Let Brady deflate balls

This makes sense to me, let each team set their own psi.  Aside from that, the range is 12.5 psi to 13.5 psi.  To what extent did the Patriot balls exceed the range?  If their balls were at, say, 12 psi or even 11.5 psi, percentage-wise a negligable violation, like a $100 tax error vs a $100,000 tax error.  I don't condone violating the rules, but perspective needs to be applied.  Also, Brady and the Pats are likely targets for several obvious reasons, Brady in particular.  Like in golf, some rules are just plain stupid, like the penalty if your ball moves from an outsitde influence while addressing it.  Forgive me if this was discussed ad nauseam before.

But really, the worst rule in golf is dropping in a bunker if your ball is in casual water. Anytime you drop in a bunker, you will plug.

Agree on moving on, but how does eliminating the boundary not solve the problem of someone pushing the boundary?

The point is that the NFL allows (as they should) QBs to tailor the football to their liking yet they rather arbitrarily set inflation limits.  Aaron Rodgers wants to go above them.  Tom Brady apparently wants to go below them.  I'm sure there is a wide range in between.  If the NFL would just allow QBs to also dictate air pressure, then this wouldn't be an issue.

George did not need nearly 300 pages to explain "significant shrinkage", as I recall, but in the case of the Patriots and Tom Brady, I would be surprised if much more than some finger wagging and Goodell doing the two-fingered "I'm watching you" gesture came of this. I personally tend to think that this another case of mountains being made from mole hills, but then sometimes they do run thin on topics on sports broadcast and print media in the middle of May...

There is a preponderance of truth and the NFL can do what they want. I think a $25K fine, what the rulebook prescribes for doctoring a football, should be sufficient, but he'll probably get a couple games suspension. I don't agree with that. They have a fine in the rulebook, they shouldn't create additional punishments after the fact.

Pineda got 10 games for using pine tar, a second time, but he only missed 1 start out of 32. That's the equivalent of suspending Brady for a half. Anything more than a game would just be ridiculous pandering by the NFL to the non-NE fans.

I didn't misread the rule book because I didn't read the rule book. I was just repeating what I heard and read from three different sources. Next time, I'll go straight to the source. Still, for a first offense, I don't think anything extra is warranted.

And that is the difference between our fan base and most of the others. We are for the most part reasonable.

If Tom Brady slammed Giselle's head in an elevator he would be disowned by the reasonable part of our base. If he is a couple of psi off an inflation guideline, I think it's reasonable to let him live on.

Most of UM's fan base still thinks UM is a elite program, while every fanbase in the other 49 states, as well as 1/2 of Michigan , the sparty 1/2, see UM as they are. Vomit, that is nothing more than a 5-7 program that talks about its past glory days. Another words, just like Navy. Tho Navy is slightly better today. This is evident in the view of Brady's cheating by UM fans who seem to think it no big deal. Well maybe it is, maybe it isn't. But what about Brady's lying and false claims of " no knowledge" ? Seems UM fans want to overlook that, unless of course someone else does it. Typical low character loser behavior.

The easiest and best solution is to have one set of official footballs. Stop the doctoring by individual teams. If they can play with the same set of balls in almost every other sport, I think they can manage in football. They need to get rid of the rule change in 2006 that allowed each team to provide their own footballs.

not have been fondling his balls.  He should "self-impose" a four game leave or suspension without pay, apologize, be like "my bad, I wanted perfect balls and I should not have done this" and this whole thing would go away.

There is no "competitive advantage" problem really, they killed the Colts and played with legal footballs against the Seahawks.  There is no evidence this happened before the Colts game.  He should get in front of this.  The denials are not helping him.

totally bogus. The NFL wasn't checking ball psi mid game before so it literally has no idea which teams had over or underinflated balls in EVERY other game. Other QB's even admitted that they had variously inflated balls. Selective enforcement is patently unfair. And by one gauge, the Colts had several underinflated balls in the same game. The NFL should admit it's shoddy performance in enforcing the rule, change its practices, apologize to Brady and the Pats for smearing them and move on.
