New offer: 2018 QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson
Michigan offered 2018 Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson. This is potentially significant because his mom is a Michigan alum. Also, he's a 247 Sports 4-star, the #4 dual-threat QB, and #72 overall in the class. Right now he's a backup to 2017 QB Tate Martell - who started a recent fuss when he decommitted from TAMU - so he hasn't had a full-blown opportunity to show his stuff, but Michigan State, Missouri, Oregon, and Utah have all already offered, too. He's visiting for the Aerial Assault QB Camp in a week and a half.

No comment in regard to my balls. Right now there are Crystal Ball picks for UCLA, but the Bruins haven't even offered yet.
However, I do think Michigan has a very good chance. His visit for the Aerial Assault QB camp will be the second time he's paid his own way to Ann Arbor, and he's always spoken highly of his interest in Michigan.
Potential Michigan QB named D. Robinson? I'm in!
....or last name could be shortened to just "T-D", I'm in!
Uh, wat?
Then its DVR......I am sure where ever this kid goes he's going to be on every fans DVR.
I do think Michigan would take two quarterbacks in a class. They tried to do it in 2016 (Peters, Viramontes), and Harbaugh did it at Stanford, too. Did you have someone else in mind for the other top-100 QB in 2018?
Sitkowski is 2018, too. I thought you might have meant Dylan McCaffrey, thinking Thompson-Robinson was a 2017 kid.
It's not even 9:00. No need to stop drinking yet.
Brandon is gone--we can drink all night.

Wonder if/how this might affect Artur Sitkowski? He seemed to rave about working with Harbaugh and company at the satellite camp.

I'm not sure how it will affect Sitkowski. He's a pocket guy, while Thompson-Robinson is a dual-threat guy. It's the type of situation where Michigan could take both and look at DTR as an athlete, although I doubt that would fly with him if he thought he wasn't going to get a fair shot at QB.
It could be a race to the finish to see who commits first. I think those two are the most likely QBs to be in the 2018 class right now.

Sparty offered? Seems like they're trying to go with more QB's that can run lately versus the type they traditionally have under Dantonio. Is this a change in offensive style for them or just a coincidence that the QB's they like recently can run a bit better?
I don't think it's a change in philosophy so much. It's the general direction the game has gone, but MSU took a pro-style guy in 2016 (Messiah DeWeaver) and have one committed in 2017 (Rocky Lombardi).
Jayru Campbell. I don't read anything into offering dual-threat QBs that can throw. They could fit into any offense.
I agree with your point. That being said, there was a lot of talk that Jayru Campbell was more of a pro-style QB, despite some sites ranking him as a dual-threat guy. Personally, I saw him more as a pro-style guy who doesn't fit the mold of a guy who can hurt defenses a ton with his legs. He's a pro-style guy who can run a little bit, kind of like a Jake Rudock type of athlete. FWIW, here are Campbell's highlights from playing at a community college in Kansas this past season:
How cool would it be to have Speight be a first round pick in 2018 after his redshirt Junior season, have Peters take the reigns in 2019 be a first rd. pick after his redshirt junior season, the same with McCaffrey then so on. Lofty goal, but they're all talented players coached by the qb whisperer.

I can't do it.
But you all proceed.
This will be some recruiting job if Harbaugh can get 2 top-100 QBs in the same class...
HARBAUGH COMIN'!
RicFlairAPPROVES!
One thing I didn't understand...
Artur Sitkowski was given a MASSIVE bump on 247's rankings after Harbaugh/Michigan offered (and became the leader). When I asked the national guys to explain their rationale, they went radio silent. I couldn't help but be suspicious...
I know Harbaugh has a stellar reputation as a QB whisperer but maybe the recruiting sites need to be less conspicuous...
hyphenated names belong to us.
is around 50%. Maybe guys feel a lot more comfortable taking their mom's name if she is the primary caregiver? I mean usually the dad's surname is commonly used, but if parents are divorced I completely get the hyphens. Also, this is pure speculation. I have no knowledge of any of our recruits with hyphenated names.

The Latiino countries have been doing this forever. Their last name is accepted as from the mother's family. For instance if the last two are Guzman Hernandez, no hypens, it would mean the dad was a Guzman and the mother was of the Hernandez family. Think it only right to honor both families.
We ran into a football player last year whose "last name" was Rodriguez Rodriguez. Luckily, they didn't put names on the back of their jerseys, because I don't think that would have fit.
