Michigan @ Minnesota Roll Call

Submitted by UNCWolverine on October 6th, 2023 at 11:51 AM

MGobloggers, who's heading to Minnesota? What your plan for tomorrow? Any tailgating around the stadium?

I arrived in Minneapolis yesterday and have already seen a lot of maize and blue at the hotel and at the sports bar last night. This will be my 10th on campus Michigan road game to add to my list:

Indiana, Wisconsin, UCLA, Purdue, NW, Washington, ND, Iowa, Utah

On a side note I took the opportunity to check off my 48th & 49th states this week in South Dakota and North Dakota the last couple days, with only Alaska left to visit.

Excited for the game, should be around 50 degrees at kickoff which isn't as bad as I had originally thought. Go Blue.

First road game for me since JT was short - hoping i wasn't part of the problem but if something terrible happens tomorrow you all can blame me.

A friend's brother is a senior at Minnesota so going to try to keep up with the kids for tailgating.

I'm there! My son's first Michigan football game, we're very excited. Section 205 row 11; I'm the tall one, now with beard. I generally wear a ball cap, but I'm not sure which one yet. (Saturday edit: went with a winter-style Michigan hat instead, guarding against the evening chill). And a Michigan football jersey, obviously.

We'll probably get down there at 3:30 or 4 and eat at Dinkytown before going to the stadium, as I've done in previous visits. Tailgating near the stadium isn't impressive; as discussed in a thread earlier this week, they do allow tailgating at the fairgrounds, but since I need to leave promptly and drive to Duluth after the game, I have never parked there.

We're driving up to the Twin Cities from South Dakota this afternoon. Living in SD now we don't get to many games, so it's worked out well to get to Nebraska and Minnesota this year. This will be my first game at Minnesota since they played in the Metrodome!

I’m here. It’s cold and rainy. Had a bit too much fun at Surly last night and have taken it easy this morning.

Been to Nebraska, Penn St., Iowa, and now Minnesota.

Heading to the airport now.  Looking forward to my 8th away B1G stadium and a big Meeechigan victory!  Hoping to head around campus and find a good college bar for the earlier games, and maybe a Jucy Lucy.

The best Jucy Lucy is at the Nook, which is sadly no where near the stadium. (getting that out there before all the Minneapolis people claim Matt's and the suburbanites claim 5 to 9 Tavern)

The Blue Door Pub is not too far from the stadium and they have very good burgers and tots, although it will most likely be packed.

Me plus 3! Flying out of Chicago tonight. Going into the season I has seen Michigan win in 12 of the 14 B1G stadiums.  Went to Nebraska last week for #13 and God willing I'll knock out #14 tomorrow.

Note that a lot of local attention will be on the Twins, who are playing at 3:45p local time in the slot immediately before the 6:30p local kick. That may affect availability of places with tvs; it also may mean that tickets may be incrementally easier to come by. Edit: *Will* be. I wish I had waited until today to buy, knowing now that Minnie is struggling and the Twins are vacuuming up the local attention.

Still time for a late decider to pull the trigger and get up here.

On the couch in front of the TV tomorrow night.  I haven't been to Minnesota since 1985 but I've made Big Ten circuit (completed it in 1992 with a trip to C-bus and completed it last year with a trip to Rutger and soon will need to start again).

Wishing a good time to all who will be there in maize in blue.  Bring back victory!!

I'm two campus Michigan road games venues ahead of you (a total of 30 road games at 10 B1G stadiums plus ND) but trail you by 17 states (32 visited so far).

I'll be there with SRO tickets, so probably standing somewhere along the top of the stadium or sitting with the students.

If I was from out of town I wouldn't attempt to tailgate, I don't think it's allowed anywhere near the stadium and it's not really a thing here.

My recommendation would be to find a bar near Target Field to watch the Twins-Astros game (first pitch 3:45 central time), then hop on the light rail, which will drop you off right next to to Huntington Bank stadium. I would not attempt to drive if you can avoid it, the game is sold out (not a given for the Gophers) so traffic will be bad before and after the game, and ramp parking is very expensive.  Ubers work fine, but be prepared to walk a few blocks for both dropoff and pickup.

I'll be there with one of my sons. First Michigan game for him. We'll be in our Michigan gear in section 142.

Going to see if I can convince him to try a philly cheesesteak from Frank & Angie's. Last time it nearly did him in and he breaks out in sweats every time I mention it.

The wife and I will be there! Coming up from the Omaha area. About a 5 hour drive. Going to make the full round trip in a day. Dress warm.

Driving my daughter to Chicago to catch her flight home to Texas.(She's on crutches so we didn't want her having to deal with a connecting flight.)

Probably going to miss the game so I will watch it later on BTN.

Go Blue and safe travels to all who are attending in person.

I am here at the Hilton Garden Inn on Campus looking out at the stadium. Met my buddy from California whose daughter attends minnesota. Tailgating tomorrow with my buddy from Kalamazoo who also went to school with me at Michigan. Going to be a reunion of sorts. Looking forward to a great Michigan victory tomorrow!  This is my second trip to watch Michigan play here in Minneapolis the first was back in the Rich Rod days. Thank you Steven Threet! If you're like me and do not have a tailgate to go to and want to watch football all day there is the Michigan alumni bar downtown. Tom’s Watch Bar, 609 Hennepin Ave.
