, regardless of whether they run a 4.5 or a 4.8?

Honestly, I doubt there are many unbiased football watchers who would take Gallon over De'Anthony Thomas. I just don't know what there is to laugh about.

The "unofficial" times they announce are hand timed by someone from the NFL. The "official" times are the actual electronic timing data. Just goes to show why hand timed 40's are worthless.

If you're fast you're fast, but 100 meter dash is more sprinting mechanics at the top end of the run than the first 40 yards. Also the clock starts when the gun goes off, not when they start to move.
