Hometown: Ann Arbor area (Lincoln HS) Sports played: Softball, Volleyball, Softball & Swimming. Current City: San Diego fun fact 1: grew up on M campus because my mom worked there since I was 4. My first job was in The Michigan Union and I loved seeing the players come and go from their team dinners in the Union basement. Edit: how the hell could I not mention my dogs? 3... All Red..all rescues. I work with Ridgback Rescue groups, and one of mine is a pure bread who was dumped after making puppies for greedy, mean bastards. I don't like puppy mills.. Needed to add this.

I just don't know about red headed dogs. We rescued a German Short Haired Pointer from a pheasant hunting preserve because she had no idea that she was supposed to hunt birds and is terrified of loud noises. Think shot guns. But what a sweetheart. Gotta love dogs of all colors and sizes.

I love all dogs. My doggies just happen to all look like Rhodesian Ridgebacks, but only one is. One is part Am Staf (Pit), and the other is Viszla (totally friggin busy, kookie dog). And I love that you have that dog! Mine all have little issues like that. My pitty dude was "red listed" in LA (meaning about to be pts) and he is the absolute sweetest boy. His former owners named him "Ronan" and brought him to the pound because he wasn't mean enough. Just love the rescues--it seems like they know you helped them, and they have special needs in certain ways that make them sweet.

Name:  Dr Jaws

City:  Battle Creek, MI

Born: Ann Arbor

Age: 36

HS:  The dump known as Ypsilanti High for three years (early 90's when they were the Braves) finished HS via adult education classes since I had missed a year of school living and playing hockey in Canada.

Undergrad: IU South Bend (South Bend IN is a bigger dump than Ypsi)

Grad School:  UC Berkeley

Occupation:  Principal Scientist

Dog: Female Pitbull

Cat:  Dunno, my wife has some . . . I hate cats

Athletics:  Played 1 year of HS football and baseball.  Played travel hockey (AAA) so ended up quitting the FB and BB.  Played in the OJHL (when it existed under that name) and the SJHL, scouted by Lake Sup St and MSU but decided to not play hockey anymore . . .

Greatest Accomplishemnt:  Having 3-ways with my wife and her friend . . . epic

Greates Failure:  See the last line of Athletics . . . by all accounts I was a heck of a goalie.

WTF Moment:  Very recently, I had a job fall in my lap . . . wasn't even applying.  50% pay raise (and I make good $) great bennies, huge relocation package/signing bonus ($25,000) and I would have headed my own department with substantial room for raises/promotions.  I turned it down as unfortunately, the job wans't in Michigan or within acceptable commuting distance.  I hate moving and my kids are still in HS.  If only that offer comes 4 years from now . . . .

Though I officiated at several weddings in Aspen during that time. He was not at any of those weddings, but the acid somehow found its way into our systems. Did you ever try to look judicious when the veins in your arms were more interesting than the bride and groom? I have no idea how I survived that when my wife was just as hammered as me. And then looking up at the father of the bride who could not stop crying? Yikes.

I grew up in NC, where you have to pledge your aliegence to either Duke, UNC, or NC State during your 4th grade year.  Became a big Duke fan because I like underdogs.... and then they hired Coach K.

My dad and godparents both went to Michigan and the night my acceptance letter came, an inpromptu sing-a-long broke out around the piano with them singingall of the old glee club songs.  I never really had a fighting chance to go somewhere else.

Came to UM right after the BB national championship (which I took as an omen that I had made the right college choice).  The first big home game was an overtime win against Duke.  My allegience was no longer in question.

During my college days went to the Gator Bowl, Rose Bowl, multiple GLI's at the Joe, and was in New Orleans for the Chris Webber Time-out.  This southern girl learned about hockey from her Stockwell hallmate and enjoyed many a bench clearing brawl between UM & MSU.

My college roommate and I still arrange our bi-annual visits around Michigan sports.  She comes to Michigan timed with a home football game.  She moved to Texas right before the Cowboy Classic, so it was a great excuse to see her family, new house, and then watch our team get beat up by Alabama.

Michigan sports were a great background to my college experience, and as an alumna still is the thread that connects me to my college friends.

OK, I'll bite.

Name: Bando Calrissian

Age: Closely approaching 30

Grew up outside Detroit. Ran track in high school--poorly. Bided my time in a shitty marching band that thankfully didn't compete, with a football team that sucked ass after my freshman year.

UM class of '08, MA from a CIC institution, currently almost ABD towards a PhD at another. Family of 4, 6 Michigan degrees all around. Son of two UM alums (BS and BA/MA) who met through dorm friends their freshman year, brother of another (BA/MA).

Grew up with football and basketball season tickets, got hockey season tickets when I was nine. Went to Brian Ellerbe Basketball Camp. Twice. Learned how to properly box out from Pete Vignier. Played tag and ate candy all afternoon at a Victors Club luncheon with John Madden (ntJM) and Blake Sloan in 1995. Toured the Fab Five locker room in 1992, and covertly took pictures holding Juwan Howard's enormous shoes.

4 years MMB, 3 years hockey band, 4 years volleyball band. Veteran of IM football, basketball, and soccer. East Quad resident, RC graduate, not (completely) a hippie.

First name :  Chris

Grew up in: Shelby TWP, MI

Lives in: Salisbury, NC

High school mascot:  Eagles (Utica Eisenhower).

College:  Graceland University, Lamoni IA.

Career:  Oracle/Sql Server DBA

HS Sports: Track/Gynmastics.  Track in college.

UM History:  Fan.  Dad was a fan too and working at the Kmart World Hqtrs in Troy, could get tickets to games pretty easily.

Cool story:  We didn't know it at the time but we were in the stands at the Big House for Bo's last home game.  Weeks later, when we were watching the bowl game, the announcer mentioned it was Bo's last game as coach.  I asked my dad if he could have gotten those tickets had it been known that it was Bo's last home game.  He never used any words considered bad so it stuck out when his reply was "no way in hell".

I now follow in my dad's footsteps and take the kids to a UM game each year.  We pick an early "easy" game to ensure maximum chance at seeing a win since we travel 12 plus hours for the trip.  It's nice when they come down here for games like when the basketball team went to the NCAA's here in Charlotte.   Took them out of school for that one!

Adam

Washington, D.C.

HS Mascot: Falcons

HS Sports: Hockey (reigning IM champs before they discontinued it sophomore year, so all-time reigning champ IMHO)

Random/Funny stories: Took Swedish for my language requirement and hosted a Swedish class dinner/party at our house and Carl Hagelin came because he was a freshman and didn't know anyone besides hockey guys at that point. Super quiet and nice, never would've guessed a future NHL player.

Not so much funny but figured Michigan would blow out App State so I blacked out and didn't make it to the game senior year. Woke up and didn't believe we lost :(

About me: born and raised in the mitten state, played rugby for Michigan.  My proudest moment as a rugger was knocking a Michigan State dude twice my size flat on his ass a couple weeks after learning how to play.

In my spare time I like to make music and draw adorably quirky cartoons, like this:
