Lane Kiffin will not coach in the championship

Saban just held a press conference saying Sarkisian will take over his duties.

Seeing as Saban is the ultimate ASS, I watched a lot of Bama this year and I cannot believe how much of a ass Saban actually was to Kiffen. He belittled him and yelled at him countless times. Saban should remember he's talking to grown men. I still can't believe no coach has whooped Sabans ass yet. He talks to these coaches like little kids. I wish some assistant would just haul off and crazy Saban.

Not too surprised. Happens a lot in the real business world. Get another job, put in your "two weeks" notice, and if your relationship is great at the company, you get cards and gifts and a going away party. If said relationship is not so hot, they bring security down and escort you out and say "good luck, but we don't need a distraction around here." Lane seems likely to be focused more on himself than the task at hand.

Was Sark able to coach during playoff practice since he was named OC right after Lane accepted FAU job? If so wouldn't that have put them over coaching limit?

Not to dwell on a guy's issues, but not sure putting a huge amount of pressure on Sarkisian is the best recipe for the guy right now.  But we'll see.  I definitely expect the line to move toward Clemson.

Exactly - one week to go to a huge game when (1) you haven't actually done playcalling in real time for a while (2) huge expectations (3) huge consequences - basically if Alabama doesn't put 28 points or more on the board, there will be a lot of criticisms and heaven help him if Clemson wins.

It is too bad that there aren't more John U Bacon like writers out there at these big programs. I would love to read about what really happened - even if there is a 2-3 year wait.

Saban was chewing on Kiffin for the 99th time. Bullying & belittling him as only Nick can. Ol Laney finally had enough and told St. Nick to shut his midget troll mouth or he would shut it for him.

It's pretty obvous what happened. Kiffin made those comments earlier in the week about no happy times with Nick and that he would only remember the ass chewings, that he would not take that part of the process with him to FAU. They probably don't like each other or at least not after that. Saban made the power play to show Kiffin up since Kiffin did it to him. They are both chodes. Can't stand Saban. I hope Clemson comes in and destroys the Alabama offense so Nick can always have that move attributed to him not tying Bear Bryant because his self-righteous pride got in the way. He is so full of himself. Kiffin is an assmunch too but there's only so many times you're going to let some little guy with a Napoleon complex berate you in a public forum (sideline) before you saiy something about it. Especially when you're on your way out the door.
