You sound like a Spartan.
October 24th, 2016 at 8:19 PM ^
and you continually sound like the emu/wmu/cmu grad that you are.
see, for example, your position on native americans

This is why some people hate Michigan. People like you. There are many reasons people choose not to attend Michigan. Some don't feel like forking over such an insane amount of money for a teaching degree for example.

A dude with a "BEAT OHIO" avatar didn't go to Michigan? Color me shocked.

It's a damn avatar bud. Get over yourself.

Or they don't offer the degree you want...
October 24th, 2016 at 8:41 PM ^
But I'm not a directional grad. I'm just not a member of thr precious snowflake PC generation, like you are.
And Michigan grads know how to capitalize and type in complete sentences. Or have things changed that much on campus since the 90's?
October 24th, 2016 at 8:53 PM ^
Hey, any of you privileged, uppity sons of bitches know why Michigan Monday isn't up yet?
October 24th, 2016 at 9:20 PM ^
realize you're offending your daughter behind her back with this comment? Or, do you call your kid/s and their friends "precious little snowflake PC whimps" for endearment?
Also, the past was not better than the present. Society has leaped forward in so many ways yet sad old men and women continue to bitch about the present. Not saying you are one, but you're sounding like it.
October 24th, 2016 at 9:42 PM ^
A time or two, but she knows it comes from the right place.
Two more things since I can't edit my post. I did not in any way mean to denigrate directional students or alumni. Except for Amanda from EMU. She's still on my list 20 years later. Bitch.
Second, I'm a straight, white, married male. For someone like me, the world was absolutely a better place in the past. I would have had it way easier if I was born in the 30's instead of the 70's.
That's not to say I'd trade now for then, mainly because every other group had it worse. I'm actually pretty progressive, but I have a visceral disdain for political correctness.
October 24th, 2016 at 9:49 PM ^
I'm tired of older people (especially family members) saying everyone my age (mid 20s) is soft. Entitlement is problem throughout western society across nearly every age.
And trust me, only the shittiest students brag about school prestige. It's a weird way to justify poor performance.
Let's break by hating on Amanda from EMU. That bitch.
October 24th, 2016 at 9:59 PM ^
Especially since everyone else did!
And you're right, I shouldn't be so critical of the generation coming up behind me. But in my defense, I'm Gen X. We hate everyone, including ourselves.
October 24th, 2016 at 10:40 PM ^
Don't I know this Amanda?
October 24th, 2016 at 10:47 PM ^
Honestly, I've never known a gal named Amanda that WASN'T a bitch. But I went to Ypsilanti High so most chicks were bitches.

She's was a great gal until I realized I had to pay for the lap dance. I agree...very dishonest girl.
October 24th, 2016 at 11:56 PM ^
and there is no doubt Amanda is a class A Bitch. I will read further to see if she left any of life's lasting lessons for anyone, or possibly they did not exist then. As you were: I'll be in the area all day.

"I'm tired of older people (especially family members) saying everyone my age (mid 20s) is soft."
Sounds like something a soft person would complain about.
October 25th, 2016 at 1:59 AM ^
the world would be a lot easier for you if you owned slaves as well.
October 25th, 2016 at 8:16 AM ^
And world war 2 and all, plus all those modern day conveniences. But yes, way better.
October 25th, 2016 at 9:30 AM ^
Those are the things that made what Tom Brokaw deemed the "Greatest Generation". Adversity breeds excellence. We haven't had any real adversity for some time now. Not surpising that we have more "soft" people today than we did 50 years ago.
October 25th, 2016 at 10:26 AM ^
I'm sure WWIII is right around the corner. It's been too fucking quiet for such a long time.

October 24th, 2016 at 9:04 PM ^
We prefer to be called Indians, or American Indians, actually.

Completely. I prefer both to the alternative. I'm really proud to be part indigenous.
Would like to think my Indian name would be "drinks Buckeye tears."

Lol. As you should be! I am too brother.
October 24th, 2016 at 9:29 PM ^
My CMU degree has served me just fine. Not everybody who goes to EMU/WMU/CMU ends up there because they couldnt or didnt get into a better school.
October 24th, 2016 at 9:29 PM ^
As a person with my Bachelor's degree from UofM I will say that where you went to school (or even if you didn't go to college at all) does not lock you into any position as a fan. You can be a quality fan or a crappy fan either way.
October 24th, 2016 at 9:32 PM ^
I'm not remotely going to get involved in whatever argument you guys are having about (I assume) native american mascots, but really, you're trying to school/degree shame someone in 2016?
October 24th, 2016 at 9:58 PM ^
People resort to personal attacks when they don't have shit else to say.
I don't need a Michigan degree to see that you're just a fucking mega-douche with a holier-than-thou attitude. Get a fuckin' life, mate.

vs the non-alums, but as a fellow alum, I'll tell you you're in the distinct minority among us. Sure, there's walmart faction (like in every fanbase) but there's also the snobby entitled alum faction which makes me cringe just as much
October 24th, 2016 at 9:32 PM ^
I will never understood why some alumni choose to be elitist jackasses.
October 24th, 2016 at 10:03 PM ^
I made a diary post about this sometime ago. The responses I got were incredibly supportive. Thank God this Sparty-lite didn't bother to post back then.
October 24th, 2016 at 8:53 PM ^
that you are a somewhat substandard fan if you did not attend the university.....?????
October 24th, 2016 at 9:27 PM ^
And my opinion is that insulting a group of people while trying to take a stance or give an opinion is dumb AF.
It has nothing to do with taking a beating...
To be honest, I'm sure people may actually agree with your opinion if you weren't being a complete jackass.
But carry on.
October 24th, 2016 at 9:47 PM ^
Trying to be serious and not snarky. But why do you care? I didn't attend Michigan but I die a little inside when we lose, I'm ecstatic when we win. I pay a ton of money for tickets and apparel (at Mden). I practically grew up in the shadows of the Big House and my earliest childhood memories with my father are going to games there. I mean, I don't really care what you think about me but I am just trying to understand the psychology as to why somebody would take the energy to complain about fans who did not attend the school.
October 24th, 2016 at 9:58 PM ^
...I remember my Dad saying that there were people who didn't attend the University, but that were die hard fans. He called them 'subway alumni' (no idea where the term came from). He said that it was a sign of how good the University was, and that Michigan was proud to have them.
the entire 'walverine' thing is a Spartan made slur, as far as I know. Screw them people. Its a Bullshit term. I'm thrilled people who didn't go to UM are such big fans.
The irony is that over the past 10 years I've bumped into a ton of die hard Spartan fans who never went there.
October 24th, 2016 at 10:44 PM ^
the 'walmart' fans because they are jealous of them. When you got something good, people scramble to be a part of it. They want what we got, don't have it, so they denigrate it. Simple as that. So let's see if the boys can put a colossal beat down on them Saturday such that they have even less non-alum fans and we collect more! Any non-alums out there, welocome aboard, there's more fun on the way and plenty for all!
