If “football should be played despite a pandemic” is such a core belief to anyone that it rises to the level of “protest-worthy,” then that person needs to get their priorities checked and I weep for their kids being raised by such an emotionally immature idiot.

No way you have kids man. Seems like the people who fetishize the "safety" of children to the point of absurdity don't actually have them. Governor Dewine just announced Ohio is having high school football! Decision was based on.....wait for it...the medical experts! So we can watch high school football, the Browns and Bengals but not the Buckeyes or my beloved Rockets. What a joke. Keep supporting the institution though, I'm sure all they care about is the children. "But what about the children?"

He’s getting a free education to a very good public university, and you don’t have to exactly be a genius to make millions in this country.  Colleges aren’t minor leagues for the NFL.

If he feels that strongly about it, drop out and get all the players together that want to have a season and form teams and get a league going.  You don’t need stadiums full of fans.  Universities are holding up their end of the bargain - they’re not pulling scholarships.  You still get your degrees.

It's really not an exaggeration.  I have a very close friend who's a HUGE OSU fan and has gone to all home & away OSU football games for years (except Michigan - he's convinced he'll be treated in AA the way he sees M fans get treated in Columbus) and he has no clue what to do with his weekends this fall.

He's completely lost.

I highly doubt he will get sucker punched, or have his car keyed, or get a speeding ticket going one mph over at the border, if he came to AA....   because all three will happen to many, going to Columbus

Yep, been there for the Game 3 times (2004, 2006, 2008). Been sucker punched, had lit cigarettes thrown at us (in front of cops, who did nothing of course), and had our car peed on by a 45 year old man. Great times...

And you're correct that those things are far less likely to happen in AA.

Technically if he's flying into Chicago he'd need to quarantine for 14 days because he's coming from a state (FL) designated as a hotspot for COVID-19.  So he'd need to wait 2 weeks before he could stand in front of an office complex and yell loudly about his kid not being able to play football.  I'll admit I don't know Illinois geography enough to determine if this airport is within the city limits but my guess is the airports follow similar rules if not within the confines.

Again, in no way do I think he's thought that deeply about it, but figured it was worth pointing out.

O'Hare is actually still city of Chicago (one of the 77 community areas!). But practically speaking, if he stays in Rosemont he's fine. I don't know if the city has actually fined anyone yet anyway.

It'd be hilarious however if our Michigan-alum mayor had people monitoring them and slapped them with fines if they go somewhere in the city besides just flying in/out of O'Hare...

Uh no I don’t support that. But again, it was a joke. I would support actual enforcement of the rules, because people like you can’t seem to do what is needed to help us get through this pandemic.

Like ijohnb, you need to take a break from the blog dude. If you’re getting worked up over comment like the one above, you’re clearly in a bad place. Log off for a bit and focus on something else.
