New Pup Name
I recently found a pup hiding under my jeep at the local dog park. He's a mix of about 4-5 different breeds, but is mainly terrier and daschund. Someone abandoned this little guy and I couldnt just leave him there. I need to pick a great name for him and need some help. As of now, he is known as "SMOKEY". This may stick or may not. I want to go with a Michigan or BBQ themed name. He will be my sidekick for next seasons BBQ recipe posts, so I need a great name. THX!!!!

That's what I named my dog. It really is a great dog name, w/ a great Michigan reference that isn't very common with dogs. It's the best on Gamedays when he is all decked out in his Michigan gear.

Harbaugh

This is the correct answer given the current climate of Michigan athletics. An acceptable alternative could be Beilein.

JimBo.
I mean did the OP really have to ask? Within 5 years all dogs in the Ann Arbor area will be named Harbaugh.

I suggest Schem. It honors Michigan, it has a nice ring to it, and you can call him "Schemy."
EDIT: I was also thinking something related to our new coach, but god forbid something bad happens, you don't want your best friend to remind you of that.

My personal favorite on this list. Different. Good call name.
Just name the puppy "Barky Bark" then when he gets older and a little more mature call him "Bark Wahlberg" but what do I know.
Our 5 yr old lab is named Schemey. Came across the name after hearing it used for a Dalmatian tailgating in the Brown lot with his/her owners. Lastly if you use the sites search function you'll find some other quality posts that may have more suggestions not covered here.

You're a good person! The dog is in great hands.
BBQ names - Brisko (brisket), or pull the Rob Dyrdek and name him meaty.
Michigan - Bo, Brady, Chuck (kinda goes with both), Woody, Heisman.

I know you are honoring Woodson, but too OSUish.

Yeah, I realized it after the fact. If you're okay with explaining it, go for it.

I don't see why not. During World War II, Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery named his dogs Hitler and Rommel.
Add Sauce "Saucy" Castillo to the Michigan names.
My friend has dogs named Captain, Stoli and Skyy.
But if you need a UM name, go for on less obvious like Mister Simpson or Dorrenstein

rhymes with 'No,' for starters. Comedian Steven Wright named his dog 'Stay,' so when he says 'c'mon stay,' the dog advances and stops repeatedly.

Bill Clinton named his dog Spot...

Named a little dog I have "Shoelace" .... My first choice, that my wife didn't go for, was "Denard Robinson." True story. Haha

Stubbs would be amazing for a bulldog.

Albeit true, that name could be considered cruel. I laughed out loud at seeing that.

Just endearing. I have a good friend that has a lab/corgi mix. Funniest and cutest dog (I do say they're all the cutest though). But this dog has a total lab body, head, face, tail, personality..but on corgi legs. It's like he is 2" off the ground. So funny when he comes running!

Meme Name: Bo-BQ Sauce Castillo
Harbaugh Obsession Name: Jim Har-BQ (or Harbaugh-Q)
Dog Show Name: Go Blue-BQ in the Big House
Bad Dog Name: Falcon Dong Punch
Big Puppy Name: Mitch
NOTE: none of these names is particularly serious, except maybe Mitch, although it'd take a real mgoblogger to get the big puppy connection. I guess if it's a small puppy, it could also be an overly subtle ironic name.

I just named my new little boy dog "Blue". It's fun to say "you're my boy, Blue" and "Go Blue Go" etc.

My dog's name is Mitch.
What about "Bump"?

What about "Blaze" ...Another word for fire and well suited to a dog with a fiery spirit.
Congrats on your new canine. Go Blue!

Had planned to get our current dog a mate 4 years ago, but life happens and we held off until now - at that time the name was in honor of Hoke... now we just like the name

Named my Chihuaha puppy Brady in 2011 when we got him. Obviously, not the best choice. Most of the family now call him F.P. (fu*ky puppy). I just tell people we named him after Tom, not Hoke.
My older dog is named Bo.

Go, Coach! Good boy, Coach! Dammit, why didn't we go for it on 4th down, Coach?!?

After much back and forth I finally got my girlfriend to agree to "Yost" as our new pups name.
April 14th, 2015 at 10:55 AM ^
I always mention this because I'm very proud of my pup. I named my dog Woodley. It's less common, and celebrates one of my favorite seasons of football.
