James Franklin wishes other B1G schools and Notre Dame would allow Penn State to move on.

Submitted by NFG on

Not sure if yardbarker is banned or not, but they posted an article where Franklin is quoted as saying:

" I'm in Chicago at a wedding of one of my former players and the most recent things (allegations that late Penn State football coach Joe Paterno was told that Sandusky abused children in the 1970s) come up. I spend all Friday and Saturday on the phone talking to all of our players because other schools are contacting them and telling them the NCAA is going to get involved again and impose more sanctions… The people we’re competing with – Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame – this is just not something they have to deal with. Although we want to move on, those other schools are not letting us move on."

He goes on to say...

"Those programs as well as others know that and use that against us. We have that conversation with every single prospect. We don’t usually initiate it, but it’s coming from somewhere."

Does Harbaugh need to negatively recruit against PSU? No. Am I happy he does? Yes.

Here is to a thousand years of Penn State being trashed for allowing children to be raped on their campus by a football coach, and covering it up.

Football (including recruiting) down south is not a gentleman's game.  It's the same thing up here.  He just isn't aware of it from his SEC days because he didn't have to deal with negative recruiting.  The name Vanderbilt, with assistance from their educational requirements, do enough negative recruiting on its own.

You reap what you sow.  I hope PSU never regains any semblance of glory for the rest of it's pathetic existance and their program dies from a billion small cuts only to be at the level of Eastern Michigan in a decade.

If no one (the NCAA or Delaney) has the balls to eliminate their football program from the face of the earth forever, which should have happened, then at least they can constantly be forced to talk about the atrocities at every turn while their program maintains a state of steep decline.

I'm so fucking sorry that your coach raped kids, and that makes is hard for you to recruit. What a dipshit. If you want to move on, ask everyone of those kids, and all of there family's for forgiveness, and once they move on, you can. Until then, shut the hell up and live in the shit storm your school caused. If you get paid by a school that did this, then you take on their obligations too.

Bring it up except the cult-like Penn State culture keeps denying or minimizing the issue. Seriously, they act like nothing ever happened.

They say it takes 1/2 the time of a relationship to fully get over the loss ...so being part of a relationship for 3yrs will take at least a year to recover from.

Perhaps Penn State should expect a few more decades before people "move on" from the horrific and vile behavior that was enabled by the almighty Joe Paterno.

Fuck you Penn State and Fuck JoePa ....for years and years and years.

Franklin is a fraud and a weasel who will say anything to try to save himself.  If you think Penn St was contrite, ask yourself why they hired Franklin, he of the hostesses and assistant coach "hot wives".  If Penn St officials had cared about anything other than winning football games, they would not have hired this guy.  Unfortunately for them (and fortunately for the rest of us), Franklin is a fraud of a coach, so they're not winning much, either.  That fan base is pathetic and disgusting.

In the three recruiting classes from 2014-2016, Michigan has exactly three players from Pennsylvania. Not sure I'm buying the argument that it is our fault the Nits can't attract players.

a whiney little bit__!  He sucks as a coach and can't deal with the truth.  We all know Harbaugh doesnt need to negative recruit against this guy.  What they did at Penn State is disgusting and anyone that tries to run from the truth doesnt belong in the BIG.

Nonetheless, his days are numbered because he is 4th/5th best coach in theBIG EAST at best.

I mean, UM got negatively recruited about RR getting fired and the whole stretching fiasco for basically his whole tenure, and none of that included the systematic cover-up of child sexual assault for over a decade.

Yeah, I'm sure it sucks for PSU's coaches that people bring up the fact that the program continues to make excuses for what happened under Sandusky.  But you can't ask people to stop bringing up factual situations; start winning and those voices go away.

And let's be honest; these kids know about it.  If they have expressed interest in PSU still, I doubt Urban Meyer or Jim Harbaugh talking about it will make a difference.

I was all for Penn State receiving the death penalty for five seasons.

Any time there's a scandal so severe that your school President, Athletic Director, and Head Coach all lose their jobs, it's safe to say that that school is unfit to be associated with.

The AAU kicks out Nebraska for having its med school offcampus and having an agricultural background....but the Big Ten can't remove Penn State for harboring and enabling a prolific pedophile for decades.

By naming only UM, OSU, MSU, and ND, Franklin is playing into the delusion that many PSU fans have that they are on the same level.  They're not.  They might have been at one time, but they certainly are not close to the same level now.  And I love how Franklin has a built in excuse for his team sucking for the next 2-3 years.

was bitching because Franklin was using negative recruiting when he and asst were laughing at Harbaugh and his unique recruiting strategy when they were hosting Micheal Ownufour. Yeah, you know his ass was burning........Oh wait, Jim never said anyting about that.

Has to be when he was recruiting Rashaun and Franklin was badmouthing any and everyone in his attempt to get into the good graces of Ms. Coney who said of Harbaugh, "All the other coachs use their energy talking bad about others. Coach Harbaugh just speaks about what Michigan has to offer.

O.K. I give. You'll have to give an example.

I'll never forget watching the Happy Valley documentary all those fucking delusional asshole fans chanting and parading in the streets, cheering for that scumbag JoePa. I also won't forget all those piece of shit fans still wanting to take a picture with JoePa's statue even after all the facts pointed to him clearly hiding child abuse. While the new administration and new coaches are in place, those scumbag, delusional fans are still there defending that asshole. His fat ass sons won't shut up either. A giant, big middle finger and fuck you to Penn State and they're fans now and forever. Fuck off and quit bitching. You deserve all the hate.

This kind of negative recruiting would be acceptable if only we would GET RID OF THEM. It's like "hey look at those assholes over there we continually choose to be affiliated with". We really have no room to complain so long as they're in the conference, and if we wish to get rid of them to at least be in the high ground, start a PUBLIC campaign and call out illinois or whoever the hell is fighting to keep them

We have left the conference before over less essential crap
