"There's a huge embarrassment that comes with [this]," Green said. "Not only for myself, as I was the one who committed the action ... but the embarrassment that Jordan has to deal with and that this team has to deal with, this organization has to deal with. But also Jordan's family. His family saw that video. His mother, his father saw that video. If my mother saw that video, I know how my mother would feel."

There's some credit here due to Draymond for being seemingly contrite, but...you don't know Jordan's parents, pal. Let them choose to react in the way they want to, and if they want more from you, let them ask for it.

I don't think most MSU players have criminal intentions. I still up-voted you, because you are MgoHillbilly and you provide well placed, smart snark and your point is still valid.  MSU basketball player = more likely to have used his get out of jail free card than non-MSU player.

Anyone see the tread about Draymond over on RCMB? They all wish he would have punched Poole harder. Their fan base is truly despicable. Not to mention, they have a thread about Mike Hart's incident today. Many of the comments are beyond belief, even for that fanbase.

What is frustrating is that Draymond Green is highly intelligent, especially as as a teammate. He knows better. But it’s one fucking thing like this after another, this just being the worst one. He let his team down. Again

Not only that, but his apology does not seem like he is sorry for doing what he did.  I have been an Elementary School teacher for over 20 years, and am a father of 4.  I could be wrong, but my interpretation of what he said amounts to him bragging, "Did you see how bad I embarrassed Poole?  He should feel terrible.  Now I am going to make a thinly veiled yo mamma joke."  I don't believe there was any contrition in his statement at all.  Again, I could be wrong, but it seems to me that when he walked off the stage and got out of sight of the reporters he probably laughed to himself about the jokes he just made.

Agree completely. His “apology” read like a flex.
“I’m so sorry that I’m so strong that my punch looked super awesome and how’s he gonna explain to the world how badly I kicked his ass.”

Fuck that guy. Poole shouldn’t escalate it, but it would be great if he tweeted out something like “spoke to ma, she’s so happy I turned out the way I did. But she did say it was nice to see Dray finally hit a shot.”

If their was no video he wouldn't make this statement. He's a pure jackass and always has bee .

I've seen some of his interviews over the years and he has a deep deep hate for Michigan, way deeper than a cute rivalry of hate. You dont hear that from Michigan players outside of just an in state rival shit talk.

It's also pathetic that Draymond tried to claim that the video had been edited to make him look bad and blame the leaker.  So much for Draymond accepting responsibility.

"I thought it was bulls--t that the video leaked," Green said. "And saying that, what did I think of myself in the moment? I watched the video 15 times, maybe more. Because when I watched the video, I'm looking at the video and I'm like, 'Yo, this looks awful.' This looks even worse than I thought it was. It's pathetic. And then I had to take a step back too and realize that this video was actually released this way to look that way.

"For whoever leaked the video, it did the same thing for me that it is intended to do to the world. It's an audio-less video, it's a video that cuts to me walking right to him. So the video serves the purpose that it was supposed to serve."

Not at all.  Can't stand the guy on the court, but he has his shit together off the court.  He's big in the media and hasn't had any off the court trouble during his NBA career.

He's just a hot head, bully and a moron on the court, but generally liked and composed off the court.

Still a sharty though.

I thought he seemed fairly genuine in his remorse, but who cares? Doesn't make it any less ridiculous. He should be released.

Draymond is a bully. Hes trying to be slick here, he has no remorse.  He knows he has no value on any other team in the NBA. He's trying to save face and save his contract.

He's gone.  They are looking for a decent trade deal as we speak.  He ran off KD (generational talent and top 3 player - and many just dismissed it as KD being soft - but top players in the league are afforded that luxury and Green didn't get the memo). Luckily for him and the Warriors they are so well run that they reloaded with young talent in the year Klay was injured.

He's no Rodman, no Ben Wallace - especially at this point in his career and in this era of the NBA.  Poole is an up and coming score-from-anywhere player. The emergence of Wiggins as a 2 way star makes Green even more dispensable.

They can trade him for any enforcer type and be just as good at this point. PJ Tucker would be a could comparison (undersized effective small ball defender) although Green is a better passer and Tucker a better shooter.

Warriors fan here (grew up in the Bay Area). This is probably the worst thing Draymond has done because

1. It was intentional

2. He could have really injured/hurt Poole

3. It was his own teammate

Warriors won't look to trade him but he's not helping himself at all with upcoming contract negotiations with the warriors OR another team.

This shit was wild. I sincerely hope this motivates him to be less impulsive and better control his emotions while playing.

Time off?!? Nothing more dangerous and inexcusable than a grown person that can’t handle their emotions and has to resort to animalistic violence. He should be in a cell.
