MGoPoll: White or Maize pants on the road
Alternating would be nice.
on the road vs blue/purple/black jersey teams: maize jerseys blue pants
on the road vs yellow jersey teams: white jerseys yellow pants
Use white for regular away games, use Maize for either games where we need contrast (I.e Penn State so it's not blue over white vs white over white) or in East Lansing/Columbus. Like last year, despite losing to Iowa, I liked that we wore white over white vs the Hawkeyes Black over Yellow.
I always post the same idea in these threads: Maize pants look great with blue jerseys. There aren't many color schemes in college football that work as well.
With white jerseys? No. There's not enough contrast between the white and the maize. Drop dark helmets on top and it works even less. I'd sooner use maize jerseys with the maize pants (and I really don't want to go there).
Agreed that the maize pants aren't aesthetically pleasing with white jerseys. Would rather go with blue pants than maize.
Why not both?
I think the players would be uncomfortable wearing two pairs of pants at the same time.
I've really liked the away uniforms the past two years. White pants all the way.
To something that the OP said, even if there had been in fact enough discussion about pants, there will never in fact be enough discussion on pants for the blog's purposes, so do carry on.
I will say, the white-on-white has sort of grown on me. I wouldn't ming running with that.
The white on white looks sharp. But I'm just so used to white on yellow pants and I miss them on the road. It's not a travesty, like those alternate jerseys that Dave Brandon paraded out. It's pretty much the difference between being a 9 and a 10. You're hot regardless. Might as well be a 10.
Let Brady model them.
I was admittedly not happy when the white road pants were announced. But I really like them. I still slightly prefer maize, but the white looks sharp. I'll say 55/45 in favor of maize.
Blue jerseys and maize pants all the tiiime
on white
Maize. I'll grant that the white pants are part of an extremely well-executed look, but football uniforms almost always look better if the pants are a different color than the jerseys. Maize is just more Michigan.
no pants!
Good luck getting more "alternate" than that.
ed: sort of worked if you scroll
IDGAF as long as they win.
Nobody notices the contrast of white on white.
At first I was not a fan of the white pants, buit they've grown on me... Having not seen what Air Jordan's rendition of the maize pants would look like I'd say I prefer white atm, but I'd be interested in seeing maize pants
White - I was skeptical at first but I think it is sharper and makes the team look faster.
Would be curious to see what blue pants look like.
Been watching the football team since about 1973. The white pants for road games looks really really really good. White.
I like the look with white pants a lot, and while the look with maize pants is also good I feel like it emphasizes what the uniform is missing without the blue jersey a bit too much. The white pants make it an intentional uniform.
But I like them both and I would enjoy seeing the non-designated pant making an appearance every season. If they go back to maize on the road, bring out the whites for a game; if they stay with white, bring out the maize pants for a game (the PSU game would be a good move, and hey look PSU is highly rated again and we're not given much of a chance there and let's see what happens).
So my pick is to have one as the "road uniform" but have one road game where they switch.
Commented before checking to see if someone had already hit on my point. Exactly this. Stick with the white pants except for PSU road games. Our alternate should just be maize pants.
Stay with white pants on the road, and wear maize for a game or two.
I was disappointed with the white in the 70's and was glad to get back to Michigan Maize. I realize that the white pants made an impression on young JH, and now he's earned the right to put our team in them. So it's white until he says maize. I can live with it.
