OT: Hoke to wear headset this weekend
ESPN: Vols' interim coach Brady Hoke to wear headset in change from Michigan routine.
Glad we don't have to worry ourselves with this inane issue any longer. But, it is fun to laugh about it from afar. Rooting for him and the inevitable hilarity in the Hoke vs. Cajun Hoke clash this weekend.
*Clapping intensifies*

I'm sure if he could go back in time he would have a headset on for every game.
November 15th, 2017 at 7:53 PM ^
I came for this and am satisfied.

I only see 4 claps in that video.
Fake news.
November 15th, 2017 at 9:15 PM ^
No, you're not the only one who sees four claps because I do, too.
November 16th, 2017 at 6:55 AM ^
You two have the clap so that brings us to six now.
;-)

Clap on...er, no, clap off...er, no, clap on...er, no, clap off...er, no, clap on...er, no, clap...clap...clap...

Talk about falling in to undeserved "success"
November 15th, 2017 at 7:46 PM ^
will he shrug and throw up his hands when he can't get the refs attention for a timeout?
November 15th, 2017 at 8:29 PM ^
Felt like every other coach was working their ass off in the field and Hoke was just the Union Supervisor standing around watching
November 15th, 2017 at 7:46 PM ^
I thought I would never have to see another Hoke headset post. I thought those 2013 and 2014 memories were buried forever.
I was wrong.
November 15th, 2017 at 7:46 PM ^
Hope. He wins his games. He tried his best at Michigan and he still is a Michigan man.
November 16th, 2017 at 1:30 PM ^
but the guy won 11 games one season and recruited the players that put more in the NFL draft than any other team all without violating any rules. It was that close to a 12-win season having 4 cracks at Iowa 1st & goal too as I recall.
It will always be my belief that he was handicapped by his boss stealing resources and money to promote branding and marketing rather than applying it to the Team.
And I'm happy to have Harbaugh.
But I think the question should be asked: Did Hoke lose games because of the lack of the headset? I think that's a tough argument to even start.
Unfortunately Hoke's been on the down side of the staffs of Oregon and UTenn with no time to do anything but maximize the 1 season at hand, which makes him seem like damaged goods. Hopefully that's not the total stamp on his career. Personally I think if there was interest for him to come back and coach DL when Mattison retires I'd be quite happy. I think he would do a great job.
November 15th, 2017 at 7:49 PM ^
They're noise cancelling so he won't hear the Vol fans booing.
Edit. Just realized what a conundrum this would be for Brady. How would he hear all teh footbaw?
November 15th, 2017 at 10:59 PM ^
holy shit! what a post. you win fugitive!
November 15th, 2017 at 7:47 PM ^
Sounds like he's slightly aware.
November 15th, 2017 at 7:48 PM ^
Remember how he didn't ever wear a jacket but you could just tell that he was dying inside because he was so damn cold but it got made into this big thing so he couldn't take it back and look like a sissy so he just got frostbite instead of concentrating on being a coach and stuff?
Good times.

I member!
November 15th, 2017 at 8:22 PM ^
what carr left us with; woof
November 15th, 2017 at 9:08 PM ^
The tackles were better than what we have now.
left tackle: Mark Ortmann
left guard: Tim McAvoy
center: David Molk
right guard: David Mosman
right tackle: Stephen Schilling
Making these guys play in a spread offense was a complete disaster.
November 15th, 2017 at 9:27 PM ^
Dave Mossman? Was he this gigantic monster that would enmesh his opponents with a wide swath of moss so that they could not get to the ball carrier??
November 15th, 2017 at 10:04 PM ^
But didn’t when Carr left there was only 7 scholarship o-linemen on the roster I️ remember reading ?
November 15th, 2017 at 10:41 PM ^
you know, Molk being the best center in the country and all,

Go Brady win your new job!
November 15th, 2017 at 7:58 PM ^
The only question I had was this - "When did it occur to him that this was actually a good way to communicate with your staff on the field and in the booth after all?" That is to say, when between the end of the 2014 season and now did this revelation happen?
November 15th, 2017 at 7:59 PM ^
I honestly hope he wins everything and stays their coach. He's a good dude that loved Michigan but did a bad job here, that's all
November 15th, 2017 at 8:08 PM ^
Good guy - bad AD. Brandon should never have put him in that position.
November 15th, 2017 at 8:16 PM ^
It was a perfect storm of having a greedy, money-grubbing AD and a pawn who would "walk from San Diego" to take the job and say yes to everything Brandon ordered. Brady never would have been in serious consideration if it wasn't for the worst AD in Michigan's history who needed a Yes Man.
Hard pass from me all the way around.
November 15th, 2017 at 8:45 PM ^
he was never really the coach here. I suspect that when the statute of limitations runs out that JUB will be able to show that Brandon was the coach and Hoke was a figurehead/fall guy.
November 15th, 2017 at 8:55 PM ^
I don't know if it was quite to that extent (Hoke did coach at BSU and SDSU for almost a decade; he wouldn't want to be a complete patsy) but I do suspect that Brandon tried to interfere with the gameplanning at times and that the Borges firing/Nuss hiring may well have been his call.

Cuts back and forth a lot between BH and Ed O......
LSU should beat the Champions of Life handily.
November 15th, 2017 at 8:26 PM ^
Sentimental monopoly money on UT pulling this out. LSU lays eggs all the time. Brady is a great motivator - he can get a team inspired because he's a likable guy. That counts for something in the short-term. It's the long-term that needed improvement.
November 15th, 2017 at 10:29 PM ^
The one thing I’ll say for Brady’s teams when he was here: they never had an issue getting up for the OSU game.
Even in the last two years of Hoke’s regime, years where this team had zero business even being on the same field as OSU, much less beating them, they showed up and put themselves in position to win. They didn’t finish the job of course, but Hoke must’ve had some great pregame speeches before those games rolled around.
November 15th, 2017 at 8:15 PM ^
Damn straight!
November 15th, 2017 at 8:23 PM ^
I'm thankful everyday that Jim Harbaugh is our coach, and that the Brady Hoke days are long gone. Having said that I wish him well. We'll always have the 2011 sugar bowl season.. and he did bring us Greg Mattison, and Peppers and several other great defensive players that helped us have a good season last year.
November 15th, 2017 at 8:35 PM ^
Even 2011 is bittersweet for me - that's the year we coulda shoulda won the B1G except for Hoke and Borges deciding Denard Robinson should throw from under center in a trash tornado.
