Michigan vs. Alabama 2012 at Cowboy Stadium??
Its behind a paywall and apparently just a rumor, but there is a report on Scout that Michigan will be openning its 2012 season against Alabama in Dallas Texas.

Hopefully by then its will be defending national champions Michigan laying the beat down on a strong Crimson Tide squad...
Would definitely be cool to watch a game at Jerry World.
Would be nice to catch a game in under 3 hours driving radius.
Everyone within a 3 hour driving radius can see this game on that ridiculos big screen...

they had to wait to set up the game until the Space Emperor was gone.
they should do it at Soldier Field or as a home and home.

Home and home, Yes. Soldier Field? Ehhh not exactly. Even though we all hate the Cowboys, the truth is that Cowboys Stadium already has more prestige than Soldier Field. Plus imagine the good it would do in Texas recruiting if Michigan were to beat Alabama in Dallas?
Remember the 2000 Orange Bowl...?

All bowl games.
All three games went right down to the wire, too.

to their campuses/stadiums, when the game's being played in a state in which neither school is located?

I missed that part of what yo were saying my bad... but whats wrong with doing it in dallas?
That sucks that would be 2 OOC games in one year that would be away from the Big House.
You prefer UMASS at MICH instead?
I mean we could be like a certain school down south that only leaves their state for an OOC game once per decade. Well done Mr. Brandon!
I'm interested to know which school you're referring to. The only two I would imagine you'd be talking about is Ohio State or Notre Dame. ND is obviously out of the equation. OSU has been to USC and Texas, and they have 4 games scheduled this decade at BCS conference teams.
Are we talking Florida?

I think its UF

or Georgia.
August 5th, 2010 at 11:35 PM ^
Georgia went to ASU last year, and I think Cal 4 years ago.
August 6th, 2010 at 12:36 AM ^
UGA game vs ASU was their first trip outside the Southeast US in 40 years.
Which is correct, but we were talking about leaving the state, not just the general area.
Georgia played at Arizona State two seasons ago, but they opened at Oklahoma State this past season.

I was thinking OSU or (insert power SEC school here) and blanked on the USC visit for the Bucks.
A game like this would be great for the program's profile nationally. And if we beat them in Cowboys Stadium to kick start a good season? That's a feather in our cap for years and years.

I don't think the game sucks I would love to play Alabama, but in 2012 we play at ND. This would be a 6 home game season at best. I would love to see a home and home.
Well hopefully by then, there will be a 9 game big ten schedule, where Michigan would have an extra home game
9 big ten games, 3 OOC games.
Even if we get 5 big ten home games that year, since ND and Alabama would be away games that leaves at most 1 more OOC game at home. Totalling 6 home games instead of the 7 or 8 we play every year currently.
It still sucks.
I don't think the ND contract has been signed yet. They may be keeping their options open with the 9-game B10 schedule. To hell with Notre Dame. Let's play Alabama and then get some home-and-homes with some other top notch teams.
Yes, this is a great move by DB if it comes through.
Call Dave Brandon DB.....

How about D-Bra?
If this is true i may just stay in dallas a couple extra days and miss my first couple classes.
win is make sure we can hit our extra points. I already know how Bama kickers are at those!
neutral site games. I'd prefer a home and home.
But shit man... that would be a brutal schedule. 9 Big Ten games, Notre Dame and Bama away. Oh well, I say go for it, and I vote home and home. I don't think it makes any sense whatsoever to play a Big Ten/SEC game in the heart of Big 12 country, no matter how big and sparkly Jerryworld is.

It makes perfect sense. Dallas is in the heart of Texas, which has a ton of recruits. If they see a high profile game in their territory that isn't the Longhorns, then we get more exposure. There will be a lot of hype around the game and it will be a good chance for RR to invite some huge prospects out to see the Maize and Blue. Not only that, but we are playing an SEC team which will also be viewed by our southern recruits. This is a chance for a lot of eyes on UM, and many of which will be top 100 recruits.
Plus Dee Hart can run all over The Tide and HaHa (fingers crossed).

Why play in Texas when we have perfectly good stadia in both Ann Arbor and Tuscaloosa? It makes more sense than playing USC in Atlanta, but not much more. Texas is really far away, and I would hate to lose the home game (especially since ND is away too). I'm all for playing big schools, but not at neutral sites, and not if it means there are only 6 home games.
Plus, assuming it would be Labor Day weekend, going to the football game is the highlight of Welcome Week. The game on Saturday gives everyone something to look forward to (except drinking) and a good reason to drink in the morning.
by 2012, Will Hagerup will turn into Zoltan Mesko 2.0. Do you think that the Cowboys are going to charge us for a new scoreboard?
Zoltan would hang a punt over the scoreboard, obscuring it from sight until the entire team was breathing down the neck of the return man.
we won't need to punt ever again starting this year
It makes little sense. Play a home and home with Bama. Neutral site games are terrible for college football. See nearly every bowl game not played in January, and all conference championship games outside the SEC seem poorly attended (exceptions for a couple of bowl games like the Holiday for instance). One of the reasons college football always seemed better than pro to me is the campus settings with the band, student enthusiasm, pagentry, etc. Moving a game to a pro stadium nowhere near either campus seems pointless.
Besides the big bowl games, the only neutral site games I can remember are the Red River Rivalry, but that's played every year in Dallas, which is at least close to Oklahoma and actually in the state of Texas and the World's Largest Cocktail Party (if it can still be called that), but again, played in Jacksonville which is actually in Florida which borders Georgia.
Of course MSU is playing at Ford Field against FIU (or FAU?) this year - I'm sure that place will be rockin'!

The game in Atlanta (whatever it's called), has been really successful. It could work out okay to have a one-time game in Dallas, but I'm still on your side. I kind of like two or three stress-free Saturdays each fall.

This would be awesome. Please happen.
It would be the biggest program win in a while. Well, except the game just before it where we win the National Championship.

If this is true then it shows that Dave Brandon has a shit ton of confidence in Rich Rodriguez to get the job done at Michigan.
There's no way in hell Brandon would schedule Michigan vs Alabama at Cowboys Stadium if he thought he'd be hiring a new coach in 2011 or 2012. No way.

That puts the winged helmets 4.6 miles from my house. Please, please, please, football gods... make this happen.
