Michigan line now up to 20, Tennessee by 10 over Florida, somehow Mich St by 1 over Minnesota
September 18th, 2022 at 3:32 PM ^
My excitement for the season continues to grow. Trying to temper things, as Texas has shown us, without Cade we are one bad hit away from some serious difficulty. Just stay healthy JJ!!! Wow, just a fantastic first three games.
September 18th, 2022 at 4:05 PM ^
I mean over 90% of cfb programs would have issues without their starting qb.
September 18th, 2022 at 4:33 PM ^
Based on what we've seen from Warren and Bowman, I'd argue that we still have solid QB depth even with Cade out. In Bowman's case, he's started for a Power 5 team before. If anything were to happen to JJ, that would obviously suck but I don't think it would be another 2012 Nebraska game situation.
September 18th, 2022 at 5:21 PM ^
Bowman isn’t the same after his injuries. He’s got a wet noodle in an offense where you need an arm (or legs.) Gotta develop Warren if you want a chance in a rivalry game. Would be nice if the Orji package can become a real offense if we need it to be.
September 18th, 2022 at 6:44 PM ^
Whatever you do, don't utter "Russell Bellomy" 3 times while looking into a mirror.
September 18th, 2022 at 7:25 PM ^
I was at that game. Miserable.
On the other hand, I went to multiple bars after the game in my Michigan jersey, and had free drinks all night. Nebraska nice.
September 19th, 2022 at 10:22 AM ^
Nebraska fans may need you to return the favor.
September 18th, 2022 at 5:10 PM ^
People are so worried about Cade v JJ that they apparently didn’t notice that Cade was the 3rd or 4th best QB over the first few games.
September 18th, 2022 at 5:24 PM ^
Yeah you could really tell a lot from Cade’s performance getting nailed twice in two dropbacks against UConn.
I really don’t get why “JJ is better” always needs to come with a side of “Cade sucks now hurr hurr”
September 18th, 2022 at 5:27 PM ^
I think most of us agree with you. The issue is what has become a vocal cade faction. We have possibly the best qb room in a very long time. Not many schools can tout 3 p5 starters and another qb in the mix in the qb 2 or 3.
September 19th, 2022 at 9:12 AM ^
I believe Warren should be no. 2 even with Cade healthy. Why? Because this year's offense is designed for JJ's game. Warren has the skill set to get plugged in and run that offense, even if not at JJ's level. Cade simply cannot be effective running that offense and we shouldn't have to change the entire game plan when a new QB comes in.
September 18th, 2022 at 3:34 PM ^
Id take MSU at +1. Theyre still a decent run defense. Its just the pass defense that is atrocious and I don’t think Minnesota is built to take advantage of that. MSU should win I think
i am very much looking forward to MSU-OSU this year because thats going to be absolutely hilarious once again
September 18th, 2022 at 3:50 PM ^
I just don't think MSU is very good this year. I mean WMU gave them a game. Also, Minnesota looks very good.
September 18th, 2022 at 4:13 PM ^
MSU doesn't have to be good to win. Their coach is squeezing the most out of them.
September 18th, 2022 at 4:16 PM ^
LOL. If Tucker has "squeezed the most out of" the secondary - which he personally coaches - I'd hate to see how ghastly it must be otherwise.
September 18th, 2022 at 5:19 PM ^
They were down what 22? A 11th ranked team should never have fallen behind that much against an unranked team. Going for 4th down so many times and converting a bunch, playing reckless in 4th so you can have a decent score, Washington trying to run the clock down made it look like it was a game. It was not. It was a beatdown
September 18th, 2022 at 10:52 PM ^
A 11th ranked team should never have fallen behind that much against an unranked team.
That's pretty much meaningless at this point in the season; neither team had played a decent opponent before this game. Unranked teams do sometimes surprise you; Michigan was unranked last year to start the season, as I recall.
Washington was clearly the better team yesterday, though. I frankly wouldn't be all that surprised if Washington ended up ranked at the end of the season--if nothing else Penix is clearly an upgrade over Dylan Morris, and tentatively speaking they seem to be getting better coaching.
Michigan State? Who knows. They could end up back in the top 25, or they could fall back to earth as eve
September 18th, 2022 at 4:27 PM ^
MSU is still a solid football team. I wouldn't bet on them winning the B1G, but I also wouldn't write them off for a few reasons:
1. Washington is a much better team than they were last year, and B1G teams playing road games on the west coast almost never goes well.
2. They dominated half of that Western game. Sure, the Broncos clawed their way back into for a minute, but so did Rutgers against Michigan last season.
3. Western beat Pitt on the road last season, and we all know how the year played out afterward for the Panthers.
4. The Spartans certainly have some holes on their roster this year, but Tucker has generally been pretty good at limiting and counterbalancing their weaknesses so far in his tenure. It catches up with you, but Tuck has shown he can get the Spartans to win a few they maybe shouldn't.
September 18th, 2022 at 5:30 PM ^
I don't know how good Washington is. Kent State scored 20 on them. Minnesota may be better than Washington. If you've played three games and haven't looked good in two of them and the third was against Akron, I'd say you have the right to be skeptical.
September 18th, 2022 at 6:31 PM ^
Never said Washington was good. I said they are much better than last year, and added that B1G teams playing road games on the west coast never goes well.
You absolutely have a right to be skeptical, but I still think it might be foolish to count MSU as not good. They've beaten Michigan with far worse teams than they have this season.
September 18th, 2022 at 4:43 PM ^
MSU was missing Jacob Slade but the run defense did not look good for most of last night's game. Minnesota has a much better run game than Washington.
September 18th, 2022 at 6:16 PM ^
One factor you are not accounting for is that coach tuck relies on taking opponents into the deep water…but coach flecks players row the boat…seems like it is strength on strength.
September 18th, 2022 at 6:19 PM ^
I guess I’ll go the other way. I believe Minnesota will win and make this almost a lock.
They are well coached, they are more than just a running team and their defense is very good. UDub just completely shut down Sparty’s rush game. It will be a slugfest but Minny is built for it and have more. We shall see I guess.
September 18th, 2022 at 8:22 PM ^
MN #1 WR tore his ACL against Colorado unfortunately
September 19th, 2022 at 8:17 AM ^
Eh, seems fair to me. The fancy stats have Minn and MSU around the same level of team, although they are still heavily weighted by pre-season projections at this time. And game is at MSU right? So this is Minn at a neutral site. Not sure I trust PJ Fleck on the road against a B1G East team, but also just not sure how to read Tucker. Walker III covered up so much and then previously was COVID year. I think Minn is leading the B1G is yards per attempt though? They're a heavy run team who then bombs deep passes is how I read that.
September 19th, 2022 at 9:09 AM ^
I think MSU is -1 which means that Vegas thinks they're worse than Minnesota all else equal by about 2-3 points but they're at home which is worth 3-4 points.
Regardless, I agree with you that if Slade is back, it's a decent matchup for MSU given their strengths.
September 19th, 2022 at 9:39 AM ^
You can get MSU +2 at several sites. I'm not seeing them favored anywhere I look now.
September 19th, 2022 at 9:14 AM ^
With 11 years of college ball under his belt, Tanner Morgan has enough experience to exploit Sparty's secondary.
September 18th, 2022 at 3:38 PM ^
We need Dick Vitale as a co-announcer for the Kansas-Duke game next week.
September 18th, 2022 at 3:45 PM ^
Remember, this will be a test for Michigan unless they win big; then we still won't know what the team can do and we'll have to wait another week to find out.
September 18th, 2022 at 3:57 PM ^
Yes - this is how these things work. Narratives against Michigan are undefeated. Yet, we are the all-time winningest program.
September 19th, 2022 at 1:35 AM ^
May we never find out how good this team is
September 18th, 2022 at 3:52 PM ^
Lots if Michigan fans dumping money on them cause they think they'll win the NC after three games.
September 18th, 2022 at 6:12 PM ^
You have become the worst person on this board, I’m pretty sure you have to be a troll.

I assume you have made millions off this 'Michigan has inflated betting lines' theory...
Michigan is 13-4 vs the spread since the start of 2021. So only now, after beating UConn, are 'Michigan fans' skewing the betting line?

Iowa is favored over the home team Rutger. Something tells me that Iowa will not have a fun flight home.
September 18th, 2022 at 4:03 PM ^
So in less than one day, the line over Maryland has gone up 5 to 20?
Elsewhere, the MSU/Minnesota game seems reasonable. We don't know THAT much about Minnesota other than their running game and Sparty is at home.
OSU over Wisconsin is expected. Nobody is going to take Wisconsin seriously after that loss to Washington State.
Tennessee has lost 16 of their last 17 meetings with Florida. And now they're favored by double digits against them. I always pick the Gators in this game. They're always able to pick something magical out of their pocket if they need it in this matchup. The Vols will NOT win by 10.
September 19th, 2022 at 8:21 AM ^
I think the Fancy States Michigan as about a 20 point favorite or something, so I'm not surprised seeing the line move to UM from the opening which I thought was like 13 pts.
September 19th, 2022 at 9:12 AM ^
This is the best Tennessee team in a long time. And just an ok Florida team.
In Knoxville, they have a good chance to cover.
September 18th, 2022 at 4:04 PM ^
They're trying to cadge bets.
September 18th, 2022 at 4:12 PM ^
Although State lost, they played to win. I'd take them in a close game with Minnie.
September 18th, 2022 at 4:25 PM ^
They played to win? What does that mean?
September 18th, 2022 at 4:45 PM ^
What was the headline a few years ago? Defeat with Dignity?
September 19th, 2022 at 9:17 AM ^
It means Herm Edwards was coaching them. With his usual degree of success.

"You play to..." /looks to the crew "Line?"
It's 'win the game' coach
"I'm too old for this shit"
September 18th, 2022 at 5:31 PM ^
Although they were playing to win, they were defeated with dignity and I'll take that over a victory any say.
- Sparty
September 18th, 2022 at 5:51 PM ^
They waited until 4th quarter to play to win I guess.
