Bakes said that Brandon's support among the Regents breaks down along party lines. The six Democrats want him gone. The two Republicans support him. So, bad for Brandon, good for us.

remember the Bellomy Nebraska game?    I said it was pretty clear to me that Hoke was in over his head......didnt even have a propper #2 QB to back up injury plagued Denard.

I love seeing people with tons of MgoBlog points who post trivia or their own personal inside joke dialogs......because if you dont toe the party line here, you get neg bombed.

Not my fault I saw Hoke for a clown years ago.

should turn their attention to tuition. I mean seriously...kids can't afford to go to school there and they are worrying about ticket prices? What a joke.

People may get what they wish for in terms of firings but it's less than a sure thing that the new prez will replace Brandon and Hoke with distracting high profilers.

First, not taking political sides! Not my thing.

I must admit I'm shocked that the six Democrat Regents haven't taken their shot at Brandon publicly. I wonder if they will tomorrow. Simply put, it's a no-lose. They can take shots at a grossly unpopular public figure who, as their luck would have it, happen to be tied heavily to their opposition party. Don't forget, Brandon had talked about an been talked about as a candidate for certain elected positions. This gives them a chance to take out a potential political adversary while it's politically expedient to do so. The Regents are also under fire and lawsuit for not making their meetings as public as they need to be. Tomorrow's meeting is a chance to be as public and press-quote worthy as they want with no real consequences.

That just seems so incredibly asinine to me. What does his political party affiliation have to do with his ability to run an athletic department? If he isn't the right man for the job, then fine, but don't make the decision based on politics. This makes me strongly question whether the regents are even capable of making a reasonable and educated decision on the best direction for the athletic department and university as a whole moving forward. Is the fact that Brandon is a Republican really the main reason that we aren't winning as many football games??

Yeesh. No one is saying this is a completely partisan issue.

At the same time, DB's party affiliation and one-time (and perhaps continued) political ambitions are well known. It's not surprising the two regents affiliated with said political party would probably support him in the face of what should be a rather unified front against an astonishingly unpopular Athletic Director.

... are their interests aligned with the Universities.  DB is a power player in the state GOP, even if unpopular currently with University students.  If they betray him here, and pretty much admit he is a failure, it will ruin his political career and may also ruin the regents political careers.

At the end of the day, they will stick with him, and have a united front so it mitigates the long term fallout.

"Support among the regents breaks down along party lines." Let me check...yep that's about as partisan as it gets. I don't know anything about running an athletic dept, and I have never met DB, so it is impossible for me to judge the quality of his work other than the basketball team has exceeded expectations lately and the football team has not. How much credit DB gets for both situations is impossible for me to judge. All I know is that I would prefer that the people who are responsible for making those judgments, do so based on their direct knowledge of what is going on, and not based on what will score them the most points with their respective political party. If DB truly deserves to be fired and certain regents vote to keep him anyway out of selfish ambitions, then I would not consider those individuals very trustworthy and would not be interested in supporting them in the future.
