On rewatch CJ didn’t look for ball till late, appearing to expect it ahead. JJ threw it apparently thinking CJ was turning upfield. If CJ looks sooner he may be able to adjust. That being said, JJ probably should’ve put some air under the ball given how wide open cj was.

Offense sucks.  We're gonna lose next week unless something changes.  Offensive line is terrible run blocking and passing.  Play calling is worse of all. JJ erratic. Receivers can't get open.

Maryland may be the Terrapins but Michigan is the one that turned turtle at the end. Whatever. We escaped with the win and that's all that matters.

Go Blue! Start on the next 1,000 next Saturday!

JJ has to play better and the mistakes were more mental than physical so I’m not buying the mystery injury as the reason . Everyone has some injury at this point in the season.  Get him right and they’ll beat OSU again.

Not great. It’s fine to be a bit worried.

But all that matters is next week. If it’s bad, maybe this week helps tell us why. If it’s good, we don’t care about this week any more.

My hope is that the team spent some of this week preparing for OSU, knowing today's game is ultimately meaningless. They will need a better offensive gameplan/performance if they want to win next week

Not JJ's best game unfortunately.  Throwing the pick right before half and missing CJ on the anOSU special route (which would've been a TD) turned a comfortable game into a rock fight.  Barnhart struggled again, so hopefully Henderson and Hinton are back healthy next week.

The play calling felt a little...weird?  I think they're still figuring out the best procedures with Sherrone pulling double duty.  Aside from the Semaj Morgan sweep TD, I can't really think of anything amazing they ran.  Obligatory "saving it for anOSU," so fine.  Whatever.  Survive and advance.

Go Blue!

Offense seems broken without Harbaugh but you have to give everyone credit considering the circumstances.  Time to pull out all the stops for next week.

Mentioned this in the game thread, but JJ still lets mistakes affect his confidence/play. It's probably his biggest flaw. Unless he absolutely lights it up over the next few(?) games, he's coming back next year.

I know it's only one game, but I feel like we've seen this before: Michigan cruises most of the season, has one or two tough games at the end, then doesn't look ready for the postseason games. I hope that's not true this year.

We never change

We will be "honing" our strengths for 6 weeks, repeating the exact same things we have been doing since August, while every other team with 6 weeks to practice will break tendencies.

A Michigan tradition.

This team isn't beating Bama or Georgia.  Oregon looks troublesome if they get through (Wash I think is a fraud with that defense as is FSU)

Not great, Bob! Either Moore made bad play calls or JJ couldn't hit wide open guys for touchdowns. That play call on first down from the 50 in the 4th was brilliant by Moore. But then JJ completely missed CJ down the field. What's wrong with him? Is he injured?

Unfortunately, deep balls where JJ needs to put some air under it so his receivers can run under it have never been something he has done well.

He has trouble with touch passes too.  Hence the first bad pass before the INT.  He doesn’t have the touch to get it over the defender.

That was their worst game of the year, obviously, and McCarthy’s as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if last week’s all run, all the time philosophy had a negative effect on the passing game, but there’s no way of knowing that. Meyer did say on the broadcast that you have to keep throwing to maintain the timing of the passing game, which makes sense.I also think McCarthy’s not 100% physically, because he wasn’t moving as well as he normally does. I think Harbaugh’s absence is significant as well. Whatever. They’ll have to be better next week, but a win is a win and a let down this week wasn’t surprising at all. The most concerning thing for me is whether they’re going to be stuck with Barnhart at LT, because he isn’t pass blocking anyone. 164 hours until kickoff.

Last year I got ripped for bitching about the Illinois win..... rightly so I guess.  I got ripped this afternoon also.... I guess I'm a very impatient and insecure fan.

But, fuck it, this is a good win considering all the distractions the past few days.

The offense does worry me though. I didn't particularly like the playcalling and I know I certainly couldn't do any better.  However the execution seemed quite off today.

I’m sure they were just protecting him but they are going to have to run JJ at some point if they want to win next weekend. Really missed not having Roman Wilson out there as well, the man just gets open.

I suppose this game proves that Roman is a big piece for this offense. He is arguably the only threat to attack the deep without any setting up for the play to develop.
