I picked him up for my fantasy team the week he was announced as a starter as a "what the hell, why not" decision, and it has been my best pick up all year. Regardless of my fantasy team, I couldn't be happier for the guy. Cheers to Denard and his bright future!

I think our Wolverines come out with a lot of passion and energy and keep it competitive in the first half, with a halftime score around 17-10 or 21-14 OSU. But in the second half Urban shows why he's the better coach and makes adjustments that Hoke can't keep up with. Our defense gets beat on a deep pass and a 50+ yard run right up the middle and the Buckeyes pull away as their D line punishes Gardner in the second half.

I do think he's ready to move on from Michigan, and given the team's struggle the last 3 years I can see why he wants to get the heck out of Ann Arbor. But I just can't help but think he could go so much higher in the draft if he stays and can at least cut his drops in half and make a few big plays next year that catch NFL GMs attention. One thing Funchess has going for him is that even if he stays 1 more year, he'll still only be in his 4th year at college (no redshirt) which means he won't necessarily lose value for being only 1 year older. And who knows, maybe if he stayed he could really make a jump in the offseason and get closer to reaching his potential. But I do think he's gone unfortunately.

I think Funchess still would get drafted next year no matter what because of his combination of size and speed; it's hard to believe all 32 NFL teams don't think he would be worth at least a 7th round pick even as a project for the future. And honestly maybe staying another year would be good for him. He might realize that he's fallen way short of expectations and put in more effort in the offseason as a senior. And another year at WR could help him improve his blocking & route running as well

It could mean that he is sitting on his hot seat, but once getting off his seat, the only place to stand is on ice that is perilously thin. Kind of a, "you're screwed however you interpret it."

More turnovers, fewer wins.

I agree Devin looked a heck of a lot more comfortable in the pocket and running the football (granted the O line was much better and more consistent then). But I haven't seen any Michigan receivers this year go get the ball like Gallon did. Gardner's regression shows how much Gallon helped last year especially.

He would've had all the players that fit his manball style of coaching, including a sophomore Ryan Mallett. Unfortunately Carr's personal issues with Les were more important than hiring the right guy, according to Martin.

"So what is the point of all this?" Beilein asks, wondering why anyone would fuss to retrace his steps searching for who he actually is.
"Well, I just don't get it," he says. "I can't imagine why anyone would care."
Classic Beilein. What a great article.

I agree that the point of hiring Rich Rod was to modernize Michigan football, and I still think it should've been a good hire. But when your new head coach knows nothing of the traditions at an institution where tradition is literally the only thing keeping us relevant, you have to realize that might cause a problem with alumni, former players, coaches, and others in the athletic department. I agree that it was a culture problem, and it's tough to change the culture. It's up to the AD to notice these potential problems, and Martin did not do so, which is the point I was trying to make.

They lose their scandalous sweatervest, and UM's kryptonite, and replaced him with a two time national championship coach who's 50 years old... And as long as he has his quarterback... err I mean is in good health, he won't be leaving any time soon.

I know it's always easy to blame it on coaching but I think it's more on who's hiring the coach. When you hire a coach with MAC experience only with a sub .500 record, you're just not going after the right people. And while RichRod was a good coach, someone had to realize he just wouldn't fit in this program. So for me, all eyes will be on this AD search

It's sad that our passing offense is thought of as opportunities for interceptions. But I'll have to agree with you. Here's to hoping Deveon and DJ have a day

In my opinion isn't it usually less important games that are played at noon? It just seems that games against easy non-conference teams or not as competitive Big Ten games have been played at Noon in the past, at least for Michigan, which is why we might have a much stronger record in those games.

I think everyone's getting a little too confident of our defense. Factor in Indiana not having a QB and Northwestern's offense being Northwestern's offense, it's easy to look at our defense as making progress. But Maryland's passing offense actually has a pulse and I think could exploit our weak secondary. And I've just lost all confidence in this offense. 20-10 Maryland :(

I never thought I'd see the day where I'd be rejoicing the start of basketball season more than football... But enough negativity, I'm excited to see what our wizard head coach can do with this young group.
|13 weeks 12 hours ago||Malzone, hands down||
We absolutely need to keep Malzone. I had a similar conversation with my buddy a few days ago, and he had some interesting comments. He is good friends with Malzone's older brother and was hanging out with Alex during the summer. He recalled catching passes with him and said that every single pass was right on the money with very strong velocity. Apparently when talking to Alex, Alex said that he doesn't care who's on the depth chart now, he said he's gonna come in and beat everyone out and start from day one. This confidence, in addition to the fact he's done nothing but win state championships at Brother Rice and has broken nearly every school passing record makes it imperative that we keep him. Luckily for us, I think Malzone is committed to Michigan regardless of the head coach.

If you can score in the NBA, defense really doesn't matter. Just look at Hardaway's star teammate. I've never liked Melo as a player because he sucks on the defensive end of the floor and, while he scores a lot of points, sometimes forces his shots, resulting in a field goal percentage much lower than you'd expect from someone putting up the amount of points he does.

Taylor's gone, now you have to expect others will follow, starting with Chris Clark. That's the #6 DB and #2 TE respectively, and who knows who else will follow... We're in serious danger of losing a lot of high level players now.

2 of which came against an O-line that may be even worse than ours from last year (PSU). So 2 sacks in 6 games against not horrible O-lines isn't exactly impressive
