Michigan in *New* Top 4 For Traore
In the immediate aftermath of his decommitment, 5* Yohan Traore has named 4 possible destinations and the good guys have made the list. Some tough competition, especially on the bag-front, to land him. Hopefully Juwan can pull the strings to make it happen.

I believe Auburn is the likely landing spot with them being his 2nd place program last time
Think he’s cooled on them since he found out that auburn isn’t one of their school colors.
It legitimately bothers me that Auburn isn't in their color scheme. lol
Now THIS is why I come to MGoBlog, trenchant analysis and color consultations.
I come here so I can see posters use words like "trenchant"
Good to see that someone has picked up the "color consultations" since WD's departure.
Color commentary was right there, too

How about the University of Kansas is KU? Drives me nuts.

AND the University of Nebraska is NU. The University of Oklahoma is OU.
Are the stacked middle states dyslexic?
Should the University of South Dakota be DSU?
Have to make the pitch that you can start right away, Juwan is great developer of big men, and has as good of a tournament track record as any coach in their first 2 tournaments
MOAR TRAORE!
He's deciding next week. Seems like too quick for us to clarify our bag offer or frontcourt situation

Shouldn't take long. Go to McDonald's, get a bag, go to ATM, yank cash, stuff in bag, present to young man. Put that in a list with check boxes next to each task.
Not getting my hopes up. Would love to get him and would make a pretty nice front court next year especially if Diabate comes back, but I don't expect to get him considering he seems to very much be following the bag
No way it’s happening ! Especially is some think Dickinson will be back and Reed coming in
Traore plays the 4, I believe.
Traore WANTS to play the four at least.
And with Reed slated for the 5, we can offer him that.
And that was our sales pitch if insiders are to be believed.
Hard to see him going from bag-friendly L$U to no bag Michigan. Auburn would make more sense.
Given that the bag is legal now, why would we not be able to "offer" some NIL opportunities?
Yeah, Howard should be able to make a strong-ass offer here.
Technically, there are rules for "NIL bags" and I don't think LSU/SEC is following them, whereas Michigan will follow them to a T.
Lets remove the 'T' from the alphabet. It's often silent, anyway...
So rue.
I see wha_ you did _here

People in Columbus are wondering why you're talking about George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley.
HD is not coming back. Let's do this!
I feel like he only comes if Dickinson or Diabate, or both are leaving. And thinking Traore is a 1 and done maybe we're better off with the option of keeping our current bigs.
Would be nice but we need guards with size and shooting ability.
Would you be okay with Chandler-he is only 6 foot???
Maybe this young man would be tall enough: Saw Nachs Wahwassuck a couple weeks ago in the Kansas 3A (pretty small school) state finals. He would have to learn to play up to/against higher talent but he was recruited to play with Tarris earlier this year-so he has been exposed to some high level play. I see him listed as 6'5"/6'6". He is a terrific PG...an outstanding shooter, passer, defender, penetrator-long, long arms and very quick hands...who could easily slide out to the 2&3 as well. But he is from a small school tucked away in the middle of Nowheresville, Kansas. He will likely have to start at a mid-major somewhere.
Traore is a take-every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Although my gut says Auburn as well, I think Michigan has a legit shot here. Everyone has bag money now, if they didn't there'd be no reason for him to de-commit in the first place... if that is a priority to him.
Honestly, after reading his comments, it seems to me we are 4th. How does anyone read the article and come out thinking we have a shot?
"Honestly, after reading his comments, it seems to me we are 4th."
What part of his comments would lead you to think we are 4th:
"Texas Tech, Auburn, Gonzaga or Michigan will add one of the country’s best, most versatile bigs to their 2022 haul.
“I’ve already taken all of my visits, so I won’t be doing any of that,” Traore said. “I’m going to talk things over with my people and make a decision. It’ll be next week. I don’t want to wait any longer.”
In order for him to implement optimum focus during his quick turnaround, Traore asked the coaches for space to think things through.
“I already know the staffs and the coaches,” Traore said. “There’s not too much I could learn about them that I don’t already know. It’s just about weighing some things out and making a decision. I didn’t plan to be in this position. The good thing is that I still have great schools. I have to just take a little time and make the best decision for me.”
I don't expect him to choose Michigan, but that's because he chose LSU and its former crooked coach the first time around. There's literally nothing in his very bland comments to indicate which way he's going, and which teams have no chance.
If he doesn't choose Auburn, Bruce Pearl will wonder just how crooked he has to be to get Traore's attention.
Bruce. Hes right up there with Cal.
i dont get the "bag man" comments anymore. sounds like sour grapes. seems like we can find ways to get players millions in a legit way and its not happening (or it is and i dont know). but commenting that its because we can't feed him cash seems weak at this point.
I agree. I think our money is a little to old to keep up with the NIL powers.
"I dont want to do anything wrong that the NCAA wouldnt approve of"
Ive got a general feeling of ass dragging since day one.
Some schools are certainly more loose with how that money gets delivered. Michigan has made strides in hooking players with deal opportunities, but it's very apparent that other schools have donors that are straight-up tossing athletes cash (see Texas A&M football, Auburn and Memphis basketball). Just because the bag is now "legal" doesn't mean there aren't different categories of bag being thrown around.
Sign me up for the guy that is throwing around the "legal" bag that hurts the rivals feelings the most. If you can do it, then do it! These kids are bringing in a ton of money. Pay them the damn money. Its free agency quit trying to go under the cap. We are the Yankees not the Marlins.
Why do people think that just because NIL exists now that schools aren't still paying guys under the table? NIL still has regulations that some teams follow and some teams don't. All indication so far is that Michigan is following NIL regulations to a tee
Why do people think that because NIL exists now, we have to still play second fiddle to those that pay and don't follow the rules? Its clear that you can funnel millions above the table.
Our future star QB, 5 star, big guy, gets a deal with a local car dealer? A&M has 11 guys making millions. The OSU qb got millions before he even got there. then left.
I mean I agree. Just saying that just because NIL exists doesn't mean that all of the sudden everyone is on an even playing field and following the rules
the fact that he has Gonzaga and Michigan as two of the 4 gives me hope that this isn't necessarily a 'highest bidder wins' situation
^This.
Did he even visit Michigan? I don’t remember him ever coming for a visit.
Visited back in September
Ah ok. I am still pessimistic on this one though.
Michigan NIL are you there and open for business?
Why are people still referring to the bag like it's some mystical thing Michigan can't do? It's legal now**.
**Never mind the fact that there is strong likelihood Michigan was bagging before that.
