That is one hell of a photoshop job on the crowd in that picture...   that stadium has never been that full.  What %age of fans have been airbrushed into the stands??

Good move for him.

Makes good money, P5 conference, good talent base, low bar (3-9 this year).  Granted, he plays MSU, OSU, UM but if he can go 8-4/7-5 for a few years, go to bowl games, and then occasionally upset the big 3 he will do will.  For me, Pac 12, SEC are fun to watch because any team can win on any given Saturday.  Big 10 no fun Indiana's, Purdues, Rutgers and Maryland's of the world never have a chance to win.  So a competitive Maryland is good for Big 10, and Maryland should be competitive.

He will do well--young, studied under 2 masters, energetic, good talent base, and good support.

Ultimately, will be good for UM to have a strong Maryland.

Granted, the OSU timing thing was bad, but who knows.  No way it didn't detract from the preparation, but probably had no choice.  Who knows, perhaps had Harbaugh's blessing or even encouragement.

Good for him.  People will bitch around here for whatever reason, but again, he's a motiviated guy with a chance to lead a P5 team.  Good on him for making it happen.

how you always take the high road. Bronx, you're much better than I am.

It's such a straw man, though, when people keep saying why wouldn't he take the money, good for him, he's so great.  I'm not convinced that he's all that great after IU, and my irritation with his departure had nothing to do with wanting him to stay.  What bites is that a possible reason for the steady decline in LB performance and then getting blown out by OSU may have more than a little to do with his job search and interviewing process.

Make no mistake - knowing now how little he cared about the team, I am DELIGHTED he is gone.  Much better to get this out of the way during Harbaugh's first year.

I don't understand why so many of you are so hurt by this.  I know he did a good job improving the defense this year.  The thing is, this is how it is in big time football nowadays.  The more successful your program is, the more likely other schools will try to hire your coaches.  if JH left, then there is reason to be angry as he would be moving laterally and why would he want to do that.  But, coordinators leaving for head coaching jobs, and position coaches leaving for coordinator jobs happen all the time and is a sign that you're doing something right.  There is no true long term status quo in a successful program.

Also, as far as interviewing before the end of the season, I am not a fan, but it is the trend in big time football anymore.  If some coaches don't, then they may not be in the running for some jobs.

Maryland is not and has not been a good program, but i wish him luck (up to a point) in turning it around.

In all honestly, walking out of the stadium last Saturday I was thinking that it might not be that bad if Durkin were to move on.  I think he certainly has great potential, but his gameplans against IU and OSU suggest his learning curve is ongoing and perhaps we need more of a finished product as our DC, especially with the team we have coming back.  The 2016 roster is set up to make a playoff run.

Couldn't have been too hard a sell for Durkin: "remember how I shut your asses down this year? It was easy. I can either do it again, or teach you how to avoid it. Your choice."

the Jerkin...I think he was so preoccupied during Ohio week and that showed on the field...If he knew he had the job or was seriously in it why coach a Div rival ? which Michigan now is...One year? so once again its alllllll about the money( I get that part..gotta do whats good for my family blah blah blah...loyalty to build this program mean NOTHING...Hes dead to me and I hope we show NO MERCY in future matchups..If it had been 2 maybe 3 years? Id prob feel differently

Please don't refer to Maryland as a rival of any sort. They are nothing more than one of Jim Delaney's adopted stepchildren who he threw into Michigan's division.

DJ was the second coming of Greg Robinson.  The D was awful the last half of the season.  I say, fuggetaboutit!  JH would have let him go.

This is what happens when you hire good assistant coaches. They move onward and upward. Then you hire more good assistant coaches.  It's a good thing.

Get used to this. It's going to happen a lot under Harbaugh.

that's about as sincere as you can get. Come on people. Be happy for the guy. And the team. We will beat their ass every year so what the hell are you really worried about.?

and that the parting was amicable. I'll also presume that Harbaugh won't worry about letting up on Maryland when they visit Ann Arbor on November 5, 2016.
