Wishing I had a way of telling my team who they should draft in the 2nd round
Peppers at 10, which seems low.
Wishing I had a way of telling my team who they should draft in the 2nd round
Working on edits of a manuscript entitled "Bark Beetle Mortality Increase Energy Imbalance in Eddy Covariance Measurements Due to Canopy Heterogeneity" Yay science on a Friday!
...you work for People magazine?
I was just looking at data for an eddy covariance tower:
Yup. Excited stuff, running an EC tower in Wyoming. What were you doing with the data from the UMBS?
Nothing that's going to result in any publications, that's for sure.
I'm still very curious for the details. Are you a grad student?
because the internet would know who I am with said details. I'm not a grad student though.
Hello there, ecologist. Keep up the good work, I am jealous of your getting to go outside.
an excuse to sneak out early. As in, right now.
almost done with work, then I can go home and mow the yard.
Update: the yard has been mowed and I can now commence to having a beer.
I'm off. Working on my NCAA 12 HB's Road to Glory.
I still flamebaited you.
Finding GM part numbers to yoink some competitor's hardware.
I'm working on some Swiss Cake rolls, a can of Coke and waiting to head home to my wife and daughter in 24 minutes!! Have a great weekend all.
you spelled "diabetes" wrong.
You win the Internetz today! Is that why I'm so light headed right now?
I'm planning a master's thesis. It sounds like you might be having more fun than I am.
What is your thesis on? Also, don't you already have a phd stephen?
I'm going to start studying virology now!
Oh, I should also add that my boss has already left for the day, our general cousel requires at least one lawyer to be physically present in all of the offices at all times, so I'm stuck here until the business people go home. Corporate America -- F-ck yeah!
Seriously, do I have to think of everything?
I'm thinking about throwing my office chair out the window and following it out. Problem is that I'm on the 25th floor. Then again, this call is REALLY horrible . . .
How do you stay in all the offices at one time?! I think we should have a talk about multiplicity theories; I'm writing a new book after all!
Ultimate frisbee then a nice relaxing night of NCAA 2012 to relax after a brutal finals week!
And also considering going to the casino for the 2nd time this week.
U of M Emergency Room... saving lives every day of the week.
I can currently still breathe thanks to the UM ER. Keep on truckin'.
You would be like Superman to mgoblog, if only you weren't so low-profile ... which further supports my hypothesis that you might actually be mGoSuperman. Major respects.
Was a lot more active during the haloscan era when I played rugby and danced ballroom for UM. Currently working full-time and going to grad school cuts into my posting habits. Still read everything though, usually on my smart phone at night in bed haha.
You know those UMHS Michigan Difference commercials? And the Hail to the Little Victors commercials? Those really do make you feel like superman sometimes.
Trying to memorize Model Penal Code and Common Law for a Criminal Law exam tomorrow!
Just remember, you cannot set up a machine gun with a trip wire to protect your home if you're not present. No use of deadly force to protect property and not person.
for you to bring the banhammer down so I can post this in the correct context:
Here you go - just sent myself to Bolivian for a few minutes. Has to be better than this conference call. Or, at least, I heard the weather is nice there this time of year.
I know that's crazy right?! I had to disarm all of the traps in my house for the times when I'm not there after reading that. Who would have thought . . .
I'm editing pages upon pages upon pages of HTTV articles, and choosing pics for all of them. If any of you are reallllly bored you can sort through Upchurch photos from last year and name your favorites for a) Current M players, b) 2012 opponents, c) 2011 Seniors.
I have plenty of work to do every day but that doesn't seem to make my job any less boring.
And more Upton.
And an interactive, animated magazine.
I need high-res frames of this-- if we crop and put her in the corner it could maybe work as a flip book?
Is this the most universally slow day in recent memory? I can't find anyone working.
I wore my Mike Martin/Hulk Smash to work to get him drafted tonight, knowing no one would care or be around.
Watching the hot chick make copies while the ugly chick stares at me in disgust.
Pics or it didn't happen.
The ugly chick is HR. I will try for you though.
Wishing I could be working on a nap. But unfortunately I am also stuck in the office on a super slow and boring day.
"Please provide any and all documents containing pornographic stick figure images that you have produced in the past six (6) months."
Sounds like an interesting case you have there.
Good thing I'm not the recipient. I don't have enough Bates stamps for the production. Wait, those requests aren't for me, are they??
going to si full tine thank god.
Finals week here at the University of Southern Indiana. All of my Office Admin dudties have been completed for the week so I'm wasting the last two hours of the week by watching Man versus Food and trying to decide what I'm having for dinner tonight.
Work done. Just ran the dog at the park and now I'm going to go hit a large bucket at the range. Looks like the winter that wasn't (in Michigan anyway) is about to give us one last slap tomorrow with rain and temps in the 40s. Later? Beer.
Testing ambulatory clinical software electronic prescribing functionality from start to finish and verifying the outgoing XML message. Then I have to modify the XML and send it back through to hopefully receive the designed functionality on the front end. Also, gouging out my eyes.
What are your thoughts on Pep stepping down?
It would have been nice to see Bielsa get the job, but I think Vilanova is going to do just fine.
Great question. I'm a fairly new fan (started watching soccer just this season) and so didn't live through the past years. I definitely like the way Bilbao plays but from what I've read about the new guy it seems as though he's going to keep the same philosophy as Guardiola. Their style of play is what drew me to them over all the other teams I surveyed before picking a favorite.
Will Guardiola go coach somewhere else? Chelsea?
I've actually been expecting Pep to step down. He hinted at stepping down earlier because he said he felt burnt out.
Pep actually spent time with Bielsa to learn his tactics. There is nothing better than watching possession football like Barca and Bilbao. Or even some of the Dutch clubs like Ajax who coach total football and are supreme technicians on the ball.
I'm not sure. You could tell how much stress he was under with the amount of hair he was losing each year.
IMO, he wont coach Chelsea. If he goes to a EPL I'm sure there will be growing pains. It would be like what we went through when RR came here.
It'll definitely be interesting to see how things go next year for Barca. I don't think I'll have as much time to watch the games as I do now though.
Did you catch the two Champions League matches against Chelsea. That second game was probably one of the most frustrating sporting events I've ever watched. Watching the second half felt like hot needles poking my eyeballs.
The best thing about Barcelona is that we don't hire coaches to bring their own styles and influence... we hire coaches to fit OUR style.
Tito will do well. Pep will return to Barcelona one day as a higher-up
I am actually spending the final 15 minutes or so here trying to appear as if I am buried in some complex Excel spreadsheet, for after all, MGoBlog is in fact a complex Excel spreadsheet, right? *makes pivot table from NFL Draft open threads*
Couchin'. I work 10 hour shifts M-Th so weekend is now!
trying to stop the crying & mitigate the damage before my wife comes home in 5 min!
Doing some studying for the MCAT, while trying to find a place for my volunteer organization to do some work. So if anyone knows of a place that works with kids (I'm on the children's committee) in the Ann Arbor area that needs volunteers, just tell me, I could use a lead.
But, I'm honestly just happy to get out of our house, but only because we had our hot water heater crack last night break and flood some of our basement, so it's been a mess.
Sitting here thinking about how next week is my last week of work for "the man," ever. I have started my own business and I am going full time with it on May 7.
Until then, I sit here in my cube reading MGoBlog.
And stealing money from yourself. You're living the American Dream.
Actually no, I've budgeted that time... so I'm good.
Best of luck, Mr. Penguin, but it's getting pretty damn hot up here, someone's gonna end up taking you back to the South Pole.
I just started it on Wednesday and I'm already 9 episodes in. Great show.
I've heard great things about it, but I've been meaning to watch it. I've added it to my list of "shows I really need to watch/finish". It's up there with: The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and Arrested Development (I still have to finish the last season of that one).
You'll be done before the draft is.
Working on a Java based PDF reporting JAR that will interface with my Adobe AIR application. Will shortly be giving up and going home to start drinking heavily and watching NFL draft coverage
Reviewing extended tax returns that the interns did that the partners should be signing off on.
trying to figure out if coffee will wake me up or make me jittery (or both).
Try Swiss Cake rolls and Coke.
Waiting for 4:30 central time, for a happy weekend for me!
into storage for the summer and taking all of my things back into my apartment by the end of the day because the lease on his apartment is up tomorrow. Also, my mom, dad, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dad's girlfriend, are all getting into town in 3 hours for graduation tomorrow, and we have to be done with all the moving by then because my grandparents cannot find out that I was residing with my boyfriend. Would've saved a bunch of money on rent, but whatever.
And my dad wants me to find him somewhere to park his RV. LOL.
*Misses all the taglines at the bottom from other posters...
But I am blissfully bisexual.
There's an RV park in Ypsi.
He has 10(!!) people in there though so I'll just leave it up to them to figure out how they're getting to and from without a car.
CMRDad just knows how to party.
Are they letting people park at Pioneer for graduation? They usually take RV's there.
If he can stomach parting with $5 for parking. Also I'm not sure if they'll let him camp out for two nights, but I'd love to see someone try to tow that thing.
But if Saturday is night 2, he's probably ok. If it's Sunday they probably want it out of there by time people start arriving for school Monday.
Research proposal. Damn, stupid research proposal that just doesn't want to write itself. In my mind, I'm already thinking about what I'm going to post for the "Friday Evening What Are You Drinking Thread".
It's snowing here. I need a hug.
at least I got that going for me.
yeah, not even as exciting as it sounds. But almost time to head to the liqour store.
mowed lawn and now working on a quote of Motorola rugged tablets.
Literally...You need a dumpster? Don't call, I've gotta read moar posts!
My battalion commander let us out at 1500. I'm working on a bud platinum.
It makes me sad.
Larger. But I don't get a cut of this one, so I'd rather be working w/ Mr. Luck.
If so, I think it's time to break off from litigation hell and form our own business/firm
But I work with IP quite a bit. I'm in.
We probably need some clients, or at least patents to troll with?
No, but I just stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. Does that count?
Working on presentations for customers and correcting mistakes. Auto supply is fun.
The conference call is finished. And the moderator (no pun intended) had the nerve to send an e-survey for us to rate their presentation. HAHAHAHAHA. I should just send a transcript of this thread . . .
I'm sorry I asked for the pic.
That's an old pic (pre-op). She's the one on the left in red.
Doing top secret stuff accounting firms aren't supposed to tell anyone about. Prepping for an upcoming audit and finding any possible reason to think about sports on this lovely Friday.
I'm mourning the stepping-down by Pep Guardiola.
They'll still be strong next year, right?
That Chelsea tie was brutal to watch as a new Barca fan - you must have been punching dolphins on Tuesday evening . . .
they'll be strong... i like Tito Villanova, but any other coach after Guardiola is a step down.
I'd like to see us replace Biscuits with a guy like Marouane Felaini, someone who can be physical, win headers in the box, but still play the ground passing game. His hair is pretty dank too.
Do you think they could use another winger? I really like Torres (even though he stunk up the joint this year). Alexis has come on strong but it still seems as though Messi needs some help against teams that sit back like Chelsea and Real just did to them. Tello isn't going to get it done yet - he's too much of a one-trick pony and Cuenca is more of a feeder. Will David Villa make a big difference next year? He didn't do too much whenever I saw him play before he got injured and Pedro seems kind of the same to me - good but not great?
I doubt we go after another winger. In addition to those you mentioned (Alexis, Pedro, Tello, Cuenca, Villa) we also use Iniesta and Fabregas as wingers, Dani Alves and Adriano are essentially wingers AAAAND we have Ibrahim Affelay coming back from injury.
I see us picking up a center back, maybe a left back, maybe a taller striker ::cough:: Fernando Llorente ::cough:: but ultimately I want a guy like Yaya Toure back in the midfield again.
Llorente should already be versed in playing in the 4-3-3/3-4-3/3-3-1-3 or whatever you want to call it.
I'm a big fan of Cesc - he's had a few tremendous games recently. I've never seen Affelay play - is he a standout player?
What are they going to do with Keita? I heard Ray Hudson (who is clearly the best sportscaster in all of sports) mention that he might move on so he can be a starter somewhere?
I think they might end up dealing Villa to another club for $$.
I really like Cuenca and I think there is a need for his skill. Tello has the skill, it is just a question of him putting it all together. I don't like Pedro, but he has skill.
Not sure about Felaini, but his hair is awesome. Height doesn't mean much in soccer, but honestly Barca is too short all over the field. Once Pique went out with a concussion every corner was scary to watch.
Felaini is sick, man. Everton's best defender and probably their best attacking option aside from Jelavic.
Ever seen him play fior Belgium? he plays right behind the striker and does pretty darn well at it
I'm working on processing an El Gordo burrito that I had for lunch.
Though thanks for stopping before saying how far into the process you were.
Trying to convince myself I'm studying for a final on Monday, when I really am just coming back here every 10 minutes.
I'm reading a four year old People magazine in the men's room (only because I don't have a copy of the SI swimsuit edition handy). Somehow Rosenberg will manage to hose up even the swimsuit edition next year.
And check the Rosenberg thread for how he messed up the swimsuit issue.
I am still a Cleveland Browns fan. Suffice to say, I don't have much hope for Brandon Weeden. Any MGoFootball Experts have any intel about him to make me feel better?
(You sound like me in the midst of the Lions' Millen years. It sucked so hard to be a Lions fan, longingly looking back at the mostly mediocre Wayne Fontes tenure as the glory years.)
Trying to look busy for the next 20 minutes or so, then heading to the gym to blow off some steam on the racquetball court.
Also kind of worrying that I might wake up tomorrow morning in a ditch on the side of the road.
BF3 tonight? I'm addicted. I'll be online at around 2am if you're up.
Dang man! I'm old now and don't typically function very well that late. But hey, at least you're getting to experience the joys of child-rearing, right?
The wife's out of town this weekend though, so we'll see.
I play racquetball on Thursdays against two Turkish dudes. We play 3-man cutthroat. Last night, I got clocked in the head with Salim's racquet. I'm a little slow today.
Come to think about it, that's an awesome claim to fame. Every Thursday, I play 3-Man Cutthroat with two crazy Turks (I'll just neglect to mention that it's racquetball). I am the most interesting man in my Ph.D. program. "I don't always drink beer, but when I do, we talk about science."
I love racquetball. I play with some guys every Monday-Wednesday-Friday. I got absolutely clocked in the butt the other day though. Playing cutthroat, I was serving, I gave a guy a perfect kill shot from the back wall, so I took up the middle of the court and just got drilled. I've never had a bruise this big from getting hit with a racquetball.
I kind of feel like Tobias Funke with this post... except I realize how it sounds.
racquetball with an Ottoman!
or SUGAR, for short. Working on the propulsion system for this beast (on behalf of a certain Aviation company in Cincinnati):
I've finally done it! This post gives me 500 MGoPoints! One step closer to the big leagues!
Providing systems support to technologically inept accounting firms and currently struggling to make a CPA understand why using a consumer level Wi-Fi connection to connect to a Citrix Terminal server you access through internet is an absolutely horrible idea and the root of all his issues. Is it Friday Happy Hour time?
Thinking about how I'll still be sitting in the same chair nine hours from now, only then we'll be outside so I will be cold.
Also thinking about how early my two-year-old will wake up tomorrow morning.
Not my best week.
I should Bolivian you for that.
/kidding (but not really)
Although you can only see blue. Would you like me to send another picture showing where she is wearing maize? I think I can get her to strike the pose.
on LiveStats. Not good.
If she plays for a D1 in the midwest, I've probably either seen her play or watched on LiveStats.
now about to head to the girl's house to watch the Tigers and draft... and continue studying for endocrinology.
Heiko, if you're reading this, get out of med school while you still can. It never ends.
Nearly done with my third year. I keep hoping it'll get better and it keeps not getting better.
Just found out I got the research job I wanted for the summer. Time to celebrate!
Congratulations! The first one's on me tonight:
Refreshing the site waiting for a pos-bang thread. Oh wait.
Waiting on the contract that makes my quarter while realizing it's not going to happen today. What should I drink this evening?
Correction, contract came in. DRINKS ON ME!
Good news - they loved it.
Bad news - it means a week in Milwaukee.
Worse news- figuring out how to break it to the wife. Fifth trip in 2 months for a non-traveling job.
Milwaukee is an awesome city.
I was gonna say something about a philosophy term paper I'm slaving away on, but I'm really just here for the posbang.
a new computer. Had to come online, to double check some voltage numbers... and somehow, I ended up back here. Curse you Mgoblog.
At this particular moment, I am looking at a specific piece of data for a national magazine that ranks universities. We don't collect that data in the way they assume we do, so I'm trying to impute a figure that is accurate, realiable, defensible, etc.
But I also see it's 5:45 on Friday and I think I shoulda been out of here some time ago. Not looking forward to traffic on the way home. It's commencement weekend which means the city is filled with happy families who unfortunately don't know their way around Ann Arbor that well.
3 pounds of ribeye on the grill
Just had a Chorizo Frita Loco from Frita Batidos. Sublime.
"Peggy" and I host pub trivia every other Sunday Night at our local brewpub. I am finishing adding the questions into the prezi. Go Tigers!
Not to be confused with my avatar
Nailed another significant result yesterday in support of my working hypothesis, tested out some more primers tonight for quantitative polymerase chain reaction experiments ... gotta get that PhD. Done for the night, having a drink for the first time all week (yes that's a long time to go without a brew here in WI).
Has anyone else on mgoblog participated in the MAC program at Michigan. I am in my last month of the program, starting to write my e-portfolio.
Rough week + Friday night = margaritas
Home prices are really low there, but vice is always going to be in LV, and the town hasn't stopped growing. Cap return is 7% to 9.5% less some minor fees, IRR is 28%, so it's not uninteresting.
