OSU QB Jack Miller DUI charge reduced; reinstated to team
Because Columbus is going to Columbus. Perhaps the DA got paid a visit.
Pleads guilty to a lesser charge. Ryan Day gonna "take a hard look," immediately reinstates Miller to team.

4 star redshirt freshman, 3rd stringer
Gotta protect the future
November 18th, 2021 at 3:44 PM ^
If OSU pulled strings for this kid, it's to give him an easier time in the portal to open up another scholarship. Unless they know Ewers and McCord are planning to transfer and they need him as 2nd string next season.
November 18th, 2021 at 9:00 PM ^
I thought WOTS was that one of those two (whichever one is supposed to still be in high school) is attending OSU for the NIL benefits only, and is going to transfer somewhere else for next season regardless.
November 18th, 2021 at 3:22 PM ^
Probably reduced down to littering, that seems to be how they do it at the staee schools.
November 18th, 2021 at 3:38 PM ^
Littering and…
November 18th, 2021 at 4:02 PM ^
Take me to your supervisor!!
November 18th, 2021 at 5:22 PM ^
Yep, he got slapped with a littering charge. But the cop that pulled him over now has a weekend of community service picking up litter for his "wrongful arrest" mistake.

Everybody drives drunk, crashes into you, crashes into me…
November 18th, 2021 at 3:27 PM ^
I mean, not everybody's the perfect person. Everyone kills people, murders people.

color me shocked
November 18th, 2021 at 3:35 PM ^
Is the color of shock the scarlet, or the grey?
November 18th, 2021 at 3:30 PM ^
4th on the depth chart…was never going to beat out stroud (same class), McCord next class) or Ewers (next to next class).
kid will probably never sniff the field.

OSU has four 4*/5* QBs. Who knows which one will be the next Heisman.
November 18th, 2021 at 4:42 PM ^
I read Eleven Warriors a lot and they had this article about Stroud now being the favorite in one of the sports / betting site
C.J. Stroud Listed As Favorite to Win Heisman Trophy on FanDuel Sportsbook | Eleven Warriors

Until the inevitable happens and he somehow becomes the starting QB for "The Game" and proceeds to kick our ass.
Sorry, had to.

Im trying to remember DUIs from our teams and what the team punishment was. Grady? Stonum? One of the Glasgows? How much time did they miss?
November 18th, 2021 at 3:41 PM ^
Stonum's 2nd DUI in spring 2011 got him suspended for the season by Hoke, then he transferred to Baylor.
Graham Glasgow got his DUI in winter 2014, then violated his probation that Spring. Harbaugh suspended him for the spring/summer, Glasgow did his legal requirements before moving in with his Grandma during the fall
November 18th, 2021 at 4:19 PM ^
I may be misremembering, but I thought what ultimately got Stonum the season suspension was getting caught driving on a suspended license on his way to court or to meet with his probation officer?
November 18th, 2021 at 5:24 PM ^
You may be right - that sounds familiar.
November 18th, 2021 at 6:34 PM ^
You mentioning that brought up some memories, so I double checked and we were about 50% right each.
Stonum got pulled over in Spring 2011 for a DUI, and was suspended for the year by Hoke. He planned on coming back for fall 2012, but then in January 2012, he was arrested/jailed for driving on the suspended license before Hoke dismissed him from the team later than month.
November 18th, 2021 at 6:49 PM ^
No Stonum forced Gardner to receiver, which meant Bellamy was next in line when Denard got hurt at Nebraska.
November 18th, 2021 at 7:13 PM ^
-1 for reminding me of that.

(mumbles in Frank Clark)
November 18th, 2021 at 5:47 PM ^
Wasn’t he kicked off the team in less than 8 hours after the incident?
November 18th, 2021 at 9:03 PM ^
Yeah, after his second felony
November 18th, 2021 at 3:39 PM ^
Screw him and that school.
Beat Maryland!!
November 18th, 2021 at 3:45 PM ^
Per Cris Carter, this is a rookie error. Always have fall guy in your posse.
November 18th, 2021 at 3:58 PM ^
If the fall guy drives or can summon an Uber you can avoid this entirely.
November 18th, 2021 at 4:10 PM ^
Unless the driver is also legally impaired, like Coach K's grandson. Good fall guys are hard to find these days.
November 18th, 2021 at 11:18 PM ^
For all we know, Miller was the fall guy.
November 18th, 2021 at 3:45 PM ^
not sure this is different than for a normal cbus resident
November 18th, 2021 at 4:09 PM ^
Especially for a first time offense, this seems pretty common whether for you're a football player or not.
November 18th, 2021 at 4:39 PM ^
this is completely standard procedure in nearly all jurisdictions for a first time DUI that has no aggravating circumstances like injury crashes, fighting with the cops, extreme blood alcohol content, etc.
November 18th, 2021 at 5:33 PM ^
I’ve had a fair share of buddies that have received them (unfortunately), and with a relatively good lawyer, yeah it almost always gets pleaded down unless egregious
November 18th, 2021 at 5:39 PM ^
And I should add that I’m not condoning them. I think drunk drivers in the US should be punished harder, especially multiple offenders
November 18th, 2021 at 3:52 PM ^
If I were a prosecutor, I would under no circumstances allow someone to plead down from OVI/DUI.
November 18th, 2021 at 3:54 PM ^
This will become relevant soon when, as per my fantasy, OSU gets up to a 3-score lead on MSU at the start of the 4th quarter, whereupon every single member of the OSU starting 22 will suffer a spontaneous high ankle sprain.
November 19th, 2021 at 8:32 AM ^
Except you know that all of OSU's backups would come into the Michigan game and be just as good, if not better, than the starters they replaced, right?
Sorry to turn your fantasy into a nightmare.....
November 18th, 2021 at 6:11 PM ^
Your winnings, sir.
Oh, thank you very much!?
November 18th, 2021 at 4:00 PM ^
Why doth I care?
November 18th, 2021 at 8:25 PM ^
Yep, +1
November 18th, 2021 at 4:39 PM ^
If we are going to crucify every college kid who does something stupid it is going to take a long time.
He didn't hurt anyone. He deserves some punishment. Hopefully he has learned a lesson. I see no value in ruining his life here.
College kids getting reduced sentences when they are first time offenders is not that unusual. Hell, a cop let me off once when I was in college, clearly driving (soberly) recklessly going about 45-50 in a 25 one morning at about 7AM. He just told me how much the ticket he wasn't going to write me would have cost and told me I didn't want to deal with that.
November 18th, 2021 at 4:56 PM ^
Except there are some things that are more stupid than others that don’t potentially endanger lives. A DUI is avoidable. It’s not just stupid it is majorly dangerous see Jerry Jeudy… Doing something stupid is like a public intoxication or petty theft but not where you could endanger a life.
November 18th, 2021 at 5:09 PM ^
Of course it is dangerous and stupid. That isn't the point.
College kids do dangerous, stupid things ALL THE TIME. Yeah, they deserve punishment. No, ruining their lives over it isn't very useful.
Sure, if the kid had killed someone they throw the book at him. Otherwise, give him some punishment, hopefully put the fear of "you almost ruined your entire life" into him and then get on with it.
There have been lots of studies that show the parts of our brain that handle making responsible decision making don't fully developed until after college. That isn't to excuse bad behavior, but it means that it IS possible for college kids to still "grow up" and make better decisions in the future.
November 18th, 2021 at 5:01 PM ^
Exactly. 100% agreed with you
This holier than thou shit Michigan fans do is so stupid because if we saw a case like Zavier Simpson—who was driving the AD’s kid’s car that was registered in his wife’s name when he lost control of the car on a street with a 25 mph speed limit at 3am before lying to police officer’s about his name (“Jeff Jackson”) and was seen stumbling while retrieving his license & registration but wasn’t breathalyzed and was only issued a traffic citation for “driving too fast for conditions” and only suspended from the team for breaking the team rule of curfew—happen at a rival school, we’d have a thread on here wrongly assuming that the city and team were colluding to cover up what happened and going to town with it (exactly what RCMB and 11W did with the Zaiver case). Even though the evidence points to the authorities and school handling it correctly and the way they would have for any AA resident. Hell you have people on here so quick to forgive Taylor Lewan and Frank Clark for their past transgressions (which were absolutely horrific) because “they were young and made a mistake” but never give that kind of leeway to rival players. They’re all college kids who make dumb mistakes, winged helmet or not. So let’s get off the fucking pedestal
November 18th, 2021 at 4:53 PM ^
Damn it. Now they’re gonna beat us
November 18th, 2021 at 5:04 PM ^
His excuse was he drank 15 beers that had his last name on the can.
That's good enough to get charges reduced in Columbus.
BTW - Taylor Lewan was always seen riding a bike for a reason.

In other news, UM pass rushers might knock out my QB1 and I’ll need him.
