Jeter?

So was he hurt all year or lost on the depth chart?  Was looking forward to him being a big contributor-could have used him in the middle.

When going on the internet it is best to state a wrong answer than to ask a question. Giving an incorrect answer will get you a hundred posts correcting you, and giving you an answer. Asking a question will get you snark and shit replies until the end of time. For example....

”I think Jeter looked good this year and should be a solid anchor going forward”

You would get more info to debunk your position than the entire interwebs combined. This also would give more info on the topic you seek.

OH boy, I know exactly how this is going to end. Also, you can always look up ANY of the detailed participation charts, game breakdowns, previews and the answers are there.  BUT GOOD LUCK FOR WHAT IS GOING TO FOLLOW.

He was coming off a knee injury and was out all last season... Harbaugh praised him in spring... then he played and looked immobile and slow, and very ineffective....I'm hoping this was due to injury, because he looked really bad.

And take a look at this... look at our DT recruting the past three years....   Paea, Jeter, Welschof, and Welschof is now listed as a DE !    Am still shocked how this was on Harbaugh's watch. Sure, Solomon transferred, but not have any depth behind him, is total fail.

If you are going to whine, please try to be correct.  Welschof was ALWAYS a SDE prospect that “we” supposed would grow into at least a 3-tech.

I do not disagree that the pure DT recruiting has been spotty - Hinton and Smith were a good class in 2019 but 2020 is full of SDE types that again “we” project as growing into 3-tech types instead of landing pure tackles.  This may be a scheme plan by Brown - more 3 man lines? - but it is definitely not good solution for Power-rushing teams like OSU, Wisconsin, and MSU if they ever get a good OL again....(nevermind)

Not gonna lie  I'm getting really tired of people acting like assholes in threads like this one.

To answer your question, he really struggled against Wisconsin period from what I understand he did not play much after that game although I saw him a bit during the Ohio state game

It's necessary.  It's a very short road from one post like this getting through without being justifiably murdered, to an entire mgoboard of navel gazers posting threads like:

"Here's what I'd say about Don Brown..."

"Simpson?"

"The one thing that we needed to do"

"5 items that XX and XX, you won't believe #4"

"Gary?"

"As I've said before, drama things that people say"

Labeling posts with enough words to describe what they're actually about isn't hard, and allows people to read or ignore them.

We're all mods, using our upvote and downvote buttons.

If you agree this is a terrible thread title and the lack of even minimal effort it displays should be discouraged, we're on the same side.  If you believe it should be removed by a mod, and I'm fine with it getting nuked by the community, that's just method.

It's not a question.  It's a person's name with a question mark behind it.  People are negging the title because it's dumb and lazy.

If the title were "How come we didn't see more of Jeter?", people wouldn't be negging.  I would have ignored the thread entirely, as most would have.

Do you have any info as to why Mazi Smith got so little PT this season? Was he injured? Was he simply not what his recruiting ranking implied he was?

I'm not under the illusion that he would have made a huge difference last Saturday, but given the depth issues at a position of need, I'm puzzled why he wasn't played early in the year to prep for the late season games.

The answer to this is always that he's not good enough.  He wasn't good enough to boot kemp off the field, he wasn't good enough to get in front of Hinton for the rotation you mention, and he wasn't even good enough to get in front of Jeter (who looked bad as most are saying) and Speight.

He's a true freshman pure noseguard, it's not a big deal that he wasn't ready this year.

Jeter played Saturday when Michigan seemed desperate to find an answer at DT.  Seemed like they settled on Kemp/Hinton by the end if the game after pulling both Dwumfor and Jeter.
