Been a while since I've seen a good ole-fashioned GIF thread. As first to act, I will raise:
Thank you, sir. I posted it on r/hockey and somebody else got it to reddit front page with a cross post. I liked getting my gif ranked on CBS Sports for top 10 hockey gifs.
And the winner of this year's "thread most likely to cause my computer to freeze up" goes to.......1484!
My personal fave was the dog dragging it's ass across the floor while the dude was lifting. That's funny as hell.
what's the general consensus, is "gif" pronounced with a hard "G" sound, or with a "j" sound like the peanut butter?
Yes, things like this concern my feeble brain.
I pronounce it GIF, but acknowledge the original intent and pronunciation was JIF. Things change, though. There's room in this world for both PEEcans and piCAHNS. Just don't go around saying aluminium. That's just stupid.
A PEEcan is what you would piss in
Everyone I've ever met says it with a hard G, as in 'graphic'. Which makes sense, since it stand for 'graphics interchange format'.
The GIF"s creator says 'jiff'. He's wrong.
Will provide more when I get home.
becauase I have the Killer Whale version of that shark in my basement right now. Makes me wish I had a pet to 'punk' with it. Instead I just have two kids...
Why in the world would there be a boat on the ice when some dude is figure skating?
Can't tell if serious or...
It was some sort of nautical theme, judging by the fish on the boards of the rink. So, yeah. I guess I was serious.
(It's a chick!)
needs a degree of difficulty
I had a dream last night that I woke up and it was August 31st. I was pumped for the UM-Central game.
Then I actually woke up and I was thoroughly upset..
I still say that this is one of the more compelling sports GIFs I have seen. The shame is that probably only 50 people saw it live...
Frame rate and the pan is really smooth till he leaps and then it gets pretty jerky for a second. And I know from my physics 140 days that even if there's no air resistance that vx1=vx2 and it looks like he's accelerating after jumping
I say great catch, but the gif or video was modified to make it look even better..unless someone can find the actual video of that catch to prove me wrong
I'm not saying the gif isn't doctored; it definitely has a kind of different tempo or "feel" after he leaves his feet. However, I could see someone making the following reasonable argument: At first when he leaves his feet, we focus more on the upper body. However, as the legs go over, they have the greater radial velocity as the torso stays closer to the center. Hence the legs look like they're moving faster. It appears to me that until we recognize the velocity's radial nature, we don't appreciate how fast he's going.
That's just my take on it, though. In the end it's about is conclusive as that rapture guy video with the girl supposedly getting touched inappropriately. We could sit here and Zapruder the shit out of it for hours and never agree.
Hmmm. Wonder what Child Protective Services would have to say about that?
or "Maybe you should put your goat on a leash." or "Maybe you should put your kid on a leash."?
But as first to act, you cannot raise. You can only bet.
Edit: ...unless there were blinds. You're playing Hold 'Em, aren't you? Never mind.
Joaquin Benoit's little dancing moment from last nights Tigers game
much cowbell? I think not!
I dont know why but this one of Salvadore Dali makes me laugh - especially when you look at his work...
What no Kate Upton?
Just posted by The Key Play on Twitter:
I actually agree with Delaney's point on increasing support for at-risk student athletes. The current academic support for at-risk athletes at the majority of division one universities is pathetic at best.
the events that led to this.
but I can see why you would be mesmirized by the flying raccoon. Basically, tech mogul is awakened at 1 am to a raccoon attacking his labradoodle. He acted quickly to defend Toaster. Security cams caught the action from two angles.
