New Year's Day Viewing Plans?
Since the last snap of the regular season, the days at MGoBlog have been (over) ripe with relentless CC chatter, prolonging each day to a near eternity. While college football has recently resumed, the run of throwaway bowl games with their tortured corporate epithets has done little to sate the senses of this Michigan faithful.
On Saturday, that will all change as we witness the final three hours of our 2010-11 season.
So with the big day nearly upon us, I ask what grand plans have you hatched for our first bowl game since Jan 1, 2008?
- Where are you watching the game?
- Who are you watching with?
- What other NYD bowl games do you plan to watch?
- Your drink of choice will be _____ ?
For me, it's
- At home, in 54" of glorious high definition.
- Typically watch the game with 2-4 other M grads who live nearby plus token appearances by my family who sometimes tolerate my viewing habits.
- I'll probably Tivo the Alabama v. Michigan St game and watch later if it's a remotely close game. Am definitely planning to watch the TCU v. Wisconsin Rose Bowl matchup live.
- A sampling of cervezas. Projected starting lineup includes: (1) Stone Brewing Co.Ruination IPA, (2) Lagunitas Brown Shugga' Ale and (3) Rogue Dead Guy Ale. Coming off the bench if the need should arise: Sam Adams Boston Lager, Corona, Heineken, and Molson Golden. If things go severely awry I have about a half a bottle of Makers Mark tucked away in the up-high cabinet.

I'll have a full bar set up for the Decision 2011. I'm betting they don't announce RR or Harbaugh until at least the 5th hour of the show though.

Have pretty much chased family away after last couple of years, they give me a wide berth come game day. Dog has still not come out of the basement after OSU game. When Michigan is on, if I can't swear, I can't talk.

3. It would be nice to see all of them but that will be a mathematical impossibility. Does looking at text message updates count?
4. Probably some cheap beer in a stadium cup. Or a flask of Captain and Coke in my back pocket.

No worries. I will actually be happy if someone is picked. Then this CC crap will be over. Although I wouldn't want to be in the same place I am (with PSU fans) if Michigan loses. That is an automatic bad trip/multiple homicide waiting to happen.
Someone else must man the nuclear silos on NYD, I won't be around a computer.

We'll start there and see if that helps the recovery. If it does, cerveza of some variety but not enough to prevent finding my way to section 141, row E... I'll have my son with me if things get ugly and gate 4 is harder to find than it should be.
The two cable boxes back home will be recording as much as I can program.

I know the game is aired on espn3.com as well as on ESPN2, but will it also be available for replaying on espn3.com after the fact?

1. Sitting at my desk, watching atdhe.net or channelsurfing.net or something similar.
2. No one.
3. Whatever else is competitive and/or interesting. Probably check in on YTMSU for kicks and giggles, and the Rose Bowl for Win It Or Else.
4. So Co, straight from the bottle. I got a Kroger gift card for Christmas and I intend to use it.

2. My wife, her family, some college friends who live over there. I'll be the only roundeye in the room.
3. None, +13 hour time zone different is murder (oh god it's +14 now, argh, other damn side of the world).
4. Tequila I smuggled past customs officials in two countries (this part of the plan still pending) and Charm Soju (Slogan: Made with REAL sugar).
I think the best part of this will be I'll be one of two people in the room who know who RR and JH are. The rest of the room will be learning what a "first down" is and why Denard's shoes are untied.

Have my tape recorder ready for the Gator Bowl for my next diary. I relinquish my nuclear duties for a day.

3. I have 3 tvs in my basement so I'll be watching Bama kickin sparty's ass along with the probably boring offensive displays that will be put on by psu and fla on the smaller tv's, then def watching the TCU/Wiscy game.
4. Depends on how the game goes...if Michigan loses or it gets ugly fast, you can probably disregard #3 as I'll be passed out with the good Captain next to me
