Considering we were sitting at 11 scholarship roster players with him, I don’t think this is optimal for the team. He may not be a major minutes contributor but he can provide some hustle minutes and plays to provide a breather for our starters. We don’t have a lot of wiggle room for injuries this year.

I mean, Howard had 8 TOs last year and 37 points, 26 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.  You want to know who else had more TOs than assists, steals, and blocks at Michigan - Chaundee Brown, with 21 turnovers to 18 assists, 4 steals and 7 blocks.  He scored more but he also played a ton more minutes.  Another guy who turned the ball over more than he assisted, stole, and blocked shots?  Senior year Maceo Baston with 88 TOs (!) against 35 assists, 25 steals, and 33 blocks.

I mean, I get when you're trying to be snarky you can't be bothered to look up someone's stats but maybe try a bit harder next time.

He’s a solid glue guy. Provides energy off the bench. He’s not a B1G starter, but there’s a place on B1G rosters for a guy like him. In the old days, Bobby Knight would have 2 shooters, a big, and the rest of the team were Jace’s. (Somewhere Dan Dakich nods knowingly.)

Now you're reaching because you're committed to being ignorant in this thread.

Jace would not have been a target for Michigan if it were not for his Dad. True. But Jace is no worse than countless other players who have been on Michigan's rosters over the years. This is also true.

It's not like Juwan is trying to build the offense around Jace like he did with Jett. As a reminder, Jett was drafted 11th overall. Most college coaches would try to build their team around that kind of draft pick whether it was their son or not.

Exactly. It's not like we can just sit around and shrug off the injuries of guys who are even going to contribute a little bit to this year's team. It's not like we have a ton of bodies to throw out there. Almost every guy on this roster is probably going to be asked to contribute at one point or another this year and I think dismissing any sort of injury is going to be big mistake.

Jace Howard is a very good defensive player who doesn't make mistakes, turn the ball over or take bad shots.  He'd be a nice piece on a team that got offense from the other 4 positions.  Definitely a solid guy to bring off the bench for defense.
