I don't know, to each their own.

I follow him on twitter because he gets lots of info as a beat writer but I find any time he attempts to make an insight it misses a larger picture or is just plain stupid.

He is also unbearable during games with the live-tweeting.

Newspaper writers should stick to print. There's a reason you never made it into broadcast journalism.

However, that Quinn guy is possibly the best writer I've ever seen at MLive.

Chengalis is a Buckeye fan and a Cincy grad. Lloyd Carr used to give her shit during OSU week. I don't see you calling her out here.

Frankly, I find this entire thread amusing. People disagree with what a writer says and the crowd responds by saying he a hack and has no journalistic standards.

Someone even compared him to Drew Sharp. seriously? sharp has been writing negative columns for decades, Nick has been on the beat for 3 years. Your argument is invalid.

As for having no "journalistic standards" or whatever, no no one was saying that two months ago after the Shane Morris concussion when Nick hammered Hoke about protocol. Hoke was rude, condescending and said something along the lines of "you'll get it one day."

Neither of these guys are good writers. Nick has always been overly downtrodden and condescending to the fanbase in order to make himself feel good. Quinn's writing is dramatic cliche after dramatic cliche. But there's nothing wrong with this video or its content. Its just what you expect from any writers after this game. The vitriol here seems misplaced.

the rhetoric about all that matters is winning and losing is overblown.  Hoke was rude/impetulant with the media in spite and comes off very clueless during press conferences.

no one would care about his petulance. Jim Harbaugh can be an asshole yet everyone one here is lusting after him. That is puts to the lie the "outrage"  over Hoke's supposed  petulance to the media.

No one really gives two fucks about a coach's demeanor. It's the wins and losses.

If Hoke were winning he would be given the benefit of the doubt. But he isn't, which means he has to over-communicate what he thinks is wrong and how to correct it. Saying "we practiced really well but just didn't execute" is only marginally better than saying he hasn't got a clue. And from all outward appearances, he seems in over his head and has given no one any reason to have confidence in him.

Do you see any local media in Gainesville kicking Muschamp on the way out?  How about last season in Austin, anybody do the same to Mack Brown?

It's not all about winning games.  Being a douche for no reason as a head football coach is a recipe for disaster if you don't win those games.

an absolutely horrible ambassador of our program in terms of interface with the media. Inarticulate, petulant, misleading and generally just an asshole. Look at the tape y'all.

You know, I'm sick of all the "Brady's a good guy but he has to go" nonsense.  He's been an asshole to every outward-facing media source and because of his bumblingness has been a shitty face to our football team in general.

11-2 and we defend his horrible pressers.

5-7?

Nope.

Brady Hoke may not be a good or even competent coach, but an asshole? I've never heard anyone who has dealt with him accuse him of being an asshole.

What I do think is that you are immensely frustrated with the losing and have allowed that frustration to color your opinion of the man. In other words he is an asshole because Michigan is losing. That is what you really meant to say.

Hoke also lied -- or spoke out of both sides of his mouth if you want to sugar coat it -- and thought we were all too stupid to notice.  Doing that to anyone will piss them off.  Especially people that have to write about your program every day.

I don't get why people are so pissed about this video. This is the first (and will be the last) of these videos I've watched. Doom and gloom? He just talked accurately and calmly about the game and about what happens with Hoke now. What's he supposed to say? We'll be in the playoffs?

The doom and gloom here is so much worse than anything they said. Hell, the doom and gloom talking about these guys is worse than anything they said. People are even personally attacking him. I don't know how he's drawing attention to himself except that, ya know, he's part of the media. Is he supposed to wear a mask and have a voice modulator?

Thank you. Spot on.

I hear so much combining here about everything having to do with this program and while some of it's justified to get upset at a media member having a similar sentiment is laughable. He gave his opinion just like everyone else. The difference is that someone is willing to pay him for his.
