Michigan will play Cincinnati at the Big House in 2017
Will play home/home in basketbll in 2015 and 2018, as well.

I like it. Cincy is usually pretty solid in the Big East. Sure beats MACTION
Maybe not an elite program right now, but a pretty regular NCAA participant, which is always good in the nonconference.
This is a huge scheduling plus if it's just a home game with no return game. Cinci is a way better team for that than what Michigan can usually land
I agree that it's a good get, but it's not too far outside of what's normal. We have Colorado, Oregon State, BYU, and Hawaii coming to Ann Arbor in the next few years without having return visits planned.
Hawaii for an away game....the week before a bye....could be pretty sweet for the team though.
Playing at Hawaii is always a good thing. It means you get to schedule a 13th game (i.e. another home game).
We'd be losing to Ohio's little brother.
Well aren't you just a Debbie Downer today, Dwight.
I'm not sure if Cincinnati could even claim that for their status. OSU really has no in-state rival. I'd say they're more like an only child.
Or perhaps more like a convict in solitary confinement?
Look at this way. Beating them will drive Dantonio even more crazy....it will be like beating him twice in a season.
Who's got a grumpy face?
shouldn't his first name really be Marco? And wouldn't we all feel far more conciliatory toward him if it were?
I hope that the Big Ten picks up Cincinnati so that Ohio has to play a "little brother" rivalry team that hates them and averages one win every three games in football, but always plays them extremely tough. If Michigan has to play a "little brother" in the conference, it's only fair that Ohio does, too; it helps level the playing field.
If only Cincy's stadium was a little bigger, I wouldn't mind an away game down there
and have in the Bengals Stadium. Not sure how many butts it holds but got to be an upgrade from where UC normally plays. Hell - I'd go.
Go Blue!
That could work, I totally forgot about that. Would be nice to have an excuse for a weekend in Cincinnati
"Excuse FOR a weekend in Cincinnati"? Shouldn't that be FROM? I can't really remember ever asking a bachelorette party where they were going and having them yell "Cin-Ci-NNATI!!!!!!!!". Not exactly up there on my places-to-visit list.

I'm originally from Cincinnati. It's a nice place, once you get past the fact that no one ever goes downtown. That's why you visit Cincinnati, but hang out in Newport.
Newport is awesome and i think a lot of people on this board would really like it. Spend the day at the game then head across the river for some nice food and drinks. lots to do in a small area.
Oy. Downtown Cincinnati now has excellent restaurants and cool bars with good live music. Newport has... Bar Louie.*
Newport is for out of towners who don't like not going to chain restaurants because they're afraid they might not get EXACTLY what they expect. Downtown Cinci is for people with at least a shred of adventure in their souls.
* To be fair, Newport also has Hofbrauhaus and Cincinnati has McCormick & Schmick's, so I guess it's not as black and white as I'm making it sound.

I hear you, man. I was mostly being facetious. I actually love the places in downtown Cincy that I've been to recently. I also love Northside and several other locales within the city.
While we'll never be confused with a Chicago or NYC, the Cincinnati downtown area is going through something of a "rebirth". New casino just opened downtown and lots of new restaurants/bars in the Banks and stadium area. As mentioned, Newport is also a fun place to hang out before/after games.
Cincinnati isn't going to make anyone's bucket list any time soon, but it's a pretty decent downtown (for the midwest) these days.
They almost always move their big games to Paul Brown, like when they played Oklahoma a few years ago.
Nice. Very nice.
They have a funny stadium name. It's Nippert Stadium. That's funny.
My magic 8-ball says Not Likely.
It will probably be whoever the head coach is at CMU right now.
In my opinion, our ideal nonconference schedule once we go to a 9-game B1G schedule is one game against a top-tier opponent (alternating in home-and-home series), one home game against a mid-tier but respectable opponent like Cincinnati, and one home game against a MAC snacky cake. Getting teams like Cincinnati to come to Michigan Stadium without a return trip is the most difficult step in that plan, so I'm glad to see that we could do so (although the possibility of doing this makes me really wonder why we're going to play a game in Connecticut's 40K seat stadium this year).
Poll Topic: What are the odds that UC is in the Big Ten by 2017 anyway?
UC has the 2nd or 3rd worst athletics budget in the BCS. And they offer us nothing in landscape or viewership.
There's a better shot Michigan leaves the B1G than Cincinnati joining the conference.
...Rutgers.
..................Rutgers.
......................................Rutgers.
............................................................Rutgers.
If you ever need to vomit, just keep repeating that word in your head. Makes me physically SICK to remember that Rutgers is now in the Big Ten. Honestly. Fucking sick to my stomach.

It's not so awkward if you just remind yourself that "Herm" is actually some relatively young dude posing as an old curmudgeon.
Delany has stated several times that he wants to go after new, large markets outside the traditional footprint that he can give the Big Ten Network access to. Which is why schools like UNC, Ga Tech and UVA are probably high on his list whenever the next wave of expansion comes.
games should be more interesting than the football game. Watch out for Bearcat striped adidas outfits in either case.
adidas. And the basketball jerseys are God awful.

It's the shorts that are horrible.
So this means we will beat two teams from Ohio at the Big House in 2017.
Here's the official release from Cincinnati - (LINK). They have a few Big Ten teams on their football schedule over the next several years actually.
"UC will face a number of Big Ten Conference football opponents in coming seasons, playing host to Purdue to open the 2013 season and traveling to West Lafayette, Ind. to open 2016 along with road games at Illinois in 2013 and Ohio State in 2014 and 2018."
It was touched on above, but it seems pretty clear that Dan Enos may very well be coaching the Bearcats by this time, the way the typical coaching progression seems to go for Cincinnati. I do like the basketball aspect of this move in particular though - those would be pretty interesting games, I would think.
Wasn't Cincinnati in the Great Midwest Conference the last time we played them in hoops?
UM season ticket holder...and UC Law graduate.
Looking forward to this one...and yet, somehow, not. It's like when UM plays my undergrad alma mater (Miami OH). I obviously want Michigan to win, don't get me wrong, but I always start the game out by saying, "well...I don't want to see Miami get crushed." This nice sentiment fades away very quickly when the game becomes a little too close. Then it's all, POUR IT ON!
I still remember freaking out a little bit prior to the 2004 opener vs. Miami, when Henne was announced as the starter -- right at gametime.
"Munchie Legaux" over the Michigan Stadium mics died a second time today, 4 years too late.
*Sigh*
Nick Van Exel is gonna go off.
will probably be in the big 12 by then
Don't you mean the America [Fuck yeah!] 12? Or have been misunderstanding this whole conference realignment thing?
Cincy is one of the non-Catholic schools that's in the "Old Big East." At least I think.
