Kevin Huerter - he gone

Submitted by ypsituckyboy on

Another recruit that Beilein identified early and missed out on is headed to the NBA. He's gonna be a nice role player in the NBA. Good size, very good vision, and solid shooter. Glad to avoid playing him in 2018-2019.

He's a nice player. I don't know if his skills are strong enough to carve out a niche.

He basically needs to become a Kyle Korver type (yeah, white athlete comparison).

decent athleticism, and a great shooter (60%!! from 2 and 41% from 3) will get you good looks from the NBA.

The thing about role players in college is that they translate to role players in the NBA.  If you have to dominate the ball in college to be effective, there's always a question of how you'll adjust to a complimentary role in the pros.  Huerter could seamlessly transition to being a guy off the bench that hits corner threes and is the third option on offense - pretty much the same role he played at Maryland.

That said, guys that get drafted late in the first round or second round usually don't stick in the NBA so it's not like he's a sure thing.  But no one is at that point.

Kennard can make his own shot, Huerter probably plays better D. Kennard is an underratedly strong dude and has 10 plus lbs on Kevin, Kevin is a couple inches taller.

Either way, they should have drafted Mitchell.

From about an hour ago, he is returning to Michigan. Last year I posted dj was returning because that’s what dj told Charles personally. I was obviously wrong about that even though I feel I shared valid and legit information. His dad wants him to return and his brothers are pushing him to go pro. I personally have shared with his family and people close that I feel he should return. Just seems like common knowledge he’ll probably end up overseas or in the G-league.

Guy sounds pretty close to the situation:

John miller Mhoops:

I truly believe a full decision has not been made yet. At least not one that I’ve been made aware of and I’ve talked to his father and both brothers.

Coming back or going to europe and play for $100,000 of tax free coin/year.

Going to Europe probably doesn't do his draft stock as well as staying in school....

Staying in school doesn't pay $100,000 tax free.

That's what I think, anyway.

Do not dream of not being drafted and spending their time in Europe. It sounds nice to us, but for them, it's not their goal.

They all want to play in the NBA. If that's his goal (which it is), leaving this year makes no sense. The draft is one of the strongest it has been in a LONG time, and he's MAYBE a 2nd rounder. Next year, the talent pool shrinks, he'll have another year under his belt to shore up his game, and get 1st round money.
