Stonum's 2nd DUI in spring 2011 got him suspended for the season by Hoke, then he transferred to Baylor.

Graham Glasgow got his DUI in winter 2014, then violated his probation that Spring. Harbaugh suspended him for the spring/summer, Glasgow did his legal requirements before moving in with his Grandma during the fall

You mentioning that brought up some memories, so I double checked and we were about 50% right each.

Stonum got pulled over in Spring 2011 for a DUI, and was suspended for the year by Hoke. He planned on coming back for fall 2012, but then in January 2012, he was arrested/jailed for driving on the suspended license before Hoke dismissed him from the team later than month.

This will become relevant soon when, as per my fantasy, OSU gets up to a 3-score lead on MSU at the start of the 4th quarter, whereupon every single member of the OSU starting 22 will suffer a spontaneous high ankle sprain.

If we are going to crucify every college kid who does something stupid it is going to take a long time.

He didn't hurt anyone.  He deserves some punishment.  Hopefully he has learned a lesson.  I see no value in ruining his life here.

College kids getting reduced sentences when they are first time offenders is not that unusual.  Hell, a cop let me off once when I was in college, clearly driving (soberly) recklessly going about 45-50 in a 25 one morning at about 7AM.  He just told me how much the ticket he wasn't going to write me would have cost and told me I didn't want to deal with that.

Except there are some things that are more stupid than others that don’t potentially endanger lives. A DUI is avoidable. It’s not just stupid it is majorly dangerous see Jerry Jeudy… Doing something stupid is like a public intoxication or petty theft but not where you could endanger a life.

Of course it is dangerous and stupid.  That isn't the point.

College kids do dangerous, stupid things ALL THE TIME.  Yeah, they deserve punishment.  No, ruining their lives over it isn't very useful.

Sure, if the kid had killed someone they throw the book at him.  Otherwise, give him some punishment, hopefully put the fear of "you almost ruined your entire life" into him and then get on with it.

There have been lots of studies that show the parts of our brain that handle making responsible decision making don't fully developed until after college.  That isn't to excuse bad behavior, but it means that it IS possible for college kids to still "grow up" and make better decisions in the future.

Exactly. 100% agreed with you

This holier than thou shit Michigan fans do is so stupid because if we saw a case like Zavier Simpson—who was driving the AD’s kid’s car that was registered in his wife’s name when he lost control of the car on a street with a 25 mph speed limit at 3am before lying to police officer’s about his name (“Jeff Jackson”) and was seen stumbling while retrieving his license & registration but wasn’t breathalyzed and was only issued a traffic citation for “driving too fast for conditions” and only suspended from the team for breaking the team rule of curfew—happen at a rival school, we’d have a thread on here wrongly assuming that the city and team were colluding to cover up what happened and going to town with it (exactly what RCMB and 11W did with the Zaiver case). Even though the evidence points to the authorities and school handling it correctly and the way they would have for any AA resident. Hell you have people on here so quick to forgive Taylor Lewan and Frank Clark for their past transgressions (which were absolutely horrific) because “they were young and made a mistake” but never give that kind of leeway to rival players. They’re all college kids who make dumb mistakes, winged helmet or not. So let’s get off the fucking pedestal
