MSU Linebacker Jon Reschke likely done for the season with foot injury

Submitted by SAMgO on

Spreading fast on the boards/twitter this morning. Rumors of ligament damage. They're having some major LB injury issues so far this year, as Riley Bullough is also week-to-week with an undisclosed injury, rumored to be another collarbone issue.

Historically MSU has been the 3rd best "original 10" big ten school behind Michigan and OSU when looking at wins and win percentage.  Obviously when PSU and Nebraska were added they have more wins and a better win percentage which bumps MSU down to 5th but when looking at the original 10 they are #3 with Wisconsin behind them at #4.

But yes it would be nice if we could get them back to being behind us, OSU,and PSU.

I get that it's Sparty and one of our rivals, but I hate to see good players get injured. This was one of the very few Spartans who I enjoyed watching. But it's a part of the game and just like Clark, I'm hoping for a speedy recovery.

such an incredibly short shelf life.   your window to play in college is so small and tenuous that it really is a life-changing event to lose a year.  of course we all want to win, beat sparty, go blue, etc, but on a more personal level, it is very rough on the kid.  i hope we hand their heads to them on 10/29, but also that the kid heals up well.

Yeah that's one thing about the game of football that sucks. You want to see the best players out there doing their thing, but all too often there are injuries that prevent it. The NFL is the worse, but the game of football in general is unlike any other sport in that regard. We're in a sad sad place if we're hoping that our rivals players are injured so we have a better chance to win. We should be at a place where we always want to beat their best. No excuses and the better team won. I hope they're healed up for that game.

Too bad for him he is a great player. I was bummed when he did not choose Michigan. It seemed like we got in on him late. Was that the transition year? MSU is loaded at LB but that is getting thin now. It will be interesting to see if Davis gets back to form.

I seem to remember maybe a thread or two about him during his recruitment, but yeah, his father was a lineman at MSU in the 1980s, as I recall, so even if we'd made a serious effort, it was probably a non-starter. I think Reschke had actually flipped spots in the linebacker corps at MSU too and by most reports was doing quite well, so quite unfortunate for him and the Spartans.
