Keys to Homecoming Victory

Submitted by NelzQ on

Greetings fellow Michigan faithful.

I'm thinking the keys to winning Saturday are framed with very little room for error.

Northwestern is a very dangerous team. They have confidence, solid leadership, very good personnel; and what stands out the most to me is that they're being somewhat disrespected by all the media pundits picking Michigan by a comfortable margin. I think this team is going to come into the big house with a big chip on their shoulder and throwing haymakers.

Here are my keys to victory:

1. Come to knock them out. Michigan has to match blow for blow early and throw their own knockout punches. Finishing this team early is the ideal outcome.

2. Efficiency. Every opportunity will need to be seized.

3. Focus. Michigan has to have complete focus on each down. Receivers need to see the ball into their hands and the DBs must catch the INT balls thrown their way.

4. The next step for the defense is to score the ball. Pick six, safety.

What do you guys think are the keys?

Go Blue!

Field position is key in these types of games. We need to have a loud crowd to mess with the NW offense since they haven't played in a big road game atmosphere yet. No penalties or turnovers.

You gotta show GRIT, have HEART, give 110%, never give up, work harder than the guy across from you, and just be real FOOTBALL PLAYERS out there. It's all about the SWAGGER and the ATTITUDE. Never say die, because it ain't over 'til it's over. Play through the whistle and PROTECT THIS HOUSE. JUST DO IT because ALL DAY I DREAM ABOUT SPORTS.

Grit is good here.  There are many keys in this game, but a huge one IMO is starting out on top - like going up 10-0.   Michigan simply can't let NU think they can get the upper hand on Michigan in our house.  I think getting an early lead, then clamping down on defense, and a loud crowd will take the wind out of their sales.  Go Blue!

The defense and special teams are enough to secure a victory for Michigan so long as they aren't put into terrible situations by the offense on turnovers. RBs need to hold onto the ball even if it means getting down and not picking up that extra yard, and Rudock needs to be smart with his decision making. The corners for NW are very good and will take full advantage of bad passes. Throwing it away on 3rd down and letting O'Neill and the defense do their thing is infinitely more preferable than forcing a bad throw and turning it over.

I just don't see NU as a dangerous team. I know their defense is great, but I haven't seen anything about their offense that gives me any concern. granted I haven't seen all their games, but frankly if their offense scores 10-13 points I'll be surprised. I do believe their defense can score some points and I think that's they only way they win this game.

Northwestern will sports their best and try to score some points, so we just have outsports them and score even more points.

To win, we will need to stop them from scoring points, while we ourselves score points.
