LFG!!!

EDIT - Original title incredibly misleading and potentially incendiary. Please read the policy and discuss as you see fit for now. - LSA

Read a little deeper, no face coverings outside but you better carry one with you if you plan on using a restroom or go into any of the indoor shops or concession areas.

Correct.  Additionally it states the policy is subject to change, so if there was a large wave of cases, they could revise the policy to include masks outdoors.  As of today this feels like a reasonable position because who knows what the future holds for different points during the next year.  I highly doubt they would limit attendance this year as they likely need the income.

Yet... I hope it stays that way! But it's has been a fluid situation since covid hit. Here's to hoping we can attend every game this season without pause!

the title is slightly inaccurate

  • The indoor face covering requirement applies to all indoor spaces, including restrooms, locker rooms, press boxes, operational booths, etc., regardless of vaccination status.
  • Fans will be encouraged to wear face coverings outdoors.
  • For the safety of our guests and our staff, working staff will be required to wear a face covering in all indoor areas of Michigan Stadium. In addition, all concessions workers (indoors and outdoors) will be required to wear a face covering.

Will be interesting to see how this goes. Not that anyone asked, but here is my POV as someone who went to a big event recently. I was dragged to the Garth concert in KC at Arrowhead. Like 80k people, freaking packed. Not a huge fan, but had field seats just a few rows from the stage so I was a bit excited. I was more excited as this was the first "big" event I'd been to since covid. We have done a few things here and there, but nothing like this. Honestly, it wasn't great. Thankfully, we had great seats on an end and could spread out quite a bit being on the field, but I still was pretty uncomfortable the whole time. I couldn't imagine being up in the seats smashed next to and being within 3 feet of 20 people. We would have def left way early had we not been on the field. We are vaxed by the way, but it was still pretty uncomfortable being around that many people. Maybe it was just because it was the first time in a while, but who knows. Both of us regretted going and thankfully have been good so far. I'm hoping to head to Lincoln this year for the UM game, but that thought is still making me really think about whether or not I want to be around 80k screaming people and not have the option to spread out like I did at the concert.

If they want me to wear a mask, I'll wear a mask, if it makes other people feel comfortable.  I hate the damn things but they aren't a problem.  The real question is what is a mask going to do if SOMEONE CHOOSES to go hang out with 100k people?  If a person is vaccinated, then they should be just fine.  So get vaccinated and stop worrying about other people who choose to think differently than you.  PSA:  I SUPPORT EVERYONE GETTING VACCINATED

If it weren’t for the small and inconvenient fact that if enough of those that think differently get covid, they overwhelm an important and limited commodity, medical services, in the form of both ER space and ICU space, I would agree with you wholeheartedly.

Unfortunately, as we are seeing in too many places, unvaccinated folks have chosen to exercise their right to significantly increase their chances of needing emergency care impacting the health of everyone in their communities.
