It’s been obvious this season that the WR position group isn’t “stacked.” The difference between Purdue’s Jones and Michigan’s WRs was dramatic. He was much quicker and consistently made tougher catches than any of Michigan’s guys. Lovett is supposed to be the real deal. Michigan would be fortunate to pick up a guy like that.

Eh, the OSU game when they decided not to play any coverage notwithstanding, I havent been overly impressed with the separation our receivers have been able to achieve consistently. This is especially true against the lesser B1G teams. The WR room IS crowded but a guy who can regularly get separation is lacking.

The point he’s making is that we might have overvalued the room as “stacked” and pointed out that Jones had a helluva game against our pretty elite defense and none of our receivers in that stacked room had a “breakout” year.

I'd agree that we definitely need a huge upgrade in our crowded receiver room, to become an elite offense. But when you try and tell me that the receiver from Purdont is better or quicker than say Roman Wilson, when he's healthy. Eh, I simply disagree and I'd also say, in a qualitative sense that ain't no way in (&& Charlie or Chuckybaby is better than Roman Wilson at getting open. We all have an opinion.

I don’t know fast Jones is, but he was much quicker than anyone who saw the field for Michigan this year. He was clearly a better rout runner. He made contested catches. He was similar to what you see from the better SEC teams. Maybe one of Michigan’s freshmen can develop into someone like that, but I wouldn’t count on it. A dynamic WR is the only thing the offense is currently lacking.

Doesn't make any sense. This would be quite a fail from the prognosticators that put in crystal balls for him to go to Mich and yet Michigan doesn't even make the top 5. Perhaps he was really turned off by Mich out of nowhere? I know we've had a lot of transfers recently, but none of them were CBs. We did have a 3 star CB commit recently.. that competition couldn't have scared him away, could it? Or maybe some school (Mizzou?) offered him a bunch of NIL $$?

I agree. Just look at how poorly Michigan has played these past two seasons.
The schemes that Macdonald and Minter have been running. All I can think is… OMG, they need to make adjustments & changes EVERY game at halftime. Can’t they have a single plan that actually works the entire game?
And, what else are these guys on the D doing? They are “borrowing” ideas from teams that play on Sundays, and using them on Saturdays. LMAO, what college teams play on Sundays?
Can someone please help Michigan’s staff with a few clues?

Completely agree. We fans should stop looking forward so much and take our fandom one day at a time. This whole thread just shows a lack of focus on the members of this blog. Disappointing.
