Not surprising. Haven't heard a thing about him.
October 19th, 2020 at 9:51 AM ^
Also sounds like he was passed up by several freshman in the offseason. Hopefully he finds a good landing spot for his skill set

I sense a theme in your recent posts. And I happen to concur with your sentiments.
October 19th, 2020 at 10:00 AM ^
I may be wrong but I think I recall hearing he was "a year away", which would make sense if he's seeking to transfer and play sooner.
October 19th, 2020 at 9:53 AM ^
I'm sure he'll be an All American next year
October 19th, 2020 at 10:09 AM ^
At Georgia
October 19th, 2020 at 11:20 AM ^
No one else that's hit the portal has done anything significant.
October 19th, 2020 at 12:00 PM ^
Ben St. Juste.
Brandon Peters.
Aubrey Solomon.
I'm sure there are more. Two of those are current positions of MAJOR need for Michigan too. Granted, I don't think either one was a straight playing time transfer, but those two would be real nice to have back right now.
October 19th, 2020 at 12:05 PM ^
None of those 3 have been anything other than “meh” at their new schools. I don’t see any of them as losses .... and Solomon was vastly overrated as a 5-star
October 19th, 2020 at 12:24 PM ^
Gonna disagree pretty hard on St Juste. He is a starting quality DB and was all B1G honorable mention last year. That’s certainly better than just about anything we have currently.
October 19th, 2020 at 1:12 PM ^
Solomon is definitely "addition by subtraction".
St. Juste is disappointing and was just strange, here's hoping and overly cautious team doctor had his best interests in mind and be glad for him he can play.
October 19th, 2020 at 9:55 AM ^
Well hell. Best of luck to him and hope he finds a good landing spot.
October 19th, 2020 at 9:59 AM ^
Hoping this means good things about our freshmen being "Devin Bush 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 etc"
October 19th, 2020 at 10:02 AM ^
Best of luck, Charles. I hear Florida State needs linebackers.
October 19th, 2020 at 10:07 AM ^
Speaking of FSU, and what 8 days of momentum shift can/could do...
FSU upset number 5 North Carolina this weekend. This upcoming weekend, FSU is at a a very winnable Louisville, while we play at Minnesota. "IF" FSU wins and we lose to Minny, Cooper may very well look less likely to leave FSU and come here.
BEAT MINNY!
October 19th, 2020 at 10:36 AM ^
And now you're going to have to tell us all where you picked up your "worry beads" so we can order some too.
October 19th, 2020 at 10:39 AM ^
I sure as heck hope recruits don’t base where they’re going to spend the next 3-5 years of their life based on one weekend of play.
October 19th, 2020 at 10:45 AM ^
UNC should never have been ranked #5. The fact that they were ranked above OSU is laughable. They really haven’t played anyone either so we can’t say how good they really are. I just know that they are NOT “#5 team in America” good.
As for FSU, it was a big win to stop the bleeding, but we’ll still be in play for Cooper. That was a team that struggled to put away Jacksonville State just a few weeks ago. FSU is going to get a big and heavy dose of reality in a few weeks when they have to go play Clemson. FSU might get 60 hung on them (granted, OSU could do that to us). They still have a long, long way to go to get even close to where they were 4-5 years ago.

So our only non freshmen ILB right now are McGrone and Ross. I'm sure some guys could move around if necessary, either from SAM or viper, but depth there is a concern this year especially in a COVID year. Beyond that we better hope the current freshmen and incoming freshmen are ready to go next year
October 19th, 2020 at 10:13 AM ^
Brian and Seth both seem pretty convinced that we would move Barrett inside and play Solomon at Viper in case of an injury to Ross or McGrone. Hopefully it doesn't come to that, but I would imagine that's the plan.
October 19th, 2020 at 10:40 AM ^
I agree with this, though not necessarily because Brian and Seth say so. I haven't heard a peep of noise regarding Thomas and the depth chart. Nothing. Not even crickets. I have no doubts that the freshmen, let alone Solomon and Barrett, are all above him in the pecking order. I hold nothing against Thomas - I wish him the best. I just have to believe, by glint of name drops, that he's slid so far down the bench he's get slivers in his ass. (And as we all know - 'glint of name drops' means pretty much nothing.)
Good luck Charles!
October 19th, 2020 at 11:17 AM ^
It seems to me we were hearing some favorable comments about Thomas until very recently, then nothing at all. Then he was immediately dropped from the roster when he entered the portal. I'm pretty sure that's not their standard practice.
Add that to the timing and I have my suspicions that this is not a playing time transfer.
October 19th, 2020 at 11:30 AM ^
Possible, kids make mistakes Let's hope if your suspicion is correct it's something he can learn from, move on somewhere else and use this as a learning experience rather than the end of his collegiate experience.
October 19th, 2020 at 10:14 AM ^
Does Barrett and Solomon count as non-freshman LBs?
October 19th, 2020 at 10:25 AM ^
Probably in the sense that they can move in from viper like I said, but they're not practicing as ILBs. If we have an starting ILB go out though I'd guess either Barrett will move inside and Solomon starts at Viper or we see the Hill-Green hype in action.
October 19th, 2020 at 10:23 AM ^
Good luck to him. Hopefully he finds a good place.
October 19th, 2020 at 10:25 AM ^
The COVID eligibility coupled with a huge amount of young LBs, figured we would lose someone. Best of luck to Charles.
October 19th, 2020 at 10:39 AM ^
Not shocking given the depth of talent at the position and the incoming haul in 2021
October 19th, 2020 at 10:42 AM ^
LB room is more crowded than ever so some transfers are expected. RB, WR, OLine, and LB feel like the deepest positions we have going forward so not so worried about the recent transfers. Good luck to Thomas.
October 19th, 2020 at 12:18 PM ^
It's crowded but they're mostly very young.
October 19th, 2020 at 11:13 AM ^
There's gonna be a decent amount of attrition at LB for the foreseeable future. There's just too much depth and talent there to please everyone
October 19th, 2020 at 11:22 AM ^
Never heard of him so ok
October 19th, 2020 at 11:31 AM ^
He was 3rd of the depth chart, at best. Maybe lower; so I wish Charles the best in the future.
October 19th, 2020 at 12:12 PM ^
Not listed on roster. May have withdrawn from school.
October 19th, 2020 at 12:18 PM ^
Has Vegas found out about this major development? Might move the spread by .0000001 points.
October 19th, 2020 at 1:45 PM ^
I wish him luck but it drives me crazy how many kids are giving up and transferring (not just a Michigan) when they have only been with a team for such a short period of time. If you get behind on the depth chart compete harder do extra lifting don’t just give up. Tarik Black transferred and is now 4th in yards and TD for Texas, Mcdoon did not play much at USF, Drew Singleton is a back up at Rutgers, Oliver Martin backup at Iowa. Work hard and stop giving up.
October 19th, 2020 at 4:12 PM ^
Not sure it's a coincidence that players who are quick to transfer instead of putting in more work dont pan out at their new destination.
QB is a bit of an outlier here and I dont blame them for transferring for PT.
October 19th, 2020 at 4:36 PM ^
St Juste, Solomon and James Hudson wouldd all be likely starters or at least on 2-deep on this team.
October 19th, 2020 at 7:31 PM ^
Looks like it got late early for the young man, best of luck.
