At least UM isn't USC

What do you think Trojan Nation is feeling right now? All those top players just had their asses handed to them by a bunch of nerds! Trojan fans must be seriously roaming around South Central hoping for some Black or Latino gang banger to off them. That's how miserable they are. Michigan might be in the dumpster but they are building something that will produce. USC has the product that full of talent experience yet they got shellacked by a team that was the laughing stock of the Pac 10 just three years ago. Goes to show you that USC has deeper problems than U of M. So have faith my Michigan brothers. UM might be down but they are not out. This team will come back with a vengeance. Just be patient!

With it clearly stated that I would NEVER, EVER root for another college football team in any meaningful way, and that I am still very much pro-Rodriguez, and that this was a terrible loss for them: Stanford is a very decent team this year, and I would be thrilled to be in USC's position both in the short and long term. They're going to be absolutely fine - we know better than most the struggles of inexperienced QBs. They do not have deeper problems than us, period.

USC has first year coordinators on both sides of the ball, many injured players, and a first year quarterback. I would bet any amount of money they lose fewer games than Michigan over the remainder of this season and the next two years. I would kill to have their problems right now.

Stanford under Harbaugh has been building a steadily improving program and Stanford can field a competitive, even conference contending team (see; Tyrone Willingham). Stanford may even be a conference pre-season pick next year if they can find a replacement for the RB. And Harbaugh seems to have Carroll's number-- one of the few coaches to have that honor. It's not like USC has bottomed out. They're going to finish 2nd to 4th in a solid conference. They lost I think 6 or 7 d starters to the NFL draft not to mention they're starting a TRUE FRESHMAN QB (sound familiar?). USC is still a world class program, and once Caroll's coordinators get their feet wet for next year and their starting RB, TE, and #1 WR return from injury, they'll be a powerhouse.

Speaking of Harbaugh, what a huge dick. First he goes for two when they've already put up 48-21 with 6 minutes left. When the game is over the cameras were on him and they catch him saying something along the lines of: "look at 'em running into the end zone, look at 'em.."

"..Trojan fans must be seriously roaming around South Central hoping for some Black or Latino gang banger to off them." funniest statement ever, I am absolutely floored by that comment. It's probably true! I just got back from roaming the streets of Highland Park! No luck tonight. Go Blue

I totally know! Who wants this type of run over the past 9 years (thanks Wikipedia!):
  • Two BCS Championship Game appearances (win over Oklahoma, and a loss to Texas)
  • Two national championships, including the AP 2003 national championship and the undisputed 2004 national championship.
  • Seven consecutive Associated Press Top-4 finishes
  • A record six BCS bowl victories
  • A record seven consecutive BCS bowl appearances
  • A record seven consecutive years as Pac-10 Champions or Co-Champions
  • A national-record 33 consecutive weeks as AP's No. 1-ranked team
  • A winning record of 94–16 (85.6%), including 15–2 against traditional rivals Notre Dame and UCLA
  • A NCAA record of 63 straight 20-point games
  • Twenty-five All-American first teamers
  • 53 players selected in the NFL Draft, including 14 in the first round.
  • Three Heisman Trophy winners (Carson Palmer, 2002; Matt Leinart, 2004; Reggie Bush, 2005)
  • Four Top-5 recruiting classes
  • Win streaks for home games (34) and Pac-10 home games (22).
  • In 2007, USC became the first NCAA FBS team to achieve six consecutive 11-win seasons.[47] In 2008, USC added an unprecedented seventh consecutive 11-win season.
  • 28–0 in the month of November
  • Only team in history to win three consecutive Rose Bowl Games
  • Oh Yeah, and this on the sideline
Listen, I don't think UM will be down for much longer, but lets not kid ourselves here.

I don't think the OP was referring to USC over the last 9 years. Look at the performances today: SC played on the road, we played in Madison, a notoriously difficult stadium to play in. We played a 2 loss team ranked #20, they played a 3 loss unranked team (this is nearly a draw, but the slight edge is still in our favor). SC lost 55-21, we lost 45-24. Both blowouts, but we were still in the game longer than they were. The last piece: USC was expected to make a national title run, was top 3 preseason, and have taken at least a share of the Pac Ten since Carson Palmer's senior year. This year is a big step down from what they've been lately.

No, I understood what the OP was saying. But considering this is a "down" year for USC, saying we wouldn't want to be in their shoes is insane. Last year UM was down, and it resulted in 3-9 and a loss to Toledo. This year, USC is down with losses to Oregon, Washington, and Stanford (which may win the Pac-10 this year). They'll still play in a nice bowl game, and will be back to dominating the Pac-10 next year. And anyone who saw them winning a MNC this year with a freshman QB and all new LBs was clearly not paying attention. I think the OP was going for humor, but let's not overreact.

Not just for a wholly irrational view of USC, but for a wonderful dose of racism! Yay! I tell ya, nothing adds spice to being a true fan of Michigan more than a good cross burning. Holy shit.

This was so colossally idiotic that I had to read it three times to make sure it wasn't tongue in cheek. I still can't tell. BP, tongue in cheek, right? (psst... say yes!)

Good thing threads can only be started by 500 pointers. I think you've stumbled upon Michigan's marketing campaign to sell the rest of the boxes: "Michigan football: in better shape than Virginia's"

Freshmen QBs, new DC, young defense and they are setting records they would rather not talk about. Funny how it puts the problems in AA in perspective just a bit. Maybe the talk of firing the coach would be, "taking the advice of the galactically STUPID."

Trojan nation is on suicide watch... http://www.tributetotroy.com/ Btw, South Central LA has LATINO and BLACK gangs. I know from experience. You have to go a few miles north to get the Asian gangs in Little Toyko and Chinatown and then a little farther North into SFV/SGV for the Armenian gangs. Unfortunately, L.A. doesn't have Little Italy so no true Italian gang. The Jewish gang resides in Hollywood, Glendale, Burbank, Culver City, Santa Monica, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Venice, SFV, and Malibu and continue to make crappy movies.

I know a lot of people are giving the OP a really hard time and running to the "well, but, USC has won eighty bajillion conference championships in a row" type stuff, but having watched about half of USC's games this year, there really should be some level of concern within their fanbase. If you really look at what they've done this year (you can look at the scores and the stats, but also if you watch the games) there is something very wrong with this USC team on the defensive side of the ball. The Barkley youth can be written off in part for the offensive struggles, but that's not the whole story. It's a term with a very veteran offensive line that should be way better than it is and running backs that should be way better than they are. Same goes with the receivers. The same can be said on the defensive side of the ball. They lost a lot of top talent after last year, but this is the first time in really the last 10 years or so that USC has lost a bunch of talent like that and have actually missed a beat the next year. So while the OP was over the top in terms of sensationalism, there is some validity to his point if you consider what is going on there RIGHT NOW and not what they've done over the past several years (which was what his point was).
