National Championship Game Open Thread
Well, it'll probably be a short thread, since everyone has already said they're not watching tonight. But for those that are, it's the end of college football on the field for awhile. Gameday on. Pregame in about half an hour. It'll keep us busy till the Two and a Half Men Open thread starts later tonight.

Saban: "I love you, you're our guy, miss the next one, and you're getting a medical hardship."

This is like watching a big budget movie that goes NOWHERE!

Waterworld?
January 9th, 2012 at 9:22 PM ^
Does Maze get to catch a flight with the team after the game or will Saban cut him at halftime?
January 9th, 2012 at 9:23 PM ^
LSU's exceptional punter with so very many opportunities reminds me of Zoltan the magnificent.

Kirk Herbstreit adds nothing to those deodorant commercials

Lame ass commercials

Borges coaching LSU's offense? :)
January 9th, 2012 at 9:26 PM ^
Man i wish I was watching some Okie State O right about now.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:29 PM ^
Totally agree. We've seen this game before, and it was pretty boring. I want to see teams that have different styles clash, not two teams that play not to lose.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:31 PM ^
essentially.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:49 PM ^
This is almost an insult to Tressel-ball. People forget, but he opened up the offense when he had playmakers (like with Troy Smith). Saban and Miles would never even try to foster a competent offense.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:04 PM ^
but it's not like Tressel wanted to get away from it, he just made it work with what he had.

I like O and was excited as anybody when we brought in RR, for example. So watching defensive football on TV is not my cup of tea if I don't really care about the teams.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:12 PM ^
Yes, you're right. They have an insurmountable 9 point lead.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:27 PM ^
I'm starting to remember why I wasn't going to watch this game.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:28 PM ^
At least our sloppy shit-tastic New Orleans-based game was entertaining in its sloppy shittyness.

"Smelly, well sniffed out." Nice Brent.

on purpose.

Hey, he's got to do something to keep himself entertained.

Bama is threatening to double the lead.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:30 PM ^
All jokes aside about the quality or boring nature of the game...this Bama defense is SCARY. Who are the big names on this defense and how many can we expect to go pro?
January 9th, 2012 at 9:35 PM ^
They lose a lot next year. Add the possible early departures, and they could lose even more. If Hightower and Kirkpatrick leave, which they very well could, they would be losing 3/4 of their LB and 3/4 of their DBs.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:30 PM ^
That Alabama offensive line makes Wisconsin's line look like smurfs

January 9th, 2012 at 9:59 PM ^
Doesn't bama have a 6'2 and 6'3 OG starting?
January 9th, 2012 at 9:31 PM ^
While I don't particularly care for Alabama, I'm rooting for all of its juniors to have big games. Chase your NFL dreams, gentlemen!
January 9th, 2012 at 9:32 PM ^
I think the 2 terrible QBs make these good defenses look like impenetrable defenses.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:39 PM ^
i think you are exactly right
January 9th, 2012 at 9:33 PM ^
Color me surprised that McCarron is absolutely outplaying Jefferson. Nothing else about this game has been overly surprising, but he's playing a damn solid game right now.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:33 PM ^
Haha, I really hope LSU pulls out a close on after struggling early. That totally proves that LSU didn't belong in this game and just got lucky.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:36 PM ^
LSU deserves to be there no matter what. It's Bama who has something to prove.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:33 PM ^
January 9th, 2012 at 9:38 PM ^
high-scoring than that last one, anyway. Six-zip already in the second quarter!
Final score: AL 24 LSU 0. All eight of AL's scores are field goals.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:34 PM ^
LSU looks incredibly unspectacular tonight. Give Bama credit at least for trying to throw downfield and fake the field goal. This game is still boring, though. It's like LSU doesn't realize this is a title game. Then again, maybe it isn't. If LSU keeps it close they could still end up the AP champs.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:51 PM ^
They looked unspectacular on offense all year. If the BCS wanted spectacular they would have manipulated the system to put OkSt and Oregon in the championship. Might as well have, they do what they want anyway.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:35 PM ^
I'm starting to understand why no one watched football in 1955.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:39 PM ^
+1,000,000 to you sir.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:36 PM ^
Is that for 2 game total or just this one? (*sarcasm* for any sec grads on thread)
January 9th, 2012 at 9:41 PM ^
Hell, that was an easy under if true. I would have assumed it would have been upper 20's tops.

I'm glad I put on my big-boy underwear for this big-boy football game so far

January 9th, 2012 at 9:38 PM ^
Somehow I feel like I've seen this game already.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:38 PM ^
To be fair, the Sugar Bowl was 6-0 until Hoke pooped rainbows to the tune of 10 points in the last :49 of the first half...
