I wanted to get 'McScary' started... I don't know if that will be a thing, but I HAVE A CHANCE TO MAYBE DO IT.
For something more official, the story at MGoBlue.com
What were we 2 years ago? I believe it was 18. I'd say we should be between last year and that year.
#11 sounds about right. Bump it up a notch or two cause of last years success. #9 - #10.
I mean we return a lot and have a high profiles recruiting class, but we lost our two best players and the national player of the year.
#10 to mean seems perfect, not like you can't build off that as people get knocked off.
We should improve with each and every week.
WE'ER CONTENDERS BABY!! This team is going to surprise ALOT of folks...
So excited for next year. With the guys returning and the additions of Irvin, Walton and Donnal, there's gonna be a lot less drop off (dare I say if any) than what the so called experts think. Go Blue!!!
And to the 2 people who negged the OP, shame on you.
I heard they all came in a package deal with Mary Sue
This could have been posted in the other thread below this one, but since I'm in a good mood, I will not down vote it.
is why 2 people actually downvoted this post. This is great news - we're guaranteed to have a quality basketball team for the 4th year in a row next year. That hasn't happened since the 90's. What is there to possibly down vote about this??
Apparently (read my post above) there's one too many of these posts already posted.
compared to the Derrick Green threads from December and January. And all of those will pale in comparison to what might happen this year if we find ourselves in some NSD drama for the likes of Hand, Peppers and others.
Commence blood pressure medication.
Easily a top 5 team in the country! Especially if Caris and Spike take any sort of leap forward.
People have been pissy on this board lately. It wasn't like this last week.
If Payne goes pro, we'll be the best team in the big ten again. 5 McGary 4 Robinson/Donnal 3 Stauskas 2 Irvin 1 Walton/Spike
Morgan, Horford, Levert, Bielfeldt, not only do we have a killer starting five, but the depth is there too. Even if we start out in the 10-15 range, it's all about where we end up at the end of the season.
Lavert?
All reports indicate Payne staying as of now
Great news.
The big questions facing each:
Can GRIII start to create his own offense and be a late shot clock option? That's one big hole created by both Hardaway and Burke leaving. Those were the guys who we could throw it to with 5 seconds left on the clock and know they would get a shot. Or will it have to be Irvin or Walton?
Can McGary develop either a back to the basket game or extend his range? If he can do either, he'll be devastating, and I think he's capable of either. He showed some post-up moves in the tournament and his shot is structurally sound. If he became a pick and pop option, I don't know how you'd defend the pick and roll against him.
The good thing about those questions are that they're exactly the things they'll need to develop for the next level, and they probably know that after getting their draft evals. There's potentially a very nice synergy between player development and team needs.
I'm predicting 1. Michigan/MSU 3. Ohio 4. Wisconsin 5. Indiana 6. Iowa 7. PSU 8. Illinois 9. Minnesota 10. Purdue 11. Nebraska 12. Northwestern
That looks pretty dead-on. Iowa and PSU are going to be very underrated going into next year. Newbill's return and a late season surge will help out PSU a lot especially as some of the lower tier teams in the B1G will struggle again next year. And Iowa nearly won the NIT and brings back a lot of talent.
I agree on Iowa, but I need to see Frazier actually able to play before I believe he'll be a factor. That injury is a career ender. And even when he comes back, they're still probably better than only Nebraska and maybe Northwestern talent-wise. They're going to be a try hard team that can surprise teams in an off-night, but I have a hard time seeing them finishing in front of Minnesota and Purdue, both of which have far better players.
Sigh of relief.
Looks like I'll be buying season tickets next year.
"Rod Beard@detnewsRodBeard12m
Beilein: Plan is to move Glenn Robinson III to small forward and play two big men."
"Chris Balas @ Balas_Wolverine 8m Glenn Robinson III will play the 3 and Mitch McGary the 4 next year. They're looking to play bigger - and it's best for the kids. "
It'll be tough, if not impossible, to replace Burke's production, but I think Albrecht/Walton are up for the challenge. And I have all the faith in the world in LeVert stepping up for Hardaway.
2013 recruiting? Will Beilein go out and try to get another guy for the class? Anyone heard any viable names?
Huge sigh of relief.
Anybody else know when Payne is announcing his decision?
