National Championship Game Open Thread
Well, it'll probably be a short thread, since everyone has already said they're not watching tonight. But for those that are, it's the end of college football on the field for awhile. Gameday on. Pregame in about half an hour. It'll keep us busy till the Two and a Half Men Open thread starts later tonight.

That's one of the worst interceptions I've ever seen. Reminiscent of Stanley Jackson tossing it to Andre Weathers (except Jefferson wasn't about to be sacked).

sequences that I have witnessed in a football game. That was one fearsome tackle by LSU's QB.

Jefferson looks like he's gonna curb-stomp someone...
January 9th, 2012 at 10:36 PM ^
These overrated chants are hilarious.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:36 PM ^
Give Jarrett Lee a chance! Nothing to lose now!
January 9th, 2012 at 10:36 PM ^
How does a leg get in that position? Broken femur? Damn.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:36 PM ^
and Jefferson is looking around like it was someone else's fault. And this is the best team in the land??
January 9th, 2012 at 10:36 PM ^
jordan jefferson is a joke
January 9th, 2012 at 10:37 PM ^
What the hell was that? If Lee doesn't get put in, then Les has really gone mad.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:38 PM ^
with this offense? I get that Alabama is stout, but wow. Jefferson is not very smart. And, 'Bama seems to know every single play that LSU is running.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:38 PM ^
I hope the AP voters have the balls to vote Oklahoma State #1.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:47 PM ^
For what? Eeking by Stanford?
January 9th, 2012 at 10:49 PM ^
You make it seem like Stanford is a bad team... Also, they still won in the end.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:54 PM ^
And Alabama will have plastered LSU after tonight, circling back to the Iowa State vs. LSU argument.
January 9th, 2012 at 11:14 PM ^
January 9th, 2012 at 10:38 PM ^
Haven't seen a leg bent like that in a while. Godspeed, young man.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:39 PM ^
A Bama win would be good for Michigan even if their entire defense leaves we'll get the name recognition by beating Alabama.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:39 PM ^
The frustrating part is that this should have been us in 2006, taking our revenge on Ohio after the close loss in Columbus...
January 9th, 2012 at 10:39 PM ^
of the aerial coverage of a dome, nothing like it.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:39 PM ^
If Moseley is out for awhile...he ain't gonna have a scholie no more. Sincerely, Saban.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:40 PM ^
LSU did not show up on the offensive side for this game. Too tight? Too redundant? 'Bama's defense is good, and LSU's offense is not one for the ages. But srsly, 2 first downs all game? COME ON MAN.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:42 PM ^
This is really pathetic so far. I don't care how great the defense is, two first downs is just flat out inexcusable.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:40 PM ^
What are the odds LSU gets two TDs plus a 2 pt conversion. Unless LSU goes to their other QB and he sparks them.

I met a traveller in an antique land
Who said 'Six vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert
And on the pedestal these words appear
My name is Ozymandias, King of Ants
Alabama, King of Ants
January 9th, 2012 at 10:41 PM ^
At least this game is going faster than normal, seeing as how it's played at ESS EEE SEE SPEEEEEEEEEED
January 9th, 2012 at 10:42 PM ^
over.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:42 PM ^
You know how in OT teams have to start going for TDs after enough series? Can they enforce that rule for the entire 4th quarter in this game?
January 9th, 2012 at 10:45 PM ^
January 9th, 2012 at 10:47 PM ^
Is already under that rule.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:43 PM ^
LSU asshats booing Jefferson. That would be the equivalent of Michigan fans booing Denard or Devin during a game.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:46 PM ^
"Jordan Jefferson is to Denard Robinson as video porn is to the felt reality of human love."
-David Foster Wallace, paraphrased
January 9th, 2012 at 10:44 PM ^
Is it too late to take the Heisman from RG3 and give it to Jordan Jefferson? What a playmaker!
January 9th, 2012 at 10:44 PM ^
Scouting for next year;
McCarron picks up blitzes very well. Blitzes CANNOT be telegraphed off the edge, or must have a safety cheating up to cover the vacated receiver.
Bamas LBs are VERY good, but very few of the LSU O-line getting to the second level.
Bama DBs very aggressive, working through WR blocks on bubble screens. Partly due to lack of a deep ball by Jefferson I guess.
Borges better work on vertical passing with Denard in the offseason, and our WRs NEED to run better routes against these DBs.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:47 PM ^
Chances that most of these kids are still on the team next year? Highly unlikely. This Alabama team won't be the one in JerryWorld.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:53 PM ^
There is a lot of depth on that Alabama team with the 2384923984 schollies they gave out.
I think they lose their center and the Outland winner will probably go pro. Their offensive line against our DTs worries me.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:44 PM ^
Lol @ Jefferson getting booed...
January 9th, 2012 at 10:45 PM ^
Sucks.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:45 PM ^
Is Lee hurt or something? I have the game on mute over there, and I didn't read anything about this game ahead of time on account of, you know, it being pointless and all.
But now it's becoming a little bit interesting as an exercise in futility and embarrassment.
So why isn't Jarrett Lee in? Why wouldn't you put him in that last series, or, better, the one before?
January 9th, 2012 at 10:45 PM ^
Hope most of these buggers for Bama are graduating or declaring for the NFL
January 9th, 2012 at 10:47 PM ^
No kidding
January 9th, 2012 at 10:46 PM ^
making our Sugar Bowl effort look like Fielding Yost's "point a Minute" teams. Wow.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:46 PM ^
January 9th, 2012 at 10:47 PM ^
He is a spitting image of Trent Richardson. He will be tough to defend next year.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:47 PM ^
When they have superior talent they can put up a lot of points. They typically have better athletes. The problem is when they a good defense their WRs get no seperation and Jefferson isn't accurate enough or good enough of a decision maker to make them pay. And with Bama having a good D, it means they can rush 4 and watch Jefferson just stand back there and look like he has no clue, which is what is happening.
Michigan has a really good offense when they can get seperation at the WR position. It opens up the run game and makes them unstoppable. When they struggle doing that the whole offense bogs down (see: MSU, Ill., VT).
LSU has the same problem. LSU has a good offense verse bad teams, inflating their ranking. When a team doesn't have to respect anything longer than 10 yards they are screwed.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
not Illinois?
January 9th, 2012 at 10:48 PM ^
LSU, Y U NO TACKLE?
January 9th, 2012 at 10:48 PM ^
TOUCHDOWN!!! Oh, wait. Nevermind. Everyone go back to your business. Nothing to see here!
January 9th, 2012 at 10:48 PM ^
It's almost like touchdowns are not meant to be scored.
