Michigan versus Kentucky, Elite 8 open thread
couldn't have asked for a better effort
Damn Nik got a good look
Good bye Nik. We loved you.
What a great team. Still have to wonder what we would have done with a healthy McGary all season.
Thanks J-Mo and all who shall depart...
Great game. Tough to swallow. Hate the fact that the media is gonna remind me about UK's run over and over during this next week.
Yup. Kentucky beat a damn good team. I hate to say it but best of luck to them.
it feels bad. real bad
Great year boys. Thanks JMo, and Stauskas. Fucking close, just not enough. Nik prolly could have gotten a bit closer
Why didn't we throw it to half court and call timeout? That's always the best play there.
Well On Wisconsin I guess.
It was a great game. It hurts to lose, but it was still a great game. Great season fellas. Already excited for next year.
Incredible game. Maybe my heart will start again soon.
Thanks J Mo, sorry your last season ended this way.
looking up at something as he walked towards the bench, as the wildcats mobbed themselves behind him, then looking towards the bench and moving on...
I think if we had played Louisville -- we'd be headed to Jerryworld.
I'll be okay
This one will sting. For a long time.
The athletes prevailed today. Calipari babysits NBA players for one season, Beilein turns college players into NBA players.
Some teams invest in the development of their players. Caliperi prefers to just rent guys for a year.
Hindsight is 20/20, but wish we would've called it once Nik crossed halfcourt.
Not enough time to call time out and then inbound and get off a clean shot. Nik had a great look. He needs a bigger back yard to practice those.
Wouldn't it be the worst thing in the history of sports if an 8 seed 10 loss Kentucky team won a championship by beating a Florida team that they had lost to in the three previous meetings? It'd be the all time worst of fairy tale endings.
Im very emotional right now but I feel like Beilein has cost us the National championship last year with sitting Burke so many minutes, and now today with Horford etc. At this level you gotta play your horses and see what happens! I love Beilein, I would not trade him for anyone but he is not without fault.
If I recall correctly they made a run with Morgan on the bench to get back in it!
I believe they went +8 in that stretch or something along those lines, but I've already deleted the game from my DVR and wouldn't watch it again anyway.
Let's see if you feel that way tomorrow
How quickly we forget life be Coach B
To make myself feel better, I am going to blame that loss on the refs. Fuck you refs. And fuck Kentucky too.
for saying michigan this year feels like kansas last year.
Nik couldn't have taken a few more steps, but spit happens. Refs let the game be UK's style, the guys played valiantly. And that was an ice, cold 3 by a twinkie.
The good news is that I no longer need to watch basketball this season. And I can finally wash my Michigan t-shirt.
MOTHERFUCKING STATISTICALLY ANOMALOUS PERFORMANCES.
That said, super proud of those guys. Hell of a year.
This was a well played game by both teams. What can you do, he hit a great shot with a hand in his face. No regrets!
2 years in a row they blow my expectations away.
That was a great game, and Michigan kept it close.
This one stings but not as much as I thought it would. It hurts to see our team so sad, I know they are all competitive and hate to lose but I hope they realize how much they accomplished this season and hold their heads up high. We learned a lot about our program this year, our coaches, it's been a great great season. Now we wait for the announcements about who is coming back. Can't wait to get DJ Wilson and Kam Chatman in here and see what they can do, and I expect Zak and Derrick to have a big jump next year like Nik and Caris did this year. Go Blue!
They shot 54%. Won't win many when you let that happen
We win all the time with that kind of performance, actually.
It's when they make 54% and rebound over half their misses when things go badly. And we still have them if they make their usual percentage from outside.
Good game, made then take the shot at the end we wanted they just made it under pressure.
As I said on twitter, you know you care about sports too much when, after a loss, you try to put your life in perspective...sitting up here telling myself: "i got a good job, I need to be thankful that I'm even a position to enjoy a sporting event. Could be in a 3rd world country..."
Sad as shit right now. Good game, great run. Kentucky made shots that they haven't made all year, hats off to em...
Hindsight is 20/20, but should've called TO when Nik got to halfcourt. We still had 1.3-1.5 on the clock.
We had about a 1% chance of pulling off anything there, no matter what we did.
but certainly no reason to hang our heads...great season and great effor tonight
They have a tie game, and about 4 guys on the floor that can pretty much walk down the lane and lay it up or dunk it to win. Intead, they decide to take a fade-away 3 from a 34% 3-point shooter. It was an unbelievably bad shot, all things considered.
I would have let him take that shot 10 out of 10 times. He just hit it.
That was a tough shot the kid hit to beat an even tougher UM team who had shown resilience all year. The future isbright,we are B1G champs and once again well respected by the bb world! I can live with that, Go Blue!!!
I blame shitty slippery Adidas shoes.
RCMB thinks so.....but somehow they are dumb enough to think the refs cheat for US Lol
