Might want to read the article you are commenting on.

“At Florida, we do an EKG and an echo on every athlete that comes to us, so we have that on record already. So if someone gets COVID, and we repeat this cardiac workup, we are able to compare back to what they were when they came in as a freshman or transfer here. So we have a pretty good idea if there were any changes,” Florida team physician, Dr. Jay Clugston, told TV20 in August. “There does seem to be more cases or cardiac effects from this virus than maybe we have seen from others, although, we are looking a lot more closely than we have in the past. I think all of us are cautious about it.”

I can tell you first hand that some symptoms or conditions sometimes do not show up until way after positive diagnosis or what seems to be a complete recovery.

Also, what I've been told is Doctors (including mine)/experts know less about the effects of the virus than what they actually do know at this point.

That’s really scary. I have a few family members who had covid but went through it without any complications. The long term effects however are a big question mark

GAINESVILLE — At least 17 anesthesiologist residents and a fellow at one of the premier university hospital systems in Florida contracted COVID-19 earlier this month after attending a private party together, according to hospital insiders and internal documents.

The outbreak at University of Florida Health occurred after a party at a private home, according to people familiar with the situation. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they said UF Health prohibits employees from speaking to reporters without authorization.

I'd ask for an out-of-network anesthesiologist if this reflects the life and death decision making skills of staff there.

I had a nice case of myocarditis during my first CHF scare, so not from COVID but even so, it is not fun and it can be severe enough - as mine nearly was - that the word "pacemaker" starts getting used as they stand over your bed. Fortunately, after several years, the right combination of meds has put most things close to right, but it is not to be trifled with. I wish this kid nothing but the best and hope he recovers.

I had shitty symptoms for like 2 days, then nothing for a week.  Last couple days brain fog and headaches have returned.  Very strange virus and seems to affect different people very differently

Hopefully he can fully recover and can stay healthy.

It's really a terrifying disease because of how much we don't know about its lingering effects.  I wonder if teams that have outbreaks will increase monitoring and testing for these longer-term issues.

Keyontae and other athletes shouldn't be naive to the fact that many Universities will push the envelope and endanger them if it makes them a buck. This is why I've never been a fan of collegiate sports being played until vaccinations were available for players to take.

Universities decided otherwise, players went along and now they are both facing the consequences of those decisions

My nephew died 5 years ago from viral myocarditis.  He was 8.  He had literally NO symptoms until about 48 hours before he died.  The doctors said he just had a bug.

My sister-in-law took him to the hospital when he started actually showing some odd symptoms, even though he still seemed mostly fine.  He coded and died about 8 hours later.  Hospital couldn't do a thing.

I sincerely hope no athletes affected by COVID have this happen to them.

i'm honestly surprised this isn't happening more often.

these games shouldn't be happening in the first place.  i love watching them, but man...at what cost?
