This will be your thread for quick hits, hot takes and such regarding the defense and defensive playcalling for our game against Michigan State.

Very solid performance for the defense. Our four DE lineup is fun to watch. Hudson was a monster today, probably player of the game on D. Danna played very well. It’s also really fun to see our safeties as a strength of the team.

It seemed as if State was getting guys open on those middle breaking routes, whether by rubs or however.  But we adjusted effectively, at least I didn’t notice a bunch of those after halftime.

I think we're spoiled. The box score would indicate a very, very good defensive performance.

Lewerke was their entire offense. They don't score a single point without him.

Over on the RCMB you can see a sight that is incredibly rare across all of college football fandom: bitching about the starting quarterback (not rare at all) without a single peep about wanting to put in the backup (the rare part.)

They're not happy with Lewerke, which is not totally unreasonable (but the language they use is.)  But they know Lombardi is horrible and they no longer clamor for Theo Day, either.  They're screwed at quarterback next year and they know it.

Typical Don Brown game vs an overmatched opponent. They exploit something early and we all panic, then the door is closed and they get nothing. MSUs offense is baaaadddddd

Beautiful game.  44-10 after down 7-0.  Lewerke made some great throws, but he was under pressure.  Unfortunate Hutchinson had to leave but sharp performance.  Tip of the hat to Lavert for his extremely quick hands and reaction to a deflected ball to make his pic too.

Focus.  Still disappointed in Lavert on the pick.

But I LOVED Khaleke deleting the WR across the middle.  I don't think they tried another one after that.  Moar of that the next two weeks.

In the 1Q MSU was executing a plan to deal with UM's bracket coverage.  It worked for a drive, and then Don Brown and the D had it downloaded.  That is why this is 4 quarter game.

Really strong game. Excellent run defense.

Lewerke is a turnover machine who can make some plays with his arm and legs, but inevitably screws things up. We took advantage.

What more can you say? We beat the crap out of them on both sides of the ball. Beautiful.

Excellent overall performance. Some adjustments after the first quarter, and first half - Don Brown is almost always very good at this.

Man I hope Smith and Hinton come through for next year.

Another oustanding performance. Defense has improved massively over the course of the year. Brown was hired to be the Buckeye spread killer. Let's see if he can get it done this year. Remember he shut down a pretty good OSU offense in 2016.

Thats my one hope for this year. Brown managed the JT Barrett OSU teams decently well. The Haskins man-beating pass attacked shredded it but Justin Fields isn't Haskins. Now, we also don't have Mo Hurst or Ryan Glasgow but hopefully we can manage

Holding MSU to a FG on that early 3q drive was the difference in the game. That was their best shot, we were having personal issues with injuries and we held fast. Game was over after that.

Please:

Rip out and shred ALL trick play pages from the play book.

Particularly those where two quarterbacks are on the field at the same time. AND those you want to use when you have some momentum, which you have gained simply by running the plays you have practiced and worked on all season.

Thank You
