Michigan QBs

Do you think that any of the current QBs (Tate, Denard, Devin) at Michigan have any chance of being Pat White like.

In that case, yes. Tate, Denard, and Devin all have enormous potential. While I think that Denard's potential will be realized either at another position or as a hybrid all around athlete, I think that both Devin and Tate by their junior/senior years could be among the best quarterbacks in the country (depending on who wins the job this year, next year, etc.)

I'd have to go with DG. He has all the physical tools to be an all time great but it all depends on his development. In the quick clips that have been provided thus far his motion looks to be a lot better than I had previously hoped.

Well Lil Man that is a big question, I will have a better answer in 4 years or so, but yes I think it can be very easily done. RR just needs to find the right one. You should get together with Brice over at his blog and turn Michigan football coverage on its head. I will be pondering this one all day:)

the OP refers to the exciting dual-threat QB who can put his team on his back and carry it almost to the BCS Championship. You know, the guy ESPN analysts fawn over all season long, then rip when he's banged-up at the end of the season.

I think you meant to ask which qb is going to move to a different position? Can we have Tate, Denard and Devin all on the field at the same time? Is Tate going to transfer? Do mobile qb's get hurt more? Did you see that McGuffie hurdled a bitch? Why does Rich Rod have to curse so much, it hurts my virgin ears. And the off season drags on...

Tate will be "the next Drew Brees" Denard will be "the next Percy Harvin" Gardner will be "the next Vince Young" but a lot smarter. Therefore, we don't need "the next Pat White."

all have a chance to be "Pat White" like. It all depends on who just steps up the most come fall- and more importantly- who excels on the field come September.

None of them will put up his career numbers, and may finish their careers considered less of a playmaker and more of a distributor (probably with the exception of shoelace), but I'm not sure that ALL of them don't have more individual talent at the quarterback position. I'd honestly say that Tate Forcier is a superior passer when compared to White, and probably just as smart or more so. Forcier's athleticism is better than he gets credit for, and even if Pat White is considered better when it's all said and done at the college level, Tate Forcier produces/runs a better offense better at the same level independent of having a running back like Slaton (see first 3 1/2 quarters vs. OSU). Gardner may have the most NFL potential because he is so big and strong, and Denard isn't completely out of this race just yet. If he can develop as a quarterback to the degree White did, and was playing in the Big East...people might call Pat White the poor man's Denard Robinson. All in all, I definitely expect our QBS to be better and the offense to be more dynamic. If all three of our QBS are still on the roster in 12 months, we will be extremely lucky!

Over on Scout, King Beaver says there is a bit of a difference of opinion on exactly what type of offense will be run. First, he says Rodriguez wants more passing. That definitively says, "Not Pat White." Second, he says Calvin Magee wants a run-first offense. That definitively says, "Yes Pat White." I don't think Tate Forcier is going to be any semblance of Pat White, so if he wins the job and wins it convincingly--not Pat White. Now, interestingly, behind the Evil Paywall of a certain site that rhymes with "Bout," King Beaver is hinting that right now, Denard is mui impressivo and the competition is pretty dang-darn even. Hmmmmmm Word is that Denard lookin' good with passing! And the word (from King Beaver) continues to be that Gardner looks much better mechanically (Throwing motion. Not sure how he does fixing '99 Fords) and definitely will be "special." I'm not so sure Denard Robinson ends up at another position (and definitely not this year--I think they'll try to keep the redshirt on Gardner--I would, and I'm not even the coach!) What that means is--if Robinson shows he can do it and do it well--he's a QB for four years and UM is gonna have to go with the dreaded Two Quarterback System--and in this case--it's so crazy it just might work!

Because I had read that thusfar Tate was quite obviously head and shoulders up on the others in the passing game, and baring major disaster, Tate was looking like the No 1. Since there have only been three practices, I find it unlikely anyone could've made that much of a move.

King Beaver had it in a very recent bloggie. I'll tell ya one more thing in Robinson's favor: King beaver said Robinson has a very even temperment--which helps when snaps go sailing 60 feet over his head. Oh, we'd better hope Molk stays healthy this year.

Tate Forcier = Steve Young accurate throwers with deceptive speed Denard Robinson = Michael Vick (in college) uberfast with rocket arms Devin Gardner = Vince Young excellent athletes that can also dominate in the passing game

Is the "best case" really having Steve Young, Mike Vick, and Vince Young as our signal callers? I think you need to temper your expectations a little bit. I mean, Steve Young is a first ballot HOF, Mike Vick took his squad to a national title game, and VY won a national title. I'd say DG is the next VY is the most fair comparison, seeing as how he's all potential right now.

I doubt anyone is "head and shoulders above the rest" after three spring practices. Perhaps we should wait a bit before naming surefire starters. I trust game situations more than pad-free practice results, but that's just me.
