College World Series. Garrit Cole of UCLA. He's going to be big like Strasburg someday. Just not nearly as big.
Rough start for Strasburg although still scoreless. Couple of hits early.
but you gotta pick one topic dude
Aren't both of these things MLB related. I think most of us can figure it out.
The Phenom's are strugglin'
Cole's not even really struggling. Two light hits bleed through, a check swing for a RBI, and the backup 2nd baseman misses a gimme. This is some bad luck and lack of help.
South Carolina up 2-0 t1.
Yeah Cole had some tough luck. I like him because he turned down the Yanks despite being a first round pick. I wonder what the story behind that is?
I don't remember his. They made so much about Purke of TCU turning down the Rangers as a 1st rounder (apparently with bankruptcy, they gave him a number, then lowered it right before he signed, and Cole's teammate Bauer's ridiculous antics. They've skipped much of his own story.
Damn Cabrera and Boesch should be batting 3 and 4 in the all star game
4-0 Tigers after 5 batters against Liriano
Boesch mashes a double, and all is right with the world. 4-0 good guys.
And Bonderman bonks the first hitter he sees.
I understand the argument against it but it's been a long time since the NL won. He's part of the team that would give them the best chance to win. The NL could use home field advantage in the WS. He doesn't have his best stuff tonight but he's through 4 scoreless with 2 k's. Side note, I can't believe I'm watching a Nats game
EDIT: 5 scorless with 5 k's. Yikes
DOUBLE EDIT: 6 scoreless with 7 k's. Double Yikes
...through six innings. 6 out of the last 8 batters fanned. Just hit 99 mph in the last at bat. 76 strikes out of 96 pitches thrown. Yeah, I'd say he's got his best stuff tonight.
And again, zero run support so far in the 7th.
...are falling apart this inning. Terrible, terrible defense.
Laird grounds into a double play to end a threat and Bonderman struggling in the first, seen this before.
Laird is like a pitcher, in the sense that you'd rather have him strikeout than put it in play with men on base since he always kills innings with his GIDPs.
I was hoping you would say he's like the pitcher in that we don't have to bat him in the AL.
I <3 Boesch.
Boesch =
Geez the defense in the CWS has been horrible
UCLA's would be better. Losing your starting 2nd baseman in a dog pile was a huge loss. The Ameral throw was quite out of the ordinary. Hell, this game has been particularly horrible defensively.
That said, the highlight reel from the CWS has been spectacular.
Yuck, Cocks are playing Bruin Ball. They're about to slow this game down to a crawl. Turn away now before your subjected to the longest 3 innings ever.
is a good ol' fashioned pitchers duel.
Hoping the Bravos pull this one out.
Another double play. Not even Chico's Bail Bonds would bail Bonderman out this often.
Dear Mr. Raburn
Why are you batting 3rd in the lineup tonight? Yes, I know that is were you're boss and my personal hero, Mr. Leyland, has written your name down on the line up card, but why you can't remind Mr. Leyland that you are batting barely above .200 on the season? I like you and all (no homo) but in my eyes, you are simply not hitting well enough this year to justify batting 3rd in the lineup and instead I submit that you should be 7th or 8th.
You're fan,
David from Wyoming.
Here comes the comeback. Bondo does not have his good stuff tonight.
I really don't understand why the tigers have so much trouble with the Twins every year.
I'm a big fan of Bondo, but what exactly is 'his good stuff'? Can he bake cookies well?
He normally has a lot more movement on his slider. Come on.
He's approaching Nate Robertson territory, in that if you give him 5 runs he'll find a way to give up 6, and if he does throw 7 innings of 1-run ball, we'll lose 1-0 and everyone will wring their hands and talk about "Poor Jeremy, we just don't give him much run support".
What the fuck is Cabrera doing trying to steal 3rd?
Dammit, the wheels are coming off. C'mon Tigers! Rally!!!
Edit: Timely insurance run there by Rayburn. Now let's see the bullpen shine like it's May all over again!
Okay, I have a request.
More Bloomfield Honda Girl commercials. Less Call Sam and Little Caesar's Dumbshit Daddy commercials.
Laird F-ing Rocks!
Gump Laird homers to right.
In other news, it snowed today in Ecuador.
It snows in Ecuador a lot. They have really tall mountains there.
Where you been hiding that stroke, Gerry?
Well played.
In other news, Zumaya's elbow just blew out. Not goodt news.
that was brutal to watch
zumaya is done for the year for sure with how that looked
poor guy
Understatement of the year.............
Uh-oh.
Crapola.. he was having a great season too.
ahh man look at his entire goddamn arm shaking on that replay
So now is it time for Schlereth to be called up? Sad to see Zoom-Zoom injured...
I can't believe what's happened to him over his career. Just sad.
He's like a racehorse that can't be harnessed.
And that might finally be it for Mr. Zumaya. :(
Cocks were ballin' today. Beat UCLA 7-1. Game drug on forever, 3 hours and about 20 minutes. Seemed a ton longer. Hopefully they play Cock ball tomorrow. Quick and solid. That's not what she said indeed.
Well said.
Valverde is the man!
