Minor factoid - Narduzzi loss trending well

Submitted by CLord on

Lots claimed the Narduzzi loss would be minor since Dantonio is the real defensive guru in E.L. but I was checking out the current Total Defense team rankings:
1. B.C.
2. Michigan
3. Pitt (Narduzzi)
...
77. MSU

MSU's sans Narduzzi, coupled with UM with Harbaugh/Durkin is trending very, very well toward a quick restoration of this rivalry to it's regular state, so Mark better get as many of those blue chip recruits as possible this year before the inevitable pull of nature takes its course.

To be fair, State had already lost a lot of the players that made the defense what it was. They were going to have a down year even if Narduzzi stayed. But damn, they just plain fell off a cliff without him. I always had an eyebrow raised when i read people here writing him off, saying State wouldn't miss a beat, or that Dantonio was the REAL brains behind the defense. Nuts. Great coordinators matter. Just ask the Buckeyes offense, or the Lions offense, for that matter.

Trust me, there is a Narduzzi effect. The guy is incredible and his energy is absolutely infectious. This edge and intensity that he provided is exactly what Dantonio can't provide and the MSU defense has a completely different personality without Narduzzi.

Yeah, he'll be back there in three years as HC. Dantonio will never beat Harbaugh. You can't rely on luck and gimmicks with a coach that plans as good as Harbaugh. Michigan is executing a different plan now each week and MSU is falling apart. I've dvr'ed and watched all of their games and they're getting worse each week. Cook has seemed to take the biggest step backwards. Injuries have become a major issue. It's clear the brains behind MSU are coaching at Pitt now.

Call it the paranoia of the last decade of Michigan football, but I get a sneaking suspicion that the reason State hasn't looked good these past few weeks is because they're spending all their time gameplanning for Michigan and ignoring the "lesser" opponents on their schedule. I like M's chances on Oct 17th, but it's not going to be an easy win...

Bingo..i also think he has a mater plan up his sleeves the guy is not stupid. He knows that Michigan and OSU are the only two teams that stay in his way, so msu will play flawless football when they play us i guarantee you. Msu is playing like crap because they havent open their game plans completely..Dantonio has something brewing for us and thats whats going to be scary..I hope Harbaugh has something brewing for them as well since we dont have a naive coach anymore who is clueless

No, I get the logic that he could end up back at MSU.  I'm just saying if some other large program like Texas or LSU picked him up before Dantonio was done at MSU that he might  not be inclined to go back for what could be less money.

Emphasis on the word HOPING in that previous post.

Michigan's defense looks good, but I also think we've gotten a break with some bad backup/injured QBs. Luckily, there aren't many stellar QBs in the conference though. Obviously Cook and Cardale are the midterm and final exam.

Seriously, have confidence UM will give MSU all they can handle. Remember MSU is undefeated still, is gunning to retain their recent dominance over UM, and will be up for the game . I have a deep hatred for sparty, but implying they are halfway in the grave is naive at best, flat out stupid at worst.
