MSU Linebacker Jon Reschke likely done for the season with foot injury

Submitted by SAMgO on

Spreading fast on the boards/twitter this morning. Rumors of ligament damage. They're having some major LB injury issues so far this year, as Riley Bullough is also week-to-week with an undisclosed injury, rumored to be another collarbone issue.

It's amazed me how MSU has avoided the injury bug. Sucks for him, hope he makes a full recovery, but certainly not sad for state. They need another 2012 type season to bring them down to earth.

They have no linebackers, they have no QB. Thomas O'Conwell has done terrible this year. Damyoung Ferry cant throw the ball.  The sky is falling.  Next thing you know, Damntoni will be headed to LSU to get away from Harbaugh.

To be fair, Davis hasn't played yet this season and it's unclear when he'll be ready to go. If Bullough has a broken collarbone, there's not much anyone can do to get him on the field at a productive level until it's healed, which can take 6-8 weeks.

Bullough is already out, so losing Reshke means both ILB's are gone.  That's tough for any team.  I know Shane Jones was playing in place of Bullough last game, he looks OK.

I started typing before realizing I may not be helpful in answering your question, but this is the interent so I won't turn back.  That Dowell kid is pretty good, and Frey has been OK, though I don't believe either is an ILB.  Again I'm not helpful here.  And I know there have been complaints on Sparty boards that Ed Davis is well over a good playing weight.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy... In all seriousness that sucks and I feel bad for the dude but I'm happy for Sparty. Their LB play the last few ears has been dirty and cheap and I blame that mostly do to the Bulloughs so it's hard for me to feel too bad.

for the kid and MSU.  I'd rather beat them by 48 points with everyone on their team in tact.  Now all the Spartan fans are gonna use "injuries" as an excuse for the blowout.

Again - why do you care what their excuses are? If they're making them, it means we won. And most teams will make excuses even if they don't have a good reason to do so. And if they do and you want to reply, you can bring up Jeremy Clark (or any other M player who is injured in that particular game) or simply mention that this is why depth is important because injuries are a part of football. Or just make fun of them for making dumb excuses.

I'll echo Xtra Melanin's point and say that to see a guy lose a year of a career that has such an incredibly short shelf life is unfortunate.  MSU may be annoying, but I don't like to see things like that happen to any player.  Here's to a successful recovery and a realization that he needs to go to the pros early and get paid.

Am I a bad person for having brightened slightly when I read this?  Didn't any of you do the same?  Yes, it's sad for the kid, just like it's sad for JC.

I hope he fully recovers and can play again, but for now, I'm just being honest.

I thought they just reloaded in East Lansing?  Can't wait to see how the Sparty slaps on BTN justify all of their garbage pre-season analysis of this team.  BTN has basically been the Spartan ass kiss club since August.

We weren't at full strength last year with Mone done for the year, or Joe Bolden for a half thanks to an awful targeting call. We just lost Jeremy Clark for the year, so for this years contest both sides not being at full strength offsets. Oh and no Drake Johnson. Mone is expected back this week or next?
