Kalis officially decommits from OSU

Five star tackle Kyle Kalis has decommitted from Ohio State. Story on Scout.com.

BOOM!

I'm excited more as a Michigan fan, than as an OSU hater.  These kids hate letting people down, and understandably so, so lets try to downplay the OSU aspect and cheer the potential of getting a 5*.  Clearly, this was a tough decision for Kyle.

Also see statement from Tom VH below.

Wow this is going to get very interesting. Not only will his recruitment become intense, but you have to wonder what kind of effect this will have on Dunn and even other big time recruits that seemed to waiver a bit. Does anyone know who he will be considering and how important being close to home is? I am trying to get a hold of my friends who follow recruiting since i know nothing on my own.

I can't say much about anything with him because I think it's sensitive. I will say that this is something to keep an eye on. Definite interest in Michigan.

It's his choice to do whatever he wants, but I think this speaks volumes about someones character, you promise someone that you're wholeheartedly in, and then you withdraw. Kind of shows that you for a lack of better terms have no balls.

Yea, I'm sure this tough guy would say that to a 6'5 302lb athlete in person.

when they coach a Big 10 football team in Ohio and to entice an 18 year old kid to play for them, they tell the kid that their school has a certain set of morals and values, but then it turns out that coach has been lying to his superiors, the press and the team and actually there's a whole other set of values and morals going on.

I also think it speaks volumes about an 18 year old kid who wouldn't want to be associated with such a program.

he is a Buckeye through and through, i think he will look around at other schools, like michigan and penn state, but he wants to be a Buckeye. I believe we could have ourselves a commitment from Kyle Kalis this weekend

If this was in response to what i said I agree with you in the fact that Dunn will be a tough pull no matter what. However we both know this will create even more talk about getting Dunn. I will add that I have talked to a few of my recruiting guru friends who have heard and believe Michigan will be hard to beat for Kalis. I liked that Tom gave an encouraging cryptic post as well. I would love for you to be right, and that it happens this weekend.

Hoke is about to reach across the table in the middle of dinner, grab a commit right off O$U's plate and then excuse himself for a golden bowel movement!

It's a full time jack move! Wonder if this will be the *one* "major" decommit that starts a mini-stampede away from tOSU, or gives pause to most others strongly considering them in spite of their impending screwing.

Remember when Dreisbach1817 was told he was the grim reaper? Yeah, not anymore. This is really good news if only because he's got a definite interest in Michigan. I'm going to temper my excitement until he commits to us or somewhere that is not OSU though.

At the Dispatch website for the hell of it.  The posters there are too busy in-fighting to notice that Kalis is getting out of dodge.  Very strange phenomenon.  I think it hurts so bad that they're turning on each other, questioning others' "love" of and "loyalty" to the school.
