META - Mobile App down?

Submitted by poseidon7902 on

I looked and am not seeing any reference to the iOS App being down.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling.  It's been happening since yesterday afternoon.  Essentially it's useless.  I get a Maize and blue spinning "thinking" icon and that's it. Never actually loads anything.  I would think that at almost a day it would be posted on here already.  Didn't see it in the other META thread.

I experienced another issue recently when I was told the version of the MGoBlogHD app I was using would no longer work, so I had to upgrade. However, that upgrade required an upgrade of iOS which my somewhat older iPad will not install.

To the developer, if you are reading this, I'm pretty sure the App Store allows you to maintain an older version of the app that is backward compatible with prior versions of iOS, and the App Store will automatically make sure users get the right version of the app depending on their OS. If possible, would be nice to make a version available in the app store that still works for those using older hardware that cannot be updated. Thanks.

Apologies as this is not possible, the App Store is quite limited in this regard.  In order to make necessary improvements for iOS 10, I had to end support for older iOS versions 7 & 8.  It's no longer feasible for me to support these while continuing developement of new features, as I'm a solo developer without access to older devices and their usage represented < 1% of traffic.

Me too. I just assumed Najee had flipped from Alabama to UM. I'm now on the site via my PC, and don't see any confirmation about this rumored flip. Still, I will assume it to be true until I hear specificially otherwise.

First morning there he got some breakfast and served him grits.  He said "what in the fuck is that on my plate????" and was told it was considered quite the delicacy in Alabama and just wait till he tries them with squirrel.  Yummy!

Once he learned that he was expected to eat baby food everyday as well as road kill he packed up and headed north.  Should be in South Quad in time for dinner tomorrow I've heard.

I'm on Android, so I didn't notice, but good call pointing this out.

Unfortunately, the app was developed by a blogger, not anyone on the paid staff, so you may need to wait until they see this, if they do, assuming it is the app itself and not a database issue (which, given the recent performance of the main site, who knows?).

I updated the Mobile app for ios about two weeks ago when prompted and now my Push notifications aren't working even though I've set up preferences within the app settings and my ios settings. Not sure if it's related or not.

FWIW, the app is running much slower since I updated it.

I'm aware of the issue and am working on a fix for iOS 10 users in the next update.  In the interim you may fix push by deleting/reinstalling the app and then making sure push notifcations for MGoBlog HD are turned on in the phone's system settings (note - this is not the same as the the settings in the app).

I often can't get the main site to work, from mobile or laptop. That I can even log in to post this is a relative rarity this week. Either, I get an error at the URL level, or the page loads falsely and I see the front page as it was on January 2, 2017, with the MgoBoard posts dated to then as well (top thread being about Kiffin not coaching in the NCG).

Where you don't get to see the site adds... Become a group exercise instructor?? I like that idea. I stand in front of a room of ~30 people and yell at them while they do jumping jacks.

MGoBlog HD, I see you are responding to issues unrelated to the current outage, but I haven't seen anything on whatever is happening right now. Is this something that is being fixed, or is it unrelated to the app?
