National Championship Game Open Thread
Well, it'll probably be a short thread, since everyone has already said they're not watching tonight. But for those that are, it's the end of college football on the field for awhile. Gameday on. Pregame in about half an hour. It'll keep us busy till the Two and a Half Men Open thread starts later tonight.

I'm going to bed way before the game is over, that's the problem. However, the NCAA obviously didn't want to compete with the NFL on Saturday or Sunday and didn't want to play the game on Friday (too many casual fans would pass).

I really dont mean to be dickish but I used to have that problem when I was 13 and my parents wouldn't let me stay up to watch the MNF.

January 9th, 2012 at 8:08 PM ^
I forgot about the game altogether until I saw this thread.

Also, is the highest density of people in America with less than a high school education currently found inside the Superdome?
January 9th, 2012 at 8:05 PM ^
wild guess, I'd say there are a lot of Alabama and LSU grads there
January 9th, 2012 at 8:11 PM ^
with tickets going for 1000 & up.
January 9th, 2012 at 8:05 PM ^

In other news...
January 9th, 2012 at 8:09 PM ^
I'm rooting for a power outage. Not going to watch this travesty. Or maybe a whole lot of missed FGs, can't balme SEC DEFENSE for those. And then we can watch the kickers suddenly come down with boneitis and recieve medical scholarships.
January 9th, 2012 at 8:13 PM ^
How about those LSU dancers? Boiiiiiiiiing
January 9th, 2012 at 8:18 PM ^
From a Michigan point of view, isn't it better to root for Bama for 2 reasons:
1 - Opportunity to beat defending National Champ in September
2 - Winning a National Championship may entice more Alabam juniors to go to NFL, thus increasing the odds of point 1.
??

Yeah, but is it worth rooting for Satan's son and spending all of eternity in the pits of hell?
January 9th, 2012 at 9:43 PM ^
3) Alabama win increases the chances (however small) of BCS armageddon.
January 9th, 2012 at 8:20 PM ^
Man, that was a brutal National Anthem
January 9th, 2012 at 9:52 PM ^
I thought the same thing. I don't remember ever seeing a singer's voice actually crack during the national anthem.
January 9th, 2012 at 8:21 PM ^
Anthems I've ever heard. His voice was cracking FERGODSAKES

I'll be curious to see if Bama runs Mathieu a few times after that stunt he pulled on Kirkpatrick last game.
January 9th, 2012 at 8:26 PM ^
Is such a crock of SHIT!!' fuck the rematch
January 9th, 2012 at 8:29 PM ^
get over it already, the large majority of the coaches and media voted these teams 1/2. and why do you care, unless you're an ok st fan, the emotion behind this is so bizarre
January 9th, 2012 at 8:32 PM ^
About 2006. We didn't get a rematch why should the SEC get one!!!
January 9th, 2012 at 8:35 PM ^
because the voters thought Alabama was worthy and we werent. Two completely different teams and situations.
January 9th, 2012 at 8:38 PM ^
Still Weaksauce and I would rather see Okie state rather than a rematch. Just my opinion! Besides Bama had their shot at home and lost
January 9th, 2012 at 8:28 PM ^
As I predicted, I said I wouldn't watch the game and I caved.
I hope Alabama wins just for the BCS Chaos it could cause.
January 9th, 2012 at 8:28 PM ^
How can you think LSU-Alabama and not be reminded of McEnroe-Bjorg?
- random ESPN producer
January 9th, 2012 at 8:33 PM ^
....at "The Thrilla In Manila". My sense of literary injustice disappeared right there.
January 9th, 2012 at 8:46 PM ^
Saban and McEnroe are of similar moral character.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:45 PM ^

Man...these two fan bases are just nutty. What a bunch of savages. Whats the over/under for amount of stabbings in the parking lot after the game?
January 9th, 2012 at 8:29 PM ^
The microphone can't handle Les Miles's craziness.

Is that the first time the Superdome has ever been called beautiful?
January 9th, 2012 at 8:37 PM ^
I was down there last week and was surprised, I thought the Superdome was awesome.
January 9th, 2012 at 8:31 PM ^
My girlfriend rented Water for Elephants and we are going to watch that instead. Not even mad...
