OT: Auburn dismisses DC, "eyes" Muschamp
Auburn has dismissed their DC Ellis Johnson after getting ka-chunged by Alabama and finishing 10th in the SEC in scoring defense. This comes one year after helping them reach the national championship game.
But more importantly, for anyone who thought Muschamp was a a contender for the Michigan DC job, there apparently is mutual interest. Muscshamp spent 2006 and 2007 as the Auburn DC.

It appears that Michigan likes to run coaching searches the same way it likes to run offenses, slowly and passively.

Either Hackett has a Harbaugh ready to go and is just waiting for the NFL season to play out, or Michigan hasn't learned jack from the past 2 coaching searches. Regardless, we will know by January or Monday.

I'm not saying anything will be different. I'm just laying out two different possible scenarios for why Michigan may be waiting (1 being they got a plan; the other being they got no plan or idea). I really don't care whether we fire him now or later because it honestly doesn't do anything.
This stuff generally happens behinds the scenes. If it saves speculation to keep the fanbase in a tizzy over why we aren't firing Hoke, then go for it. Make sure it works, b/c if the plan falls through chances are other coaches will be taken up by January.
Or Michigan can reassure its fanbase by firing Hoke as a symbolic gesture and invite speculation for its next HC since the spot will be vacant now.
Either route you choose, get it right. I'm all for either direction as long as it doesn't involve flying all over the country like a show man "acting" like you are interviewing qualified people when in reality under-qualified Hoke was your guy all along like Brandon did in mid-January.

As my name suggests, make the least assumptions to solve something. I''m gonna venture out and say that Hoke being canned is the only assumption we can make. That's it. Not assuming anything more. This'll be a fun ride.
Anymore such as a Harbaugh is coming, may lead to sadness lol.

burning the 30-day clock right down to the last 5 minutes, when Interim-Semi-Permanent AD Jim "Palpatine" Hackett announces that there aren't any acceptable candidates and therefore Brady Hoke will return in 2015. His new second-in-command Lord Debord then states that he finds our "lack of faith disturbing."

...watch Star Wars Episodes 1-3. What is the scenario by which Brady Hoke becomes a super powerful evil cyborg that senses his enemies movements before they even make them and destroys the planet Columbus just to prove to everyone he's not f-iing around?
'Cause if that happens in the off-season I am okay with giving him one more year.
November 30th, 2014 at 8:43 PM ^
You're getting your episodes mixed up. Hoke doesn't appear until Episode III, when he's the King of the Ewoks.

I always thought Hoke was Jar Jar Binks. Very likeable character who bumbles around and at times helps to defeat the droid army by clumsily launching projectiles out of wagon that destroys several droids and battle tanks. Howver, he is also responsible for getting Chancellor Palpatine emergency powers. We just got to take the good with the not so great.

You do realize that it is well over 20 years from when Palpatine takes over until the rebels, [muggles] actually amass the power and will to fight back against the evil empire that holds their beloved program under duress, until "A new hope" arises from Tatooine, [SF]? I hope it's not 20 years~

and indications are that they didn't actually destroy the Empire as a political unit anyway

Florida has candidates that they may want to hire now.
Nebraska definitely has candidates that they could hire now.
Michigan does not. It just sucks for us. All of our top candidates are still coaching.
Like I've said before, if Scot Loeffler was the OC for an undefeated Virginia Tech team and they were on back to back years of a BCS level run. Then you fire Hoke 3 weeks ago and bring Loeffler in now. He'd be the hot assistant coach everyone is buzzing about.
If Teryl Austin had a little more experience and he was the guy that was at the top of most lists. You'd fire Hoke and hire him now.
That's not the case for us. We're not looking at a hot/top assistant coach with Michigan connections. We're not looking at a hot/top head coach at a smaller school with Michigan connections.
Hell we're not looking at either of those withOUT Michigan connections. At least not at the top of our list.
Our clear cut top candidates are Harbaugh, Harbaugh, Mullen and Miles by most EVERYONE. That's NFL, NFL, SEC, SEC. If one was coming from a recently dominant mid-major program, this would be an easy call. That's not the case.

No, no, no stop making sense and stuff. I need someone to get fired NOW to make all these bad feelings go away. Can't you see how great the fans of Florida, Kansas and Nebraska feel now?

Guys
I'm worried about the coaching thing
I think Michigan is going to end up fucking around and Cam Fucking Cameron is going to be the Head Coach here.
Please help me overcome these fears.

Not much we can do right now while Harbaugh is still a month from seeing if he's done at SF. We just have to pray they miss the playoffs so if we don't get Harbaugh there won't be any woulda/shoulda/coulda's and we move on with another good alternative.
November 30th, 2014 at 7:02 PM ^
So you're saying we can't hire Muschamp as DC with Helfrich as OC under Harbaugh?
November 30th, 2014 at 7:06 PM ^
Waiting will drive us crazy but JH, Stoops or Miles would all be on the 1 month wait list.

It looks as if this might have been a crack that got a little out of hand, based on how he is reacting to the lambasting he is getting. The next person to post this tweet as an actual source gets the Flying Fickle Finger Of Fate award for their mantle. It's a nice award which will constantly remind its winner of how they are thought of.
